Not for us, but great view of the lake

The view from the room and the hotel terrace and restaurant was stunning. The suite was spacious. Upon checking out, we were given two bottles of water and a gift of a small sample size olive oil. Drinks and snacks at the hotel bar were very good. They had an extended shuttle service that went into the evening due to the jazz festival.

Overall the room was very clean, but one of the bath towels was dirty. We found everything in the hotel to be a little overly complicated. From the faucets, to the black out switches (that were nowhere near the bed), the door handle, and the inexplicable lettering of the rooms and reception - why not number it to make it easier? When on holiday, one wants to relax, not try to figure things out. Even the extended shuttle service was overly complicated. From 7pm to 9pm the shuttle went into Ascona. And then there was no service until 11pm to 12pm from Ascona back to the hotel. We wanted to come back early (because we didn’t want to wait till 11) and asked reception where we would be picked up from if we wanted to come back at 9pm. It was then emphasised to us several times that the shuttle was only outgoing between 7 and 9pm, only to then be told that if we were there, the shuttle could take us back to the hotel. Why not say this in the first place rather than spend 10 minutes telling us otherwise first. It was just too complicated and in the end we were told the wrong place for pick up. There is a path that can be walked from the hotel to Ascona and this was lovely. But the walk back is very steep and particularly challenging in the heat. I mention this because outside of the jazz festival, the hotel shuttle stops at 7pm making it very impractical which I guess encourages guests to eat at the hotel. We didn’t eat there as we didn’t like the menu and it was very expensive for what they were offering. Also, information was not made available - there were events on in the hotel but none of this was conveyed to us upon checking in or at any other time (via the staff or via brochures etc.) We only found out after the fact. If you are looking for a hotel in which you can simply stay by the pool and have all your meals in house, then this might suit. Whilst our room was modern and renovated, we walked away feeling that the overall hotel was a little staid.

This is a beautiful hotel, located in a very nice spot with great views. Rooms are good, views fantastic. We found breakfast very good.

Actually, there is not much to comment on, we found the mattresses a bit soft (but that is personal) and the wine list in the restaurant a bit limited.

Quiet resting place with a beautiful lake view.

This hotel is located in a very quiet and beautiful place, it is suitable for those, who like to have a rest without being disturbed. Very beautiful lake view from all hotel rooms, aswell as from the restaurant. Very friendly personnel. Swimming is possible in the pool and also in Lago Maggiore (10 minutes by car). Mountine bikes are free available, e-bikes for rent. In conclusion, we were very satisfied.

Quality and prices are both Swiss, but you get a good value for your money.

Amazing facility, very classy hotel, beautiful lake views . Free space to park. 30 min walking from Ascona, return is uphill with lots of stairs. However, the hotel offers shuttle service (free of charge) to Ascona and back. Wonderful pool and spa. Breakfast is plentiful adn delicious.

Not a 4-star as you would expect it

The view from the room was stunning. The location is fantastic. We got a room upgrade, thanks to lovely Sheyenne. The room was beautiful and large. The staff were extremely friendly, as one would expect in a 4 star hotel. The breakfast is great, loads of meats and cheeses to pick from. The coffee is amazing. Plenty of secure parking spaces (free of charge). Fridge and minibar available. Hairdryer in the bathroom. 2x complimentary water bottles available in room. The outdoor (heated) pool is nice, but - see below in things we didn't like...

The bathroom in the room was outdated. Bathtub could have been too high for those with limited mobility. The whole hotel seemed a little old, some TLC would have been nice. It didn't feel like a 4 star hotel, even with the "SPA" that consists of relaxation room, sauna, and turkish sauna. The outdoor pool is a cool idea but it is not warm enough and the terrace restaurant guests above can watch the swimmers - not exactly a relaxing experience. Also, as the hotel is exposed, it is very windy at the outdoor pool. No kettle in room. Overall an average hotel, definitely not worth its price. We stayed in a 5 star resort in the area for less 2 nights later.

The facility had a lot to offer and the tucked away location offered amazing views.

A bit more removed from things however they did have an excellent shuttle service that offers multiple times to bring you down to the city & and back to the hotel.

Almost perfect stay

The view is very enjoyable! The bed has very high quality and the area is very quiet. We had very good sleep both nights. The sauna with lake view is superb! The pool is in shade in the morning until 10:30am and partially in shade from 4:30pm on in the afternoon (our travel time the end of July) therefore I can enjoy the pool without wearing sunblock. Breakfast was very good too. And the service top!

It is not the fault of the hotel but some guests had very smelly dog travelling with them and the lift was left very smelly for some time. very strong uncomfortable smell The balcony could be a bit bigger. But it is OK. We had neighbor in party mood and talked in high voices. It is kind of annoying when you want to enjoy the peace of the location.

Perfect for 2 days of luxury lazy days.

This one of the most beautiful spots on earth... Unbeatable view over the Lago Maggiore, a lovely pool , deep enough to dive , a roof terrace big enough for groups and spacious balconies to enjoy privacy and still be connected to the nature.

The aircon needs to run all night to cool the rooms down to acceptable temperatures if the outside temperatures are 30+...that can lead to respiratory irritations. Some of the stuff, as friendly and helpful as they are , lacks a bit of finesse one would expect at this price range.
