Bellissimo!

We absolutely loved our stay. The staff was amazing, very friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed the cappuccino and coffee in the morning. The view was spectacular from both balconies. The room was clean and the bed was made daily. Great base for the Cinque Terre, but consider exploring La Spezia, it's beautiful. There is an awesome restaurant within walking distance, just down the hill. Ask about the shortcut by using the stairs if you plan to go on foot. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. Would definitely stay again.

If you don't have a car, the uphill walk to the property from the train station or town center on days when there are no taxis or buses is a little steep, but this is no fault of the hotel. Find the stairs to avoid walking the windy road. The hotel could do with an upgrade to the mattresses.

A perfect base to explore Cinque Terre

Great location, stunning views but away from all the hustle and bustle of Cinque Terre, but close enough to get to the trains. Amazing hosts who were more than helpful, we would highly recommend a stay here if you’re visiting the region

Gorgeous view! A little too secluded

Beautiful views! I loved being able to enjoy an inexpensive breakfast on-site. I didn't have the ability to call a taxi due to no landline and the inability to make international calls or texts. I was able to communicate with the hotel via WhatsApp to request assistance in getting a cab. I was thankful to have free wifi.

There was no soap in the bathroom, not even soap to wash my hands. I was informed of the plumbing issues beforehand, but I wasn't prepared for the smell of the plumbing in the bathroom. Any time the toilet or sink was used, water would gurgle from the shower drain and would create an unpleasant smell. The shower door is not intended to close all the way (another hotel had the same design). I found it really uncomfortable. I held the detachable shower head close to me to try and avoid getting water outside of the shower but never succeeded. There was mold on the exterior sealant of the shower, which shows I was not the only one to struggle. The hotel is in a beautiful spot, but I was rather clueless on what to do while there. There were brochures on the table in the common area, but they were all far away. It would have been helpful to have recommendations of a restaurant or two to attend or an activity that was within walking distance. (The hotel did have a laminated page of info about the bus line, phone number for cab, closest laundromat.) *This is not a negative for the hotel but I do want other travelers to be aware* I did ask for a recommendation on a beach from the hotel staff and followed the recommendation. Once we arrived at the destination, I asked the taxi driver how to get a ride back/where to find another taxi. He gave me his business card and said he would try to bring us back if he wasn't busy. When we were ready to return, there was a family in the queue line that said they had been waiting for more than 30 minutes to show up. (I gave the number of the taxi driver to the family that had been waiting; he told them he was too busy.) We eventually got a taxi to show up, but he immediately wanted to charge his own rate! I knew I was in a bad situation. I was more than 30 minutes from the hotel, and no taxis were passing to provide rides. I finally negotiated a price of 40 € (5€ more than what I was charged to arrive.

Very comfortable and nice stay!

Our Stay was wonderful! The staff was very very nice. Breakfast was delicious and the rooms were very comfortable. The view is amazing! Getting to the hotel without a car is exhausting but totally worth it. Taxis drive there regularly from Central Station for just 12 Euros.

Loved it

Quick 10 min taxi raid from LaSpezia train station. Great views, easy to communicate with. They offer breakfast - coffee, fruit, etc. Very good, fresh and good value for money to eat something before heading out. Super friendly staff, helpful and kind. Comfy bed, amazing views.

Stay here, just for the views!

The breakfast was absolutely wonderful - the most delicious croissants we've ever had! While the walk up the hill was not for the faint of heart, the views from the room are worth every step. It is also easily accessible by car or taxi, we just chose to walk it. The check in process was well explained to us, so even arriving after dark, we were able to find out way inside quite easily. We wish we had stayed longer than two nights, mostly so we could just on the balcony all day and enjoy the stunning views of La Spezia.

AMAZING. Absolutely loved this spot. So welcoming, very quiet, beautiful view.

This place was exceptional. Don’t skip out on the superior room with sea view or sea and mountain view. The balcony is so magical. The staff was so kind, breakfast was cheap but very yummy. They spoiled us with coffee and recommendations for local spots to eat/swim/walk etc.. I can’t recommend this place enough. Parking was no sweat. The room fridge was nice to have. We loved this place and were very sad to leave.

The road up was a bit sketchy, but just be slow and you’ll be fine. Bed was a bit uncomfortable but honestly this seems to be a thing in Italy so I don’t fault them for it at all.

exceeded expectations!!!

My stay at Ca Leon exceeded all my expectations! The place itself is more of a guest house, as in there is no staff/reception there- they send you all you need to know off whatsapp (with photos) of how to enter the property and where the room is! I was able to enter early and a cleaner was still on property, she was lovely! As was the staff member whom I met the next morning who set up breakfast! Over the phone they are readily available for all the questions I had regarding transport/taxis etc. The room itself had dual balconies, a large bed, wardrobe, fridge, safe, desk and lounge chair. It was so neat and styled perfectly- not too bare and not too overdone where it becomes tacky! It was so light and the full length curtains really added to the ambience! Continental breakfast is served in the communal area just outside the rooms (I think there is only 4/5 total rooms, if that) and can be easily brought back into the room to be enjoyed with the view. Ca Leon is up a hill in the back of La Spezia, therefore you can see the entire town all the way down to the port and harbour. All in all was very pleased with the experience and would stay again in a heartbeat.

I only stayed for a night therefore would catch a taxi (10 euros) back from La Spezia Centrale, but if you were to stay longer and wouldn't want to be spending money for taxis, just note it is located up a steepish walk, semi far from the station. Buses run half way up that will take you into town also.

A little too far from the center, and it was uphill, so we had to hike up. It was fine with me, but my friend has a little health problem. We could have hired a taxi at the beginning. 😅 Other than that, it was perfect.

The room without balcony has a great view; Clean and well decorated; Access by code, facilitating check-in and checkout.

The shower space of our room was too small, even for one person; It’s not really close to the train station by walk so, if you plan to visit the other villages of Cinque Terre, it would be better booking a closer place. We rented an electric scooter (Bit) to make the way easier.

Amazing stay in La Spezia

All the hotel rooms were beautiful, one had a view overlooking the mountains and another overlooking the sea, and extremely clean. It was well located - a twenty minute walk to the station (however I do recommend getting a taxi there if you have large suitcases as it is a steep slope). The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind.
