Close to where we needed to be. Excellent views from the garden

The not so "Star Inn"

Not a great deal really, the bar was ok and the landlord was friendly. That was about it to be honest.

Almost everything. The whole place needs a total refit. The room, or as it was a suite we booked was, quite bluntly, filthy. The kitchen area had a sink, no tap, no plug whole, nothing, just a sink with 2 holes in it. The whole area was filthy, we had to use almost a packet of wet wipes to just clean the area. Kettle covered in dust, old hot drinks marks on the work top are. Seating was dirty, only 2 spot.lights worked in the kitchen area. Windows rotten, in fact the kitchen one had gaffer tape on the hinge side to stop it falling out, seriosuly. On return Sunday night the place was in darkness and our parents key was left outside their room!!!!!! So anyone could have entered it. Monday morning we had to leave the keys on the window.ledge outside the place as the doors were locked and no one around. Please, stay away.

Clean and good facilities. EV charging point was perfect.

Patrons couldn’t shut the door properly which was irritating during dinner so we kept having to shut it. Small gripe.

Great pub inn

Lovely cooked English breakfast in the morning. Star Inn is a pub as well as a B&B. Rooms were clean and quiet. There is an electric car charger in the parking lot. Owners friendly

Wifi was a bit weak and no (or weak) 5G signal.

Lovely old pub, good beer, and a fantastic view from the garden. A comfortable and enjoyable stay

Good English breakfast, very nicely cooked. We liked the ground floor 'cottage' room with own door straight on to the car park where there was plenty of parking space. Room was nice and cool in spite of hot weather, and we could have the window open. Bed very comfortable. Enjoyed chatting to our friendly hosts.

Minor issues - we couldn't reach the light switches for the bed lights, from the bed. The toilet was in a rather narrow space perhaps because it was fitted into an old building.

Adequate but expensive for what you get.

Clean , comfortable beds, not noisy at all which is very important for me. Shower worked well

Very cramped accommodation. The weather was warm and it became uncomfortable at night - while AC for occasional use may not be necessary - a fan would have been appreciated. Only 3 tea bags and my friend was given only 1 so we could not have a cup of tea on arrival after a long journey as well as one in the morning. ( In fact my friend had her's on arrival so we gave her one of our 3 for the morning !)

We enjoyed our stay at The Star Inn, lovely character pub and the family room was great with its separate sitting room.

Lovely location and kind welcoming hosts. Property was comfortable and clean. Parking was easy and next to the room, food available in the pub and was good quality and value for money.

Still couple of bits to be completed in the room (sink in the sitting area) which we were told about and didn’t affect our stay. Would be nice to have bedside lamps :-)

Stay was okay but not great.

Parking is an issue, arrived at a packed pub. Told to park on an adjacent driveway only to be confronted by an annoyed neighbour asking if we had been told to park there, not a great first impression. Room wasn’t ready when we arrived.

No sleep, no breakfast, parking a challenge.

We were unable to park in the car park as it was jammed full of cars due to a live music event & karoke evening, hardly compatible with a bed and breakfast stay. we were told there was no food available and no possibility of any breakfast as the owner was 'in hospital, in labour', and that our room had been allocated to another resident because 'she couldn't manage the stairs'. The room we were shown was upstairs immediately over the bar area which meant it felt as if the band & karoke singers were in the room with us! The almost unbearable noise went on till 11.15 when it was replaced by the rumble of dish washers / freezers turning on and off this went on all night! We appeared to be in a "staff / storage room".

Very good if a little pricey

Bed was very comfortable and was all clean and looked after. I was attending a party locally and there was no problem coming in late as the room had its own entrance. Shower was good. Landlord and staff were friendly

Bathroom (understandably) was a little cramped. I thought it was quite expensive for what was just a room and no breakfast.

Would stay again

The pub is in a lovely village, The room was everything we needed, the bathroom was large and the shower was exceptionally good. We were going to Badminton Horse Trials and the location was perfect, just under 30 mins to the park avoiding the main routes and queues.

we had dinner which was reasonable, there had been a big order before ours so we waited almost an hour and when it came the meal was warm rather than hot however by then we were so hungry we ate it without complaint.

A gem of a pub that is easy to miss as it's hidden away. It feels like home.

The Star Inn made us feel at home straight away, exceeding our expectations. Both meals and breakfast where excellent and great value for money. A good bar in a very laid back comfortable pub which is exactly what we wanted. The room was quiet, very large with a good shower and clean.

The new kitchen sink and surrounding area was not completely finished which they did apologise for.

The car park was full of junk and staff had there cars parked outside the rooms so bags had to be dragged over the dirt into the rooms.

No food available. Very small room and shower. But it was convenient for our purposes

Nice room with a bathroom view!

It was very clean, big room, twin beds, very warm and cosy. New bathroom with shower and hot water. Parking space on the back and nice bar.

The pillows were too thin for our taste but you get two. There is no other restaurant or place to eat close to it. The closest one is 20 minutes downhill and you need to go uphill back, no ubers in the area and maybe bit difficult to use taxis for short distances.

Tiny bathroom. Loo set into an alcove so you couldn't sit on the loo without arms almost touching walls both sides and you had to lift a leg onto the 'boxing' covering pipes to have space to sit! Bathroom bin wasn't emptied otherwise the place was nice and clean. No food/ breakfast offer. Just a few steps up the road is a wonderful community run village store and cafe. I wouldn't mind any of this but it wasn't cheap and a colleague's room was quite expensive.

Location and room was fantastic. Staff were lovely and although going through a kitchen refurbishment, bar was great and offer of pizza from pizza oven was great and tasty. Would definitely return again.
