The Stroud Hotel

The Facility is an older one, but excellently maintained! Bed was good, updated bathroom and room! Service was excellent along with a very nice restaurant and pub downstairs with excellent food options and food! Location great for travelers and tge Value was amazing!

Bit noisy at night

We booked a "small double" room, but it was spacious and had a huge Superking bed. The pantry cupboard with extra tea/coffee and water is very useful. We were able to leave our luggage behind reception whilst we looked around the town.

Not much, just a bit noisy at times as people banging doors as they went through corridor at strange hours.

You can't beat the location being right opposite the train station and the high street being a couple of minutes' walk away. Very clean comfortable room, we slept well. All the staff were very friendly.

We chose the hotel for proximity to Sub Rooms venue and that could not have worked better as we were there on a stormy weather night!! Over and above that, the room was more spacious than we imagined and the staff made it the welcoming and relaxed getaway that we were looking for. From check in staff, bar team and breakfast crew, there were smiles and chatter readily and genuinely given. Range of food and drink was spot on and we have already booked next concert and will not be looking anywhere else as we can’t beat it for what we need. Check in and out times are great too as not too early out!! Thank you to the whole team and see you in February if not before!

The staff were so warm and friendly. They were really helpful in all aspects of our stay. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, and really buzzing in the evenings.

We have stayed in the stroud before and I must say that since it was reopened it is a fantastic hotel.. The food is really good and the whole place has been decorated very well. We come to stroud alot to visit the sub rooms and will definitely be staying there in future. l

The hotel is a stones throw from the station and a convenient base to explore from. The room was comfortable and the en-suite bathroom was huge! We had a lovely Sunday Roast in the restaurant before attending an event in the evening. The staff are lovely, attentive and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

A very minor point. There was a coffee machine in the room that made really good coffee but there was no milk. I’m sure if we had noticed before going out we could have got some but there was no-one in Reception when we got back after midnight. So we drank black coffee first thing in the morning.

Convenient location right next to the station, the room was clean and comfortable. The food for both dinner and breakfast was lovely. The staff made our stay as they were all so friendly and helpful.

Nothing- we wouldn’t hesitate to book this hotel again and will recommend to friends and family.

Beautiful room with a comfortable bed. The staff were all wonderful - so kind and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The only negative was the fact that there was no lift as getting to the room involved going up two flights of stairs and through numerous doors which was a bit of a challenge for my partner who had a bad back. Otherwise everything was perfect and I would definitely stay again.

My stay was really good. The staff are the very best they could be.

The "Imperial" breakfast was a disappointment. I was really looking forward to something special. The sausage was nice, the bacon wasn't crisp the mushroom was not cooked enough, the scrambled egg was OK but nothing special. The hash browns were slightly too crisp. I was going to send it back, but I was so well looked after I didn't want to spoil the occasion. These things are subjective. I will be staying again but maybe avoiding the "less than Imperial" breakfast.

I had a really pleasant stay at The Stroud Hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made check-in and the overall experience feel easy and relaxed. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-kept, which I really appreciated after a long day. The location is also very convenient, with easy access to the town and nearby amenities. Overall, a great place to stay in Stroud—would happily return!

The only downside was the noise from the extractor fan, and the smell of food that came through with it, which was a bit distracting at times. Other than that, everything else was great.

I stayed in room number 1 which faces the main road so if you are a light sleeper i avoid any this room!

Great location, good size rooms and delicious breakfast. I asked for a room with a bath and the original room we were offered did not have one but the staff were very helpful and quickly organised for us to have a different room.

There was no mini fridge and we found the rooms to be very hot. There was a fan but it was not very strong.

The main bar staff in the evening were excellent. The continental breakfast was good.

The rooms and corridors upstairs were stiflingly hot. No air conditioning. There was no electric power in our room when we arrived. The widows couldn’t be opened to allow ventilation. The reception staff were surly and unwelcoming.

The rooms were spacious and very clean. Beautifully decorated and stocked with biscuits and coffee pods. The rooms also had fans for us to use as the rooms got very hot.

There was limited parking which wasn’t available to us so we had to pay for parking. Upon checking out there was no staff available. When I was able to hand my key over, the staff member looked confused and didn’t know what to do with it.

It’s a listed building and has been well decorated inside. I liked the thoughtfulness of the ‘pantry’ on each floor which had chilled tap water inside mini fridges and extras like ear plugs(you’ll need these depending where your room is) dental kits shower caps, iron etc.

I recently stayed here and had the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. If you get given room 23, give it straight back. The room overlooks the Wetherspoons roof terrace and station car park, making it impossible to sleep until after 1 am due to the noise. As a single female traveler, I found the room's location next to the fire escape and stairs, which are accessible from the station car park, to be highly inappropriate and unsafe. There were no net curtains for privacy, and I had to keep the curtains drawn the entire time. On one night, I experienced a severe disturbance with men on the flat roof outside my bathroom window, shining flashlights and making noise until the early hours. This culminated in a man climbing onto the fire escape outside my bedroom window, causing me significant distress and fear for my safety. There was no emergency contact information provided at check-in, leaving me without assistance during the night and attempting to call the police but due to poor battery and signal this didn’t work out! I spoke to the manager the next day and he was apologetic. He made me aware for the first time Of the hotel emergency number. I was moved rooms and offered a drink and a meal onthe house. I appreciated the gesture but all in all it doesn’t make up for the experience. To top it off, I encountered a mouse running around the hotel restaurant during my meal. Despite the staff being friendly and the hotel being nicely renovated, the overall experience was far from satisfactory. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially single female travelers. I am requesting a full refund for the first night of my stay.
