Beautiful location and lovely old building with fantastic views and the bullion windows were gorgeous ,the breakfast was very nice and freshly cooked, the room was homely and inkeeping with the building
The very steep stairs to the room.s but understand cant be changed due to age of property but may be if room can create a down stairs room for people with disabilities

cooked Breakfast excellent and evening meal good value with a good choice. Very quiet. Comfortable bed and parking on the other side of the road. Room charming with everything we needed.
Hot water in the morning wasn't hot enough for a bath which was a shame as it was a lovely full sized bath and I had been looking forward to it. Very little choice at breakfast for my daughter who didn't want a hot breakfast. Only toast cereal and jams. No Croissants available even though mentioned on the menu. Not the end of the world as she's not really a breakfast person and even with effectively only eating one breakfast between the two of us, it was still good value and we would stay again.

The staff were all wonderful.
The towel rail in our bathroom didn’t work (was disconnected).

Location was amazing and had idilic views. The breakfast was lovely with continental and cooked options. We also ate dinner there on the night we stayed and it was absolutely lovely. Couldn’t fault the staff, service or the food.

Drinks and food were excellent
Room dated with only a portable electric heater for warmth. Although there were bedside lamps neither worked nor did the power sockets. No heating whatsoever in the en-suite, a dribble of hot water from the tap in the basin and the shower was hard to use i.e. to change from not using it as bath. It was also very awkward to get in and out of without making the floor extremely wet and slippy

Lovely location and staff were friendly and allowed us to check-in early. Room was warm.
We were in the cottage part of the hotel. There are large amounts of mold in the bathroom (walls and ceiling) as well as water damage in the main part of the bedroom. There was a bath with a handheld shower only so difficult to use. Unfortunately the cost of the room was not reflective in the room and amenities.

Breakfast well done, and cooked to order. The room was clean, and comfortable, a bath rather than a shower although had shower attachment. Great views.
Had work being done but not at the weekend and it is very out of season.

Plenty of choice and reasonable service
Coffee not good and poor lighting in room
6.0 / 10.0
friendly staff, warm bedroom, excellent location, comfortable bed, easy parking
Bathroom facilities need updating (toilet not easy to flush; water flow variable from taps, but shower ok)
Dinner service needed better organisation, I was asked to wait for a table by one member of staff, and another let a couple who had walked in sit down before me. If I hadnt asked about my table, I dont know if staff would have come to get me. Dinner took 1 hr to arrive even after I ordered. I could see other guests equally hungry and waiting as long, if not longer. Next morning and only when I commented about the late running of dinner, I was told a new chef had started that day, but there was no communication from the waiting staff that dinner was running late.

There was a bath which I like.
There was a kettle in the room.
It is dog friendly - though actually we left our dog behind.
Easy parking.
The breakfast was disappointing, I am not sure the sausages were cooked. One of the bedside lamps was broken - they did replace it, but I had to ask. The coffee was awful. Dishwater.

The staff were amazing. We understand this Inn -which was neglected for some years- is under new management, and the staff are working super hard to put things right. Every member of staff was unfailingly pleasant, efficient and welcoming. The unexpected twist was to be invited to the New Year’s Eve party with mostly local people. It was great fun! The room was super warm and comfortable; the breakfast plentiful and unhurried; the views from the property stunning.
The stairways/ corridors in The Cottage need some attention: fresh paint; better lighting etc. Something for guests with dogs is necessary too: leaving dogs in rooms for hours on end is both cruel and upsetting. It’s neglect of a frightened and distressed dog; and unfair for other guests who have to listen to the endless whining.

Breakfast was amazing and the staff couldn’t have been any more helpful.
There was a good selection of real ales in the bar.
We ate in restaurant on two occasions. The first meal was lovely and second one very average.
We were in room 7. Which didn’t have any radiators so was cold. Also no heated towel rail so damp towels. Also shower attachment on the bath taps and low water pressure. Unless you ask for housekeeping you only get changed every two days. So you have to make your own bed!

Love the Amberly Inn and stayed here many times in the main building. Great staff and under new management/ owners. Lots of character and warm cozy feeling, and great location. Food to a high standard and plenty of parking. Room lovely and warm, but…
This time we were put in the cottage. Rather rundown and disappointing room. Signs of a leak on the ceiling. Bed was small double for us and mattress uncomfortable. Divan base did not have a cover and the two halves were not connected so a gap developed during the night. For £152 we were expecting a higher standard and overall this did not seem good value and detracted from our overall all enjoyment of the stay. Sadly we would not stay again at this price and quality of room. That said the inn is under new management and we wish them well, and hope that they will benefit from this feedback.

We are a family of 7 and three generations and stayed for a break over Christmas. We all very much enjoyed ourselves praising the comfort of the beds, helpfulness of staff and great food. Breakfasts are excellent with super choice, menu for evening meals was varied and tasty and the Christmas lunch was delicious, plentiful and offered great choices. The log fires were a good bonus.

The staff were lovely, the bar cosy and the food very good.
The room was a bit disappointing. Behind the inn in a separate old characterful house. The rooms were ok but very tired and there was a lot of damp in the bathroom. The bath was narrow and the shower over the bath had no pressure at all and it was impossible to regulate the temperature. The sound proofing is non existent and there was a lot of noise from other rooms late at night. The stairs were extremely narrow so difficult to negotiate with luggage.

I was born in the village of Amberley returning with my daughter some 40 years later for a short visit so the location was perfect in addition to proving the stories of having cattle ramdonly roaming around area! Thank you to the wonderful staff on Sunday afternoon/evening and breakfast the following morning, both meals were delicious and prepared/cooked to perfection nothing was too much trouble for the staff on the bar and food side.
We stayed in the cottage behind the hotel , the room was clean, warm and had plenty of hot water, the negative is that the whole place is in dire need of updating, decorating and general care, love and attention. It's a shame that the wonderful staff and food were let down by the lack of investment in the property by the owners, hence the 7 out of ten rating but by no means is this a reflection on the staff or the food service

Lovely pub / hotel in a gorgeous location. Very comfortable bed. Nice linen and plenty of good fluffy towels. Good breakfast
Hotel slightly tired but it’s an old building

Breakfast and staff were excellent.
We were put in a cottage to the rear of the property and while it was perfectly comfortable it as not what we were expecting and bore no relation to the double room in the Inn that we had expected. The restaurant was not as good as its write up suggested as the menu was limited and the portions rather small.

I was greeted by very friendly staff (but was not introduced to any of the hotel amenities which was disappointing).
The room was clean and well presented. Free bottles of water in the room was a nice touch, along with the biscuits and the towels were nice and soft.
No reception staff in the morning to get a receipt or to even unlock the doors to leave the hotel.
The remote control was broken - missing the back cover and a battery so I was unable to use the TV, there was no chair in the room apart from a stool, very little phone signal and the wifi was not fantastic, breakfast did not start until 0730hrs.

We were travelling with our two golden retrievers, I can’t recall a time we were all made to feel so welcome, on arrival at reception, drinks, dinner, breakfast the staff, the locals, it was like being with friends. In particular Daisy who was a treasure, so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
The only minor problem was the hot tap, water ran very slow, If this issue was sorted this would be a 10/10

Staff member Daisey was brilliant.
Real fire was nice too.
Very little parking. The room was very dated, but not in a good way. We were in room 4. We paid more for the premier king room!!! There wasn't even a wardrobe to hang clothes. The ventilation was poor, so room was stuffy. There is black mould present round window and corners of ceiling by window ( very old metal window frame with two cracks across the pane. Did try to open it unsuccessfully but didn't want to break it!) Bed very uncomfortable.
There was a constant mechanical tapping noise coming from the room next door. We reported the tapping noise to a staff member in the morning who told us they were aware of the noise... thanks for telling us!
Breakfast wasn't good either. Dry bacon, awful sausage that tasted like metal, hard eggs, and old dried up tomato. The beans and toast ( we had to prepare the toast ourselves ) were ok. We obviously complained, but were told they cannot compensate us because we had paid in full in advance. But I could try writing them a letter of complaint.
Worst place I've stayed. Will never go back.

We were very happy with the value for money and the breakfast was incredible.
Facilities in the room could do with modernising, but were sufficient
