Perfect

Unfortunately our visit was cut short as my daughter was unwell. I would like to have stayed longer.

Breakfast excellent. I had the Full English and it was plentiful. Beds very comfortable and the room had everything we needed. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

The room was very hot when we arrived. Couldn't adjust the radiator but staff turned down thermostat. We opened the windows but it was very noisy from traffic. However this was sorted by staff. We hadn't realised the pub was on the main road.

Excellent breakfast, excellent restaurant, lovely staff. A cheerful pub full off happy friendly locals.

Our room was just above the happy friendly locals and on a Saturday night, it was quite noisy till 11:30pm. After that it was fine.

Good value for money - ticked all the boxes for me

The host who met me was friendly, welcoming and efficient. The room was, warm, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The chef cooked an excellent breakfast with large portions which was included in the price. The hotel / pub has ample free parking Would definitely stay again.

Appreciated the trusting ness of the place but all a bit desperate and couldn't get anything to work

The TV didn't work couldn't get the light to work and couldn't lock the pub door when I went out so couldn't leave and leave the pub open. Appreciated, however, the trusting old fashioned nature of the place letting us leave via the bar when no one else about. Very fun. So took a bottle of orange juice out of the bar because I couldn't leave and go down the town and get myself some to help with my hangover. Left the money on the counter for it!!! It was a busy night in the pub and felt there was not much care for the guests telling them how to leave if they had to leave early and no one answered the emergency phone number. Eventually got a reply about 7 o clock but I was late. Although the pub was busy, Halloween, no noise in the room and it was a lovely quiet night. Very eccentric place but it was all a bit desperate really

Overnight stay in Stroud.

The location, food and facilities were excellent.

The bar on Sunday afternoon was very noisy. It was busy and the sound echoed. I went out on Sunday evening and had to ask for instructions about how to get into the room which was above the bar. I wasn't aware that I wouldn't be able to get in as I thought that the bar closed at 10.30pm. Accurate information would have been appreciated.

Nice place but be careful which room you choose

Location, bustling pub with food. Pleasant room

I stayed in Griffins and could not sleep due to a low background noise and vibration. I gave up at 4am and drove home

Comfortable and friendly.

On a 4day stay, Breakfast was excellent everyday. I felt I was staying in a lively pub, but it was nice and quiet after 10pm. Comfortable bed and a good night's sleep!

I would like to encourage you to ask the guest if they want towels changed every day....I would have say no. I had a clean bundle of towels on day 1, and which would have been fine for my entire stay.

Great location. Very friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable with ensuite bathroom and a little private outdoor patio. Dinner menu was good and food very good.

Saturday night was very busy in the pub and dining room and there was live music which could be heard from the bedroom, even though the room was at the back of the building.....'boom, boom, thump, boom..................' Ok if you want to spend the ening in the bar but not if you were hopiong for an early night and an early start in the morning.

Room was dated , scruffy, wall paper torn from wall...bathroom needed serious updating. Way over priced for what it was. Check out was ridiculously early.

Good pub stay with excellent food

We had a twin room with a separate but private bathroom. It was comfortable and they even supplied dressing gowns. Both the evening meal we had and the breakfast were excellent. Definitely some of the nicest food and best breakfast we had on our journey and both my friend and I have dietary restrictions. Walking distance to centre and plenty of parking

Nothing really but my friend managed to lock our keys in the bathroom. Staff were very helpful.

Weekend Stay for Birthday!

We booked this hotel to celebrate a friend’s birthday and were not disappointed. The hotel is well located with just a short walk into the centre. We ate in their restaurant in the evening and also had breakfast. We couldn’t fault the food, it was fantastic. Staff were lovely.

Location was great for a trip to Stroud. Friendly welcome, comfortable room, nice beer in the garden, great breakfast. Interesting historic photos on the walls

Dated bar area in need of refurb, bedroom needs decorating, bedside cabinets had handles missing so drawers could not be used. Towels in bathroom were shabby/discoloured. Our room was next to the housekeeping room where the washing machine and tumble dryer were, this made the landing very hot and humid.

Close to M5 so a good inn for travellers wanting an overnight stop over.

Good cask ales. Excellent chicken gyros.

Bath road is very busy with vehicle traffic. On a hot day with bedroom window open very noticeable.

The place was comfortable served the purpose needed for a night good value for money.

Breakfast was good. Meal in the bar very good value. Location good. Staff were good and helpful.

Stayed in room above bar and access through bar had to ring up porter to open up when returned at 11.30pm. Shower hot one moment cold the next. Cold tap on the sink stiff and took some effort to turn off once you’d turned it on.
