The Painswick is extremely comfortable, beautifully designed and every modern facility to enjoy. All the staff were welcoming, warm and efficient. I enjoyed THE most delicious dinner - cuisine to a very high standard.
A beautiful location within an exceptional small town.
Perhaps more lighting in the bedroom.

Gorgeous hotel. Room was lovely, staff were friendly. Lots of lovely little touches that made us feel really welcome!
Nothing, it was all good!

Lovely freindly staff, brillent view from room, nice and clean, great breakfast. Cosy place. Coffee for the road for the misses a great idea, nice touch.
Car park is a bit dicey but they did offer options to help which was good. No bath robe or slippers that at price point would have thought be there.

Wonderful bedroom and bathroom. Comfy bed, great shower. Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Painswick restaurant.
It was all great. It was our splurge for the Cotswold Way hike. A little more than we usually spend, but it was a beautiful hotel. We'd stay again for a special occasion.

Absolutely everything!! The building itself is exceptional, the rooms are beautiful, she water pressure in the showers is top notch, the food was divine, the open fire places in the lounges were beautifully lit in the evenings, and as for the service, wow!!! We can highly recommend this hotel!!!
No complaints whatsoever!!

Staff were extremely lovely in every aspect
WE were a large family going to a wedding , we were told there would be plenty of taxis/ ubers
this was not the case , it was extremely difficult and we were misled . On the last day more than half of us missed the train back as the Uber didnt arrive even though they were booked over an hour before. Hotel should have made it clearer that it was impossible to get taxis and maybe we could have organised a minibus the the entire weekend

Hotel is amazing , the one serious problem is, we were a large family staying there for a nearby wedding
we were told there would be plenty of taxis and uber's . this is not the case , many of us missed our return trains as Ubers were booked an hour before and didnt show and it was the same case to get to the wedding. we were more than 20 staying at the hotel and were all advised that there would be taxis and uber's , Very disappointed but we couldnt fault the hotel or the staff in any other way

Every thing was perfect from the welcome by the staff to the beautiful hotel and public rooms. Very accomodating. Lovely maps for nearby walks short and long and boots and jackets to use if the sea the is bad The breakfast was excellent and all homemade Great little bar
The nearby town was very small but thee were two pubs with dining options if you desired

Gorgeous property with gorgeous views. It was super clean, the rooms were very cute, and the bed was sooo comfy.
One of our rooms had AC and the other didn’t, which we didn’t love.
The restaurant was the reason we booked, but it was just okay and it was extremely expensive. The floor manager was knowledgeable but the other staff clearly didn’t know the menu well.
Additionally, for such a premium property, the staff was lukewarm at best. Some were just barely friendly, and others were cold completely. In the restaurant, the waitresses would explain every dish to the table next to us, but for us they would just drop the dish off and go. They weren’t rude, but it was just clear the difference in treatment.

We had a lovely stay at The Painswick for a weekend break marking our 2nd anniversary. The rooms were really clean and nice and the staff were incredibly accommodating. I asked a few weeks before visiting if the restaurant was able to cater for our halal diet and they made the effort to order us in some halal options especially for our visit. The meal was exquisite with an abundance of flavour across the board. It was picture perfect.
The hotel is in a relatively quiet part of the Cotswolds, which is nice. As busy as it gets elsewhere, this is a nice spot to visit and get to wherever you need to visit nearby.
Once again - a special compliment to Chef McCallum for accommodating our request. It meant a great deal
The room was nice but we did stay in one of the hottest days of the year. The higher up in the building you are, the heat does tend to rise. We were on the top most floor (because most of the rooms had been sold out) and there was a fan but there's only so much it can do. The staff are helpful if you ask for their help though. I was notified well in advance though as I asked them about that before coming. Don't let it put you off. Just ask them about it in advance.

The hotel is beautifully designed with an elegant aesthetic combining soft earthy colors, high end textiles (curtains, upholstery, linens) with modern lighting in a historic building. The breakfast was very generous including all sorts of yogurts, fruit, muesli and granola as well as a full hot breakfast. I had poached eggs on avocado toast which was delicious.
Everything was lovely- if I had to point out one thing I would say the glass globes on fixtures in dining had dust which I'm sure is not visible at eye level for staff as everything else meticulously clean.

The room, the hotel, the location!
Lack of noise cancellation

The beds are beyond comfortable (please… I need to know duvet/pillow supplier/mattress brand!!) and the staff are absolutely wonderful!
This is VERY well communicated, but the lanes to the hotel and the parking is a little tight - bigger cars can struggle, but there is a town car park not far away!

We had a lovely stay at the Painswick. We loved the boutique size of the hotel, gorgeous lounging areas and interiors. We had a very friendly welcome on arrival after our late journey. The staff were super helpful throughout our stay - making sure everything was in order for us and taking care of the small special touches too. The breakfast was lovely, again such helpful staff and we liked that the coffee and cooked breakfast options were made to order.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely setting
Service was very poor. Some of the staff came across as rude and seemed annoyed when you asked to order a drink. Restaurant food was not great. Ordered the beef wellington which was very overdone. Overall felt it ruined the stay of what otherwise is a lovely hotel.

Everything from start to finish was perfect. Gorgeous views, stunning room, bed was so comfy. Even the little extra touches like the homemade biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge made it more special.

The food was superb both at breakfast and at dinner. The room was very comfortable and of reasonable size.
We found the very steep stairs to our room a great problem as we are in our seventies with balance problems. The bar and lounge seemed rather basic for such an expensive venue.

Every single member of the staff were incredible. The style and facilities at the hotel was incredible. Sitting on the lawn for evening drinks was fantastic, something I'll be coming back to do again. The restaurant was exceptional.

Amazing breakfast, lovely breakfast staff too.
My first nights stay at the hotel was absoutely perfect. The staff were all incredible. By the second night, on the Friday, there was a staff changeover and the entire atmosphere changed. They were not as professional and the bar staff were quite pushy to ordering drinks.
