Egypt Mill Hotel and Restaurant

Close to the town with ample parking and easy access. Interesting buildings that have been beautifully conserved. Room was spotless, pretty, overlooking the river. Tea/coffee/water in the room was much welcome. Food was extremely good in the restaurant & the breakfast was excellent. Will definitely return ⭐️

It was an unusual hotel as built in the mill.The room we had was huge but quite basic. It had everything we needed and a great location to wander into the town. Think it is used as a great wedding venue .

A huge room and felt quite spartan. The bathroom was quite bare and very outdated. Although the mill should have had atmosphere due to its character, this was lacking. Felt overpriced as no breakfast included either in the price.

Location was good and handy for a number of day trips. Service at breakfast was good with helpful staff. The place was clean and the cleaners themselves very chatty and helpful. No problems parking.

Room a little tired and "basic" considering the price. Bathroom requires updating and the bath, which was missing a chunk of its coating needs replacing. No air conditioning and despite the provision of a fan, the rooms were quite hot. Windows opened to a limited extent, but the proximity to water attracted large numbers of midges etc which soon became a pest. TV did not work due to "poor signal" and this problem was not rectified, despite it being reported. Although I don't go on holiday to watch TV, it would have been nice to catch the odd news bulletin or programme before bed. I was unable to access wifi/get a phone signal in my room, although others in my party could. Water so hot it was impossible to shower. The tap controlling the temperature was old and very difficult to turn. The cleaner eventually selected temperature for me, as she put it "you almost feel like you are going to break the tap to get it to move". Poor "cold" breakfast selections. Fruit options very limited to one x 4 inch wedge of watermelon which had been cut into smaller pieces, dried apricots/banana. By 09:00 virtually all fruit had gone, as had the pastries. Limited selection of fruit juices. Menu options limited by 09:00 with no granola on 2 days. The options were heavily biased towards egg dishes. Those who had the cooked options said they were good and it's likely that most guests would choose these options. Friends who arrived with a dog had to sit in a separate area. The tables in this area were not set with cutlery/crockery, serviettes etc and overall the space was not welcoming. Service was quite good, although it did feel as if staff were multi tasking in order to cover staff shortages.
