Lovely situation. Very interesting decor. A good feel about the hotel.

Location and restaurant.
Building works (noise) and state of the bathroom. Huge amount of mold around the bath. Bath had heavy grubby scratches in base.

Lovely little break with friendly staff
A little tired in places, could do with some renovation back to full glory
Felt a bit expensive

Good location, nice hotel
Restaurant quite expensive

The bed mattress was extremely uncomfortable. I paid for a double bed, two people and I got two single divans clipped together in the middle. Horrendous. Couldn’t sleep all night, there was also a very loud noise coming from outside of my room, sounded like a large equipment/tank/boiler.
The hotel is outdated, smelly in places, just not worth a penny. Wouldn’t return. Spoke to others leaving and they were also disappointment. Many rooms are in a building connected to hotel you can see on pictures. Old stained carpets, water marks on sealings. TV so old and wouldn’t turn off with remote

Excellent staff friendly service and very helpful and a great location
Rooms could do with some tlc...
Warn and stained carpet, bath panel falling apart paint work and furniture starting to show its age ....Room was over the entrance and backed on to the rear of the kitchen so was a little noisy

Lovely looking hotel, with a pretty good view from the car park. Staff were friendly. Bed was good size and comfortable.
No view from our room, which was a shame. Paid extra for Superior, but didn't feel superior. Only one complimentry bottle of water. Noisey dogs in opposite room.

Lovely bar areas and good breakfast.
Uncomfortable small beds and pillows. A little out of date. Could do with an update. Carpet was very dirty and stained.

Loved the room - nicely decorated in the subtle green colour. Fab location, just 10 mins from Abbeydale where my mum lives yet like another world - I love locations like this. We had a celebratory brunch on Saturday with some friends, generally very good although there's a couple of things to add below. The receptionist was fabulous as were the bar staff (although again see one comment below).
The room was really hot when we got there and even though it cooled down eventually, it did take a while. One of the bar staff was new and couldn't really make a porn star martini properly however the other barman (who'd done the first two) walked past and said "that looks different" - should have changed it really. The waiter for brunch was very slow initially and didn't know the menu - we had to repeat some things a few times but he did get better. Oh and the napkins are rubbish - we all got fluff all over us (the receptionist actually came to talk to us about it but I don't know her name sorry).

The shower was ridiculous. My husband is 6ft 2 and the shower reached his waist. I could just stand under it
The shower was ridiculous. My husband is 6foot2 and the shower reached his waist. I could barely stand under it. The fire alarm went off at 7:00 and we had gone for a rest. No apology, we had to ask why

It was lovrly

Lovely setting and pleasant staff
We were totally unhappy with classic double room
It was a loft conversion with a big beam on one side
We kept on banging both our heads as it was a few yards from the bed across the room
We wished this was mention on booking com
My husband who is 60 had to lie down after banging the head .
This should be stated on the photos and description
Guests should be informed about the beam.
All other services including staff were very pleasant

I really liked where it was located as it was very peaceful and quiet.
The staff are very friendly and very helpful and always ask if you need anything else to make my stay comfortable.
There is a freephone at reception to help you get a local taxi service to get into town in case you rely on public transport.
Breakfast is amazing as there is a separate hot food menu and you can always help yourself to the continental bar for cereal, jams for your toast, fresh fruit to add to your Greek yoghurt bowl and small yoghurt pots too.
Honestly, just the only thing I did not like is that since I had very large suitcases that I had to go up and down the steps to the east wing area where all the rooms are. Apart from that, if you have smaller cases that are light then it's not a problem.

Nice hotel, great location
No one warned us about the steps/stairs. There is a large steep set of steps to get to the east wing then stairs only in the building no lift. When you are on the 3rd floor it's quite a lot. The window in the room did not close properly on the hinge side. As it was windy a draught came through.

A very lovely setting. We have been many times before.
Beds and bedding etc all ok
The building could do with an update. Taps badly fitted and shower door not fitting. Needs a lick of paint too.
No drinking water in the bedrooms. panes of glass cracked windows dirty on inside.
No decaf coffee at breakfast - some items needed replenishing. The food was ok good standard. Not many staff in evidence.

The view was nice, the room was good but could have done with a lounge as there was plenty of room.
Breakfast was great
Definitely recommend
The bath in the room was a waste of space.
The big marquee took up a lot of space. It would be nicer to sit outside and look at the view
4.0 / 10.0
The restaurant has a 10/10 as the food and service was excellent. The hotel room was really disappointing. The bed springs were not good and the overall room furnishings were disappointing.
The room was below the standard I would expect for the price paid. Really cheap.

Great view s
Needs update, bathroom pipes extremely noisy!
Carpets were old
No non slip mats were available for the base of the bath / shower.
Needs to have more plug sockets by the bedside for use when charging phones etc.

Staff
Waiter forgot to take my dessert order
Fish and chips - very greasy - left mine
Baileys coffee was all mixed together instead of cream gloating on top - clearly don’t know how to make it
Lack of milk/tea/coffee - luckily we had our own
Very tired decor
Taps didn’t turn off/on
Bathroom door didn’t shut - had to wedge it with toilet roll
Spa bath didn’t work
Dressing table mirror loose
Worst thing: the dreadful noise of the motorbikes revving up and scrambling from 8.30 til at least 11 when we left on Sunday - went on from 8.30 until 12.30 when we left to attend a wedding

Attractive building with very picturesque views
Bathroom fittings in our Executive room were very dated
7.0 / 10.0
Location was good, food was very tasty, bar area was relaxing,
View obscured by marquee, only one small wooden gazebo available to enjoy the views, carpet was badly stained, bed was very soft, service was a little impersonal in the restaurant, not enough milk in the bedroom for tea.
7.0 / 10.0
The views as we came into the hotel were amazing, friendly staff and nice building..
The double bed was actually 2 single beds pushed together. Mine was sunken and uncomfortable, as I'm a side sleeper.
The shower was too hot, very noisy and unpredictable as it kept cutting out. No shower curtain and no shower mat.
