Location was wonderful. Everything else was forgettable.

Central and close to eateries

It was old, and not in a charming way. The rooms smelled a little funny, I had to walk past a dirty kitchen to get to reception, the parking was tight with big concrete pillars and cost $20/night. But no-one died.

No sign to say stay out of room. I didn't give permission have my room serviced. There should have been no one in my room without my permission. The valance had something gross on it. When I pointed it out the receptionist couldn't even be bothered looking up at the picture I took. She did say she tell the staff. But he'll at least look interested.

Comfortable stay, I would stay again

Our room was huge. We liked it. It was central to everything we needed. The beds were comfy enough and the aircon was great!

It happened. Large potential, but did not hit the mark this trip. Wouldn’t stay again.

The room was well presented and beds & pillows comfortable.

No parking - even after requesting on booking and at check in. Strong smell of recreational drugs in hallways. Narrow elevator - although appreciate its antiquity. Balcony with seating outside main room widow alongside smokers balcony (not clear on booking that people could look into the room). Shower head set too low for anyone taller than 165cm (not detachable) - bathroom floors overly slippery when slightly wet (although clearly signed), made using bathroom after showers difficult unless towels are set down. Sound of industrial air conditioning rumbling could be heard throughout the room (loudest in bathroom).

poor people services from receptionist and no love, poor bed/mattress.

The location is perfect, right in the centre of the city. The building is very old, and with room for modernist renovation. The carpet in the building is very dirty and smelling. the curtains are dusty and old. the bed is a king size bed, it was 2 single beds put together to make up the a king size bed. the mattress is very hard. no love or passion in the rooms and the staff. i love the furniture, but lack of love, and lights are terrible.

Good sleep nothing else

The bed was nice the room was nice and clean.

The shower was at chest level with no hot water. The toilet didn't empty as fast as the water going in and didn't completely clean out. The bedroom floor was on a angle. There was a 150 doller bond which wasn't mentioned when we booked it. When we checked out we had to wait in the foyer so the room could get checked before we received out bond back.

Lovely large rooms, with plenty of space to spread out. Large bathroom. Facilities were old style but clean and fresh. Bed was lovely and comfy.

The air conditioning unit did not work. The room was extremely hot. Each time we thought we had it cooling, it switched back to blowing warm air. The walk between the hotel carpark and entering into the hotel was awful, through a back entrance, past overflowing bins. The back corridor of the hotel was in poor condition.

For what we paid I guess not too bad but would think twice before staying again.

Great location for us.

We r in our 80’s and found the bath too high to get over so was unable to use shower which was over the bath. The expelair in the bathroom was rattley and noisy. Decor was lacking. Very noisy on Saturday night - doors slamming , girls screaming and very loud music. We got very little sleep

The reception staff was great, especially the guy called Adhil. He was very forthcoming and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable especially after the water pipes were making a noise in our room and the roof was leaking.

It was alright

The room was very large and all the staff we interacted with were lovely and helpful.

Rundown is the best description. The lift is quite musty and clunky. The walls were so thin we got to hear our neighbours 3:30am phone call, and the floors were so creaky we could also hear them walking around. For the price, its fair. The parking was a bit iffy with our ute, but we managed.

Always a great stay here at the VR in Hamilton. We love that it is a fair price, close to everything

The location is very handy for restaurants, shopping and the Casino. The room was super large, the bed was very comfortable. The only thing that lets the location down (and not their fault) is the boy racers that scream up and down the road in the wee hours. We had a room on the outside, but we have stayed here many times and there are other rooms where you don't hear any noise from the road.

The smell in the lift, not sure if it is oil or what, but smelt like dead fish. Was quite uncomfortable travelling in the elevator (which is very old and needs to be updated).

The key card worked on the door, the instructions in the hand out were clear and informative, advising of the parking.

They ask for $250 in damage deposit either cash or card, but advise when you get this back it will be via Cash, not sure if this means they can also do it on card? The whole Vibe, gave us The shining, as well as eerie and dread feeling The trainer who served us was lovely. No sure why they messaged saying we needed However I am unsure how this scored a 7. We have stayed at places that were at a similar cost price yet the things that stood out not making it worth the price Groaning - elevator, cupboard and bathroom doors, the bed, the chair The smell - musky Dirty bathroom floor No information about places to eat etc. on the counter. We also had concerns for the elevator and the groaning sounds and it didn't show any certifications of safety completed or that it is regularly maintained. Even for a heritage place. Honestly we checked in and after dinner checked out as this place gave us such an eerie feeling for us -we also have been to places such as old haunted asylums etc, and have not ever felt this uncomfortable in a place due to its vibes. This place could be amazing either if it was marketed as a hotel for people who enjoy these eerie things, or if done up while meeting heritage guidelines. Has so much potential, however currently doesn't meet the mark.

The room was a little bit dirty (a few handprints above the windows), A couple hairs left in the bathroom. The shower is actually sort of unsafe, the shower floor is superrr slippery and the tiled floor is slippery as-well, but at least there is a warning about the floor.
