Chestnut Inn

Quiet location, close to the tour spots. Bus stop right on the street. Friendly host and staff. I stayed in the Loft suite, it was a whole third floor. Entrance and lock on the second floor hallway, good privacy during the stay.

Almost nothing about the hotel.

The room was very cold, but they got to fix it for me switching on the heater that was in the room.

While we genuinely enjoyed aspects of our stay at the Chestnut Inn, there were some significant discrepancies between the property's presentation and the reality we encountered. The interior of the Inn is beautiful and full of historic charm. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were attentive and welcoming throughout our stay. A special mention goes to Nicki at breakfast, whose hospitality and friendly service made morning breakfast especially enjoyable.

To be honest with fellow travellers, one of the main reasons we chose the Chestnut Inn was based on the photos and description of the grounds. We were looking forward to relaxing in what appeared to be beautiful, tranquil garden spaces during the evenings and mornings. Unfortunately, the reality did not match the marketing. The exterior of the property appeared tired and in need of attention. The gardens were overgrown, the grass was long, and all of the flower pots and hanging baskets were empty. The listing included photos of a pool, which was neither available nor accessible during our stay. As this was one of the amenities that helped influence our booking decision, it was disappointing to discover it was not an option that was even offered. Additionally, the Inn's wrap-around porch has tremendous potential and could be a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the property's historic charm. However, the outdoor spaces lacked the upkeep needed to create the inviting atmosphere portrayed online. We also booked a room with a balcony, but it was in need of a good cleaning and refresh. The furniture was weathered, and the chair cushions appeared worn and moldy, making the space less enjoyable than anticipated as we did not partake in this area. That said, the interior of the Inn was beautiful, our room was clean and comfortable, the staff were warm and attentive, and breakfast with Nicki was a highlight of our stay. We enjoyed the hospitality and historic character of the property. However, future guests should be aware that the current condition of the grounds and outdoor amenities may not reflect the images presented online. With some investment in the exterior spaces, the Chestnut Inn could fully live up to the charm and promise of its beautiful interior.

Location, easy parking, easy check inn

We were disappointed with our stay. The pool was out of order and not maintained for years. In the room, air conditioner was extremely noisy. Wa asked for earlier breakfast and got old, cold, hard croissant, toast, butter/jam and coffee. Really disappointing. The grounds were poorly maintained. Furthermore, the messages we received were signed Betty and George, whom we never met during our stay. In short, we were very disappointed with our experience.
