Wonderful night away in a lovely cottage. We didn’t get the extra bedding that we had paid for, so had to go over to the hotel to sort. We were given the extra bedding, but had to make up the sofa bed ourselves. One of the spare pillows was mouldy.

The breakfast was good but, need to be hotter. Staffs were excellent, good quality service. We did not experience any evening meals unfortunately, we arrived Sunday and stays till Wednesday morning. The hotel only serves dinners from Wednesday evening to Saturday 😟 We weren’t aware until we made the booking. We were also we’re not aware of any extra parking space at the back of the hotel? I has messaged the hotel about parking earlier but was told to park at Westgate Carpark! Only after we had arrived and booked in, the receptionist told us we could park at the back 😟 having already paid £10.50 for overnight parking.

I've stayed here on many occasions when working and it was one of my favourite hotels then. Now I've retired and it was the obvious choice when visiting Lincoln with my wife. There's nothing wrong with the Castle hotel and if you'd never been there before you wouldn't notice anything at all but it's not the place it once was. There are far fewer staff around so check in, breakfast etc takes longer than it did. The quality of the breakfast whilst better than you'll get in many other hotels is again, not what it was. The biggest frustration was breakfast which usually involved repeated requests for more milk, butter or toast when more alert staff would notice these were needed. On our third and last morning there was a change of staff and it was a much better experience: The waitress/receptionist was lovely and chatty and the food arrived in a quarter of the time it had previously. Other than these minor gripes, the stay was lovely. It would be hard to find a better location in Lincoln. The room was clean, the bed comfy and the shower hot. Everything I need. I get that margins are getting squeezed and that good staff are hard to find but fixing these little things are what makes a hotel stand out from the crowd. I hope The Castle returns to its former glory soon.

My room overlooking the castle walls was spotless. However, the furnishings and decor were a little exhausted looking there and in public areas. The vegetarian breakfast was outstanding. Good quality ingredients and piping hot.

Very impressed by all on offer. Room booked, first class value. Evening meal excellent As was breakfast. Have not had such attentive and prompt restaurant service "for many a year"! Hotel situation close to cathedral and castle. The reason for visit. Also close to long term parking as hotel does not have places for cars.

Very happy with our stay at the castle hotel bailgate. Clean, welcoming, great location. Breakfast was first rate, freshly cooked to order and very tasty. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely go back if I were to visit again.

Hotel was in good location for the historic area and was walkable. The hotel refused to allow me to park the car in the car park and said the car park was for the exclusive use of guests who booked directly by phone and as I used hotels.com I needed to move it. This is apparently confirmed in the terms and conditions but I must have missed this. I arrived early and could have done with checking-in without the need to return to the hotel after 15:00 but this was refused on the basis that the printer wasn’t working. I moved my car to the council car park which is £10 for 24 hours so pretty reasonable and about 100m away. The bed was rock-hard. The room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was nice - cooked to order.

Every thing was great except being an old property there was no elevator and there is no mention of it in the listing. I have arthritis and carrying my suitcase upstairs was not what I was planning on.

A very nice hotel, conveniently located near the cathedral, castle & old town. The executive rooms are rather ambitiously named. I would say they are the minimum standard you’d expect from a good hotel these days. Comfortable and adequate. Walls are a little thin, in terms of noise - which could be a problem if you have noisy neighbours. Also cheap and nasty toilet paper which takes the edge of the ‘executive’ experience. Breakfasts were lovely and the staff attentive and friendly enough, though not always entirely on top of their game. Limited free parking is available on site though not always made clear to arriving guests, so you may find yourself needlessly paying £9 for 24 hour parking, over the road. Overall, a nice place to stay for a short break.

A lovely independent hotel, located near castle and cathedral. For high street shops its a trip up and down steep hill but worth staying near the top. My room had castle view, room has good amenities . Really enjoyable stay and I recommend staying here or visiting the bar or restaurant.

Lovely stay, attic room very nice but heating should have been turned on before we arrived on one of the coldest days of the year! It was very cold and took a while to warm up. Otherwise all lovely and breakfast was excellent, staff friendly. A great location for exploring old and new Lincoln! Would revisit

Staff were fanastatic polite ans courteous. Very nice well kept hotel. A real shame that the service didnt finish on a high, last morning 1-forgot our breakfast order 2-breakfast arrived with burnt/cindered bacon 3-as it was New Years day and close to the end id breakfast service, we didnt point out the obvious, we left the bacon and ate the rest, i said to the server it should not have been put on the plate. And an apology would have sufficed. She said sorry. Little things matter, ignorance matters, we will try the white swan next.

The hotel is in a great location and we had a lovely view of the the Cathedral which was illuminated at night and you can hear the chimes of the bells. Breakfast was lovely tasty fresh fruit salad and choice of hot breakfast. Overall a lovely stay. However there is a one annoying thing which was the parking. When I enquired about parking I was told it was for customers who had booked direct with the hotel, and we could only check if there was spaces once everyone was checked in. I was very cross about this as we didn’t know this. The car park across the road is 24hours and is £9.80. It was just the fact that I felt I should be treated as a guest and able to park no matter who I book with!

A very nice, small hotel that probably can't be beaten for visiting the old town of Lincoln, being a few minutes walk from both the castle and cathedral. The room was tiny, though, if very well appointed and with a huge bathroom, so I'd be very surprised if any others were accessible for disabled people. Overall, though, a big thumbs-up for single travellers.

The Coach house at the Castle Hotel was a great place to stay, close to good restaurants, cafes and bars. Kitchen/dining area was very well appointed with everything you need. Comfortable lounge area, nice bathroom with lovely toiletries.

The hotel was lovely and staff were very friendly and helpful. We did park in the hotel parking but got told you could only really park there if you had booked straight through the hotels website . We were told we may have to move to one of the public car paths. Thankfully it was ok and we didn’t need to move. Car parks are dotted around though. Location was fantastic 5 mins from castle and cathedral and shops.

Friendly staff, clean room, great breakfast and five minutes walk from the cathedral. The room was on the small size but everything has been squeezed in to an old building that was originally designed for something else. Much prefer that than a square box on a motorway junction. Would happily stay again

The room was found too hot to stay during the night. The mattress was uncomfortable, view discouraging with waste bins under window. The breakfast was partly missed as waited 30min and still not served the hot meal. Not worth to stay for that high price.
