Matsuzakaya Honten

Cannot describe how magical our stay was. The facilities and grounds were absolutely stunning and the staff was so friendly and attentive. We stayed with a large group and they went out of our way to accommodate us. For anyone who wants the feel of a traditional ryokan with luxury service, this is the place.

The property is beautiful, surrounded by greenery, full of history and ethnicity.

There’s no sign in English for the property nor the street you need to walk down if you take the bus. It was raining and took us a while and asking to find it.

The property is unique and the history is fantastic to learn about. The fact you have an onsen in your room is great.

I don’t think there is much value for money at this hotel unfortunately. The food definitely helps justify the cost but if you do not like fish, you will not enjoy dinner or breakfast. I also didn’t like the nickel and diming that they do. For example, they charged extra for juice at breakfast and the waiter said we should try it but never said it was an extra charge. For the price you’re paying, these things should be included. It’s difficult to get to but it’s a great experience, just not the best bang for buck.
