Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely public facilities.
Bathtub on the balcony was too cramped without any external view.

The hotel is in centre of Hakone area on bus line H : not near towns but easy to live around. Buffet was good, though some tables feel like cafeteria style. Free wine and drinks at dinner. Gardens are lovely. Rooms big with own balcony spring bath, and with a bit of navigation you can get to the open air multi level hot baths ( swimsuits allowed) at the back of the large children's swimming pool in next door linked hotel
It's a large hotel that can feel impersonal. The most important thing is to message the hotel way before you get there to book a reasonable dinner time. THE DEFAULT Time for dinner through booking.com is 5.30!!! 48 hours before arriving was not enough to get any other time.
