Gora Kansuiro

Living on a traditional Japanese way in a historical place was an awesome experience. Our stay was very relaxing among the beautiful nature, the calm atmosphere and, of course, the onsen. This place is also great to discover Japanese food outside of the famous dishes that we usually know. We only wish we could have stayed more!

The staff on the morning after our stay were incredibly kind, hospitable & helpful. I really enjoyed breakfast, but struggled with the dinner - but that's a me problem as I am not used to the very traditional food that was served. It was presented beautifully & thoughtfully. We were given a complimentary bottle of Sake for our honeymoon, which was very thoughtful & kind. The staff went above and beyond to serve me a completely vegetarian dinner & breakfast. The private onsen was nice & the outdoor onsen was set in beautiful scenery - it was so relaxing. There was nice touches such as a help yourself coffee station & water station outside one of the onsens.

To be honest - we ended up paying around £366 for one night. With this kind of price tag, we were expecting a more luxury experience for the last night of our honeymoon. There was black mould on the toilet roll holder in our bathroom. The view out of our room wasn't really very nice (nothing like I expected from the photos on their Booking.com listing).

Lovely location surrounded by the garden. Outdoor hot spring on site. Truly felt we landed in a different era.

It needs some serious updating. We stayed in the villa, very spacious for our family, but likely not used often. The smell of mildew was overpowering and off putting. It got better after the 1st day so it needed to be aired before our stay.
