Gorgeous gardens and cascades. The onsen was a treat. Could easily spend a month drawing this hotel.
Breakfast closes early for jet lagged travelers .

It is a classic hotel with outstanding design. Everything is extremely well-maintained. The level of service matched the elegant buildings and surrounding garden. I would like to mention a few of the people with whom I had interactions: Ms. Hagikura: patiently changed my room when I had an issue with my allergies. She went above and beyond to personally show me alternate accommodations in different parts of the hotel. She truly made me feel welcome. She is a great asset to the organization. Ms. Tamura: welcomed me back in the evening and was there again in the morning to welcome me. It doesn’t seem like she actually slept and the incredible thing is that she had the best smile no matter what time of day or night I passed through the lobby. Ms. Isozaki: I work in the food and beverage industry and I could not find any fault with the breakfast service (unfortunately, one of my habits). One of the best breakfast experiences of my life. Ms. Sato (at the front desk): give me expert advice about things to do and where to go. In many hotels when you ask someone for advice or information, they have to check with someone else or need to refer to something. It would seem that at this hotel everyone is trained to answer questions without this sort of assistance. Ms. Sato was extremely well prepared and patient.

Good choice of western breakfast.
Hotel’s front desk unwillingness to book reservations at restaurants outside the hotel. Also noticed their lack of interest in booking dinner reservations at restaurants within the property. They always came up with an excuse that all restaurants were full!

Beautiful area. Beautiful premises. Beautiful garden. Could probably do with a bit of fresh air to look less frozen in time, but very good place altogether.
Some of the staff are terrible, in particular the male front desk managers we had to suffer repeatedly. No idea of hospitality whatsoever. Live in their own world. Dreadful behaviour: unfriendly; unwelcoming; aggressive; borderline racist in behaviour; trying to find problems instead of solutions; all in all behaving as if he is the king of a castle and clients are his inferiors lucky to be there. The absolute type of bad behaved people who kill otherwise good hotels!
