Very friendly staff – courteous and professional.
Superb three course dinner and a great freshly cooked breakfast
It seemed quite a late check-in at 4 pm. We arrived early at 1 pm but when we came back at 3:30, it was still a little touch and go whether to be allowed in early(only 30 minutes!)
Other than that, no complaints

Impeccable, comfortable suite. Quiet but convenient location to lake & shops. Fine dining modelled on the Ritz, London. A heady aspiration perhaps without such dining room grandeur but certainly a successful, meritorious oasis in the Lake District. Breakfast was fresh , clean un greasy & exactly as you order it ; eggs in particular. The 7 course taster dinner was delicious, justifying its considerable expense. Some neighbouring diners were frustrated at the time taken between courses but we couldn’t have done the delectable, tasty, beautifully - presented elements justice without measured delivery.
The 3 course dinner portions were small ,aligned with the 7 course taster menu. Although supplemented by an amuse bouche & petit fours, we thought it was elegant, tasty but over-priced . You are left tempted to order a cheese course to fill up. Some other diners visibly paled at the size of their bills in relation to size of their meals. Overall an enjoyable stay albeit prices are right at the maximum when considering a return visit.

We stayed for dinner bed and breakfast. Dinner: exceptional. I’ve dined in many Michelin starred restaurants and this rates among the best. The chicken butter sauce that accompanied the carrot starter is one of the best sauces I’ve ever tasted. The lamb was perfectly cooked and buttery soft. The staff were fantastic - warm, friendly and not too formal yet extremely professional. All of this combined to make our dinner a truly wonderful and memorable experience. If you’re a fan of high-end fine dining then this restaurant should be on your list.
The room was very small, but I was only there overnight so didn’t mind too much but I wld have struggled if there were two of us in the room, but I know I can be really fussy.
