The cooked breakfast was spot on. The home made flapjacks etc. provided in the room were much appreciated. The car parking permit was a great addition. Debbie and Paul were very friendly hosts.

Location was so convenient. The town centre was 30 metres away, but we were away from any hustle and bustle, behind the main thoroughfare.

It is quaint beautifully kept and maintained. The room was very comfortable and the bath in the bathroom was exceptional. Debbie and Paul are exceptional hosts and certainly looked after us in a most welcoming way.

Friendly informative owners. Comfortable bed and fan for hot weather appreciated. Parking made easy with pass offered and hints to help. Breakfast well cooked and especially enjoyed fresh fruit.
Some folk might find the stairs steep but for us it was fine.

Everything. From the way our hosts warmly greeted us and transferred our luggage to our apartment where we were happily surprised with tasty homemade flapjacks, to the generous tips on what to see and where to eat around the lakes, not to mention the divine facilities all neatly and cleanly kempt, our stay in Ambleside at the Waterwheel Guesthouse was nothing but exceptional. I didn’t want to leave. Thanks so much for making a couple of Australians feel well at home.

A Wonderful Holiday Experience
Debbie and Paul were the nicest hosts we've ever had - NOTHING was too much bother. The room decor and facilities were second to none. Everything was absolutely catered for especially Debbie's wonderful homemade flapjacks and complimentary port. Paul cooked a fantastic breakfast every morning. Janis and myself cannot recommend the Waterwheel highly enough and definitely will return.

Perfect stay.
Beautiful quirky little guesthouse in a perfect location. Warm and friendly atmosphere with only three guest rooms. The room was beautiful and totally in keeping with what you would expect in the lake district. Beautifully restored with everything you need. Paul and Debbie were the perfect hosts and we will definitely return.

Wonderful stay in the middle of Ambleside
Debbie and Paul could not have done more to make sure we had a lovely time. The beds were so comfortable and there was even delicious flapjack to come back to after a big hike! Breakfast was great too!

Lovely B&B in centre of Ambleside
Waterwheel B&B in Ambleside is a delightful place to stay! From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with a warm welcome that makes you feel right at home. The hosts (Debbie and Paul) are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and go out of their way to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. The breakfasts (& tiffin) are a highlight, setting you up for a day of walking in the Lakes, with a variety of options, including fresh fruit and full English breakfast with locally sourced ingredients. Waterwheel B&B provides a great central base in Ambleside, for a trip to the Lake District. Highly recommended! 🌟

Fantastic hosts, beautiful guesthouse in a great location
I stayed at The Waterwheel Guesthouse for 2 nights at the end of June for my partner's birthday and had a wonderful stay! Debbie and Paul were fantastic hosts and made our stay very comfortable. We arrived before check in and were provided with a parking permit that could be used in multiple car parks. The closest is on 'Rydal Road'.
We stayed on the top floor in the Deluxe Double Ensuite. We were welcomed with homemade flapjacks which were replenished daily and were delicious! There was also some port and chocolates, a wide selection of hot drinks, toiletries and bath robes provided. You have the option to leave a tote bag outside your room and tick any items that need replacing. The little extra touches really made our stay unforgettable.
The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. We slept very well on both nights.
Breakfast was included in our stay. This included a selection of cereal, fruit, pastries, yoghurts, fresh juice, hot drinks or an English / Veggie hot breakfast if requested. We both had the veggie breakfast, which we loved. Portion size was great and set us up for the day ahead (The beans were particularly tasty).
The location is ideal, in the heart of Ambleside with plenty of shops and cafes nearby. I highly recommend the local Thai restaurant Jintana thai (4 min walk) or if it's a special occasion 'Blue smoke on the bay' (8 min drive).
Overall I had an amazing time staying at The Waterwheel Guesthouse. It was really lovely chatting to Debbie and Paul and I honestly feel they went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. They provided us with lots of useful information regarding Ambleside, the history and surrounding areas and were always willing to offer assistance.
I also have to mention that prices stay the same and don't increase over peak season including New Year :)

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Water Wheel. Perfect location in the middle of Ambleside, but nicely tucked away from any noise. Debbie and Paul were wonderful hosts, and just lovely people in general! The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and the flapjacks were amazing! The attention to detail and homely touches were very much appreciated. Would highly recommend this guesthouse to others!

Autumn weekend stay
Lovely, comfortable and very well supplied (welcome tiffin, snifter of port a particularly nice touch) room and bathroom. Super friendly hosts and a nice breakfast. Loved our window seat overlooking the river and water wheel. Parking worked perfectly with the permit.
