We had a fantastic stay and will definitely return.

The Hotel and the location are great as we traveled by train and then bus and the bus stopped right outside the hotel which was fantastic. The staff were exceptional and friendly and the breakfast was top class. We return here time and time again. The nightly stays could be slightly cheaper as we paid £300 for the two nights plus the cost of our dog.

Room was small and hot. Interconnecting door meant we heard the noisy, drunk couple in the next room. A shelf in bathroom would be useful to put toiletries on.

One of the best weekends we have ever had in one of the best places.

The Pooley Bridge is a truly excellent place. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, the food was amazing and the location is perfect.

Great Dog Friendly Place!

Dog friendly in all areas of pub and hotel. Balcony for outdoor space. Big comfy bed. Really good service at dinner times. Lovely hot breakfasts cooked to order. Quiz night on the Wednesday.

Excellent location. Staff were absolutely fantastic. Many thanks to all the staff who made our stay very enjoyable. The hotel was exceptionally clean, the room was superb, our food was fantastic and very dog friendly. Our two dogs even had their own doggy menu and doggy sausages for breakfast too. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Very friendly and helpful. The hotel & food were excellent value for money. We had a lovely view of the village and surrounding countryside from our balcony and free parking during our stay. Many thanks to all the staff, they were all brilliant.

It would help if they installed a device to get rid of flies in the main restaurant as they were a bit of a nuisance although I appreciate these are to be expected in the countryside.

26°C weather made the stay fantastic. The inn was able to cope with more than the usual numbers of.

Breakfast was good. Cooked fresh after ordering. Cold food as serve yourself. Fresh milk available for room tea/coffee.

The rooms could do with at least one power socket been upgraded to include USB charging points.

The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk to the lake . The food from breakfast to evening meals were all really nice. All the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Helen who helped us out on a couple of occasions.

Disappointing experience

We’ve stayed here many times before and always found it to be very enjoyable. Great location and very comfortable rooms.

Arrived mid afternoon and it was extremely busy. Made our way to check in where we were totally ignored by all of the bar staff despite being stood by the ‘check in here’ chalk board. I eventually had to ask one of the staff if we could check in as it was obvious that nobody was monitoring this - very disappointing when you’ve spent over £200 on a nights stay! We booked in for dinner and ordered a couple of steaks with all of the trimmings. When our food eventually arrived it looked less than appetising - everything was very dry and overcooked. The peppercorn sauce we ordered was thick and lumpy and the onion rings, which were £5 a portion were quite obviously frozen and again very dry. On trying the steak it was very chewy and fatty and we were obviously very disappointed. Nobody came to check if our food was ok so I had to seek out our waitress and ask her to come over as we were far from satisfied with it. Our waitress Kellie was very sympathetic and offered us a couple of free desserts which we declined as quite honestly we were so fed up and disappointed with the whole situation, she then said she’d take the drinks off our bill but we weren’t happy to be charged for steaks that were quite obviously of a very poor quality and should never have been sent out from the kitchen. Eventually after a bit of liaison with her manager she offered to take off the drinks and the price of one of the steaks which we reluctantly accepted despite not being able to enjoy either. Breakfast thankfully was a more organised affair with attentive staff and great service. Reluctantly we won’t return to the Pooley Bridge though as we feel that the two parts of the business are very much at odds with each other, with the bar function very much taking priority over the accommodation - a real shame ….

One of the most cosiest rooms I have stayed in. Loved the balcony. The breakfast staff were amazing. Can’t wait to come back.

The only negative I could find at a push was the noise early morning and around 10ish it got quite loud in the beer garden and we were staying with a baby so was conscious she would wake, but again I guess this can’t be helped when you’re staying in a pub. It definitely didn’t put us off but if you like peace and quiet it’s probably not for you.

Breakfast quality was not consistent we had together first day an excellent breakfast , the second was good but the 3rd one was not great scrambled eggs were too wet and no black pudding on the Fellsman breakfast and a whole burnt tomato

Old charm with modern touches

We didn’t read the fine print- booked a family room for my mother and I to stay. Unfortunately, she struggled to get in and out of the bath and use the handheld shower. Definitely something to be mindful of if you have accessibility issues to consider. Other than that, the place was fantastic and we would recommend in a heartbeat

first impression as we walked into the bar we passed the gents toilet that absolutely stunk of pee and this smell went into the dinning area. not pleasant at all and put us off from the start.

Didn’t meet our expectations nor its website!

Breakfast was great!

Our room was very tired and needed decorating. The bed was more like a large single rather than a double bed! All good do with renewing… a little grubby! The chef had an emergency so there was no food that night! The person who was doing everything was a little “wet” and I don’t mean that personally but just lacked any omph or welcoming!
