Amazing, relaxing stay - beautiful views!

Wow! The views are amazing, the infinity pool is so serene and relaxing. Sometimes if you’re lucky you can see whales in the distance. All the staff at Casa KalMar are friendly, welcoming and treat you like family. Silvia is a wonderful host, who on Christmas morning was dancing around playing Christmas songs and making sure everyone was looked after. The rooms are great. The pets are lovely! The breakfast every morning was amazing, fresh fruit (sometimes homegrown), yogurt, granola, and then a hot plate that varied every day. I would 100% go back. Great location, just a short walk down the steps to the beach.

Stunning views. We liked the size of the hotel, not too big or small. Breakfast on the veranda was lovely. We took advantage of the pool and the surrounding area for some incredible stargazing. The room was comfortable, A/C was great at night. Bathroom was beautiful. There was a lot to like! We had a motorcycle which made getting back and forth to the beach/town really easy.

A special spot in Zipolite

Chandra was the perfect host! She made us feel very welcome and was really attentive. The pool and views were so special. Also, breakfast was the best we had in Mexico and the honesty bar was a lovely touch.

The kitchen staff weren’t very friendly - any question felt like an imposition (albeit Chandra always made up for this). Housekeeping standards also need to be improved- although our bed was made each day, our towels were only changed once in a 4 night stay (on our request). Hand towels and toilet paper were not replenished at all. We felt a bin in the room (other than for toilet paper) and a hairdryer were missing. It would also be good for bottled still water to be available to buy. These would all be easy fixes which is why we mention :)

Zipolite at its best

- Breathtaking location, quiet and comfortable - Small scale and adults only - Enjoyed laying pool-side in shaded areas - Kitchen and fridge can be used for personal items, great coffee at own convenience

- Very minor but we would appreciate more variation in breakfast (maybe offer two options: continental and Mexican)

Awesome

Breakfast was unreal! The best breakfast we had our whole trip. Also, the location was fantastic - out of the hustle and bustle of Zipolite, but not too far either. You just have to be comfortable walking up a lot of stairs!

The ONLY thing that we didn't like about our stay was the shower. The water pressure was non-existent and the shower could not get warm/hot. We asked a staff member to help fix it, but nothing changed. If they are able to fix this - Kalmar would be one of my favourite hotels in the world! We were only there for 2 nights so the lack of shower didn't bother me too much, if we were there for longer I would have been very frustrated.

Casa Kalmar is a perfect selection for a getaway in the heavenly setting of Zipolite.

The entire staff were excellent. The great service started from the moment we engaged with Casa Kalmar to book the room. The setup of the hotel is super smart with the honor system of the mini bar. We loved hearing of Silvia’s efforts towards the environment and community. And … the breakfasts were just perfect and super yummy. The community table for breakfast helped to engage with fellow guests each day.

Rooms were clean, comfortable, and had ac. View was incredible (especially from infinity pool looking out over ocean). Breakfast was plentiful and very good. Staff was very friendly.

The 200 steps from beach to hotel took some getting used too, but that is why the views were so good. You will only get about 45 seconds to 1 minute of hot water in the shower, but this is not unusual in this region of Mexico.

Everything was amazing. Truly one of the nicest, most well-kept and relaxing places we have stayed in in this price range. Our room (one of the suites) was spacious and very clean. The pool area (with the view!) is amazing. Big thank you to Silvia and her team!

Overrated

Employees with adventure spirit. Friendly staff in general.

Weather was awful, lately the hotel doesn't have anything to do with it. However, we didn't have energy, water and internet during the complete stay. It seems other hotels are better prepared for those events. Even flushing the toilette became an adventure under those circumstances. Breakfast was the WoW in my whole Mexico trip. It could have been easier to get some fresh tropical fruits like papayas, pineapples, mangos and bring some fresh juices from downtown. Rooms are OK, but way too small and overprice when you compare what you can get directly in other small "resorts" in town. Due to bad weather, you cannot.go easily to town..We kind of miss the whole Zipolite flare being secluded way too far from the places you can get some meals. In general we were glad to leave Zipolite after the storm.

The Cara Kalmar is amazing but be prepared to walk.

The Casa Kalmar is a beatufiul place. The staff is fantastic the breakfast is terrific. The butterflies on the way to the beach were unexpected but magical. The only downside was having to walk up two flights of stairs.

The walk up the flight of stairs is not for the faint of heart. The road up to the hotel was interesting but worth the adventure.
