The Hotel was excellent in terms of facilities, service and location.

My room didn’t have a view and crows or jackdaws were nesting outside the window, and were noisy in the mornings

The location is tremendous with access to the lake. Clean and simply furnished

We were disappointed with our room. The description was Superior double room with a choice of lake views or of Helvelyn mountain. I chose the Mountain View. The room view was overlooking extensive areas of ugly roofs and air conditioning units with noise all night. Two very small attic windows, only one opened minimally. We had to bend down to get a glimpse of the mountains. The ‘art’ was awful looking like cheap wall fillers. Fake flowers around the hotel didn’t help. Lacks any feeling of grandeur to compliment the surrounding landscape. The first breakfast 8.30am was disappointing no fresh fruit at all only tinned. No yoghurt waiting for a delivery! Cold egg on cheap sourdough soggy avocado. Tea took 20 mins to arrive. We took our own fruit the second day. We are vegetarian so ate side dishes in the main restaurant for my husbands birthday dinner.
