Breakfast excellent, some staff very professional and friendly (especially Gabriel)
The whole place could do with an overhaul (very dated). Water pressure for shower requires a boost.

Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Nice building. Comfy and clean room. Good location, not too far from Ambleside and Elterwater. Good walks around the area.
Just one small thing. Hand/body lotion in the bathroom but no hand-wash or shower gel. Everything else was great.

Loved the hotel. The food was great and all the staff was friendly. The front of house manager working in the restaurant was fanatic, his was amazing and always looked after my dog. A great character and asset to the hotel. He was always asked how you eeee and helpful. The young lad on the bar was also very nice and so lady at breakfast. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

The food was very good, and the chef made some adjustments for my wife which was lovely.
Over powering morning waiter, and bar staff not really knowing the prices and not having the right change. Pulling money out of the tip pot to give me my change,it felt like I was being guilted to give up my change. I was going to tip but on the second night this all felt rehearsed and I didn't feel like tipping. This being said.... I really did enjoy my stay hear. It Was a nice treat. I would come again.

Lovely large room and comfortable bed. Very cosy.
There were too many things that were not available on the menu.

room cosy, food tasty.
Busy at meals, particularly breakfast. They could provide more cutlery and food items for visitors to help themselves to save the staff running about fetching stuff that had run out. Eg.. butter, marmalade, orange juice, cutlery.
We waited a long time for cooked breakfast on our final day because they were serving a party of eight who had walked in. Surely residents should take priority? Breakfast closed at 10am, they could have asked the party of eight to wait until then.

Perfect location for the Langdales, the drying room was an essential facility put to very good use following a particularly wet (even by Lakeland standards) day, excellent cooked veggie breakfast with plenty of options. All staff encountered were extremely pleasant and helpful. Dog friendly, although not permitted in the dining room. Good value for money.

Property is clean and comfortable. Clearly, it is some time since the property was decorated and it does feel very tired although our bathroom looked quite modern.
In need of decoration

All really lovely staff. Gorgeous Christmassy evening food with freshly cooked breakfast. Very accommodating. I forgot to say I needed a cot when booking but they sorted it out for me ASAP no problem.
Mattress could have been comfier if I'm being picky but no different to anywhere else. Would still stay again.

The breakfast was well presented. Lots of choice and you were made to feel welcome. Give it a try because everyone's experience will be different and if you find fault let them know. It will be appreciated.
Its easy to be hyper critical of the hotel. It is a typical Lakeland hotel that is trying to grow the business. There is nothing that I found that is a show stopper. The main thing I did not like was that I was not there long enough.

Bar man/waiter Gabriel brings life and warmth to the place. Good value for money for the Lakes.
Decor and facilities could do with updating, but then it would be less cosy and much more expensive.

Would prefer pots of tea rather than use a machine, although I'm sure if I 'd have asked they would have obliged

Freshly cooked breakfast was excellent.
A lovely bright bedroom.
Friendly staff
As we had booked on a b&b rate and not db&b rate we had to dine in the bar area which was fine for lunch but we would have liked to dine in the restaurant. We did dine in restaurant for breakfast which was lovely. We will stay again.

The breakfast was superb and the young lady on reception and serving breakfast was exceptional, she sorted an alternative room for us very efficiently.
In the first room we had the toilet cistern wouldn't fill with water so we moved rooms. In the 2nd room the room heater wouldn't work although the bathroom heater did and the Amazon Firestick TV wouldn't load.

Our evening meal was excellent
I didn't use the shower but my friend tried to but couldn't work out how to use it and there were no instructions.

I really liked the location - there are some lovely walks in the area. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Maybe the heating could have been turned on prior to our stay - it was very cold when we first got to our room.

Lovely breakfast. Location was good and the staff were excellent. Especially the bartender who clearly loved his job and couldn’t do enough for you.

The location and the food
That there was no TV in our room ( room 2) not anywhere in the hotel. Breakfast took a long time to be served on the 1st morning . Shower was poor and hard to operate. Room was a double but think it was only a single room size. The toilet was very difficult to flush

Location is gorgeous and perfect for exploring the lakes.
We are regulars at the hotel. The menu in the bar has changed and grown, we were sad to see that they no longer do the dog chicken or sausage. This has been replaced with a dry kibble bowl with a few treats. Out dog was unimpressed! The service wasn’t as good as usual and a little slow, the chap behind the bar was quite loud and sounded stressed. At breakfast we had no knives or forks and only one cup. It took ages for our food to come. We asked what had changed since our last visit and we were told that there is a new General Manager. I am not sure all of their changes are for the good, before the bar menu was smaller but very nice and the breakfast table was nicely set with jams and napkins, we had none of this this time, it’s a shame because we may think twice about coming back. It seems they are sacrificing the nicer touches.
