I highly recommend this spot if you want a safe comfortable place in beautiful surroundings

Beautiful grounds. Marco is very helpful with orienting us and giving us lots of helpful tips. There is a communal kitchen that we used all the time. There are a few amazing lounges. It is quiet and peaceful.

Visitors should know that it is hot at night and there’s no air conditioning-just a fan. Also no hot water….but it is so hot out that you don’t really need hot water.

Most beautiful hotel I’ve stayed at. It’s like paradise. Coffee in the morning, host is very helpful, kitchen better equipped than most Airbnb’s out there, loved it!

We felt lucky to be in this space they made

The owners turned the property on a hillside into wonderful gardens full of trees and all manner of exotic plants with great attention to detail, and with the paths and our own terrace, all felt so private, as if we were the only ones there. It was a short walk to the beach and the owner’s recommendation for a restaurant there was right on. The owners were easy, helpful and available but very respectful of our space as we shared the gardens. We also enjoyed our cabańa, which was originally built by them and for them. Though most of the living space was open to the outdoors, all was so clean. Marco, the owner was amazing in every way, even helping me get my bag back after forgetting it in a taxi after travelling to the bus station in Pochutla half an hour out of Mazunte!

Relaxation in a garden

Beautiful lush garden, sparkling clean, an excellent location between mazunte and San augustinullo. The private balcony and hammock was lovely, we enjoyed the privacy throughout. Romantic lighting. There were outlets and lights by both sides of the bed, always a nice touch. Wi-Fi is good enough for remote working, and reliable too. Marco and his partner were so helpful and unobtrusive throughout. Their dogs and cat are so cute too.

Some daytime construction noise (circa December 2025) but not noticable if you are out during the day, the ceiling fan was squeaky until Marco oiled it

Roberta and Marco are great hosts. The place they have is amazing and I would highly recomend it to everybody to vistit here. Amazing rooms, great garden and love the dogs. Will be back soon!! Thanks for an amazing stay it felt like home

Green and clean paradise in prime location

The property is a mini paradise away from the main strip, yet still so close to everything. Best beach in the area is right down the road. It’s a real labour of love with all the effort to keep the property so green and beautiful. Rooms are clean and tidy and the kitchen is SO CLEAN. Was pleasantly surprised with the upkeep they send of the place everyday. Awesome hosts that tended to our needs. Highly recommend this property to anyone.

Fantastic place run by caring owners

Easily one of the top hotels we've ever been to. Marco and Roberta have built a wonderful, relaxing and peaceful place in which we immediately felt comfortable and after a few days already even a bit at home. The room was gorgeous and as well as the whole area (e.g. common kitchen) perfectly clean. The garden is full of beautiful plants, and there are small winding paths and various areas to sit and linger in. Marco and Roberta were super friendly and helpful at all times. We are convinced that the two of them design and run their accommodation with heart and dedication. And that's certainly not something you find very often. And then of course there are the three cute dogs who are always up for a cuddle. We actually missed our time at Posada Olivo quite a bit afterward and would come back anytime. Highly recommended if you are looking for a beautiful, green accommodation that has been created with attention to detail and is run by open-hearted, sincere and caring owners. Thanks a lot the great time, Roberta & Marco!

An absolute dream.

Marco and Roberta have created a little slice of paradise — a perfect blend of nature, peace, and vibrant charm. The space is tranquil and beautiful, thoughtfully crafted with care and intention. We truly felt at home here. During a bout of sickness, they went above and beyond with kindness and support, and we felt so looked after. Everything about our stay felt like a dream. It was a bit warm at night — but to be fair, we’re two Canadians used to sleeping in chilly rooms! Also, just a tip for Mazunte in general: don’t forget to bring bug spray — especially if you want to wander around at night! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful, heartwarming stay in a beautiful setting.

Unique and worthwhile

This is one of those special places that you would only chance upon. It's on the hill above the beach and the whole thing is a jungle garden that has paths and steps, places to sit or meditate or gather with other travelers. My cabana was open to the air but protected and shaded. The main room had a palapa roof 5 meters high, its own hammock, a settee, table and chairs and a fully functional kitchen with large fridge, stove, blender and sink. The bedroom had a double bed with a mosquito net and a bathroom connected. They provided a large fan that you can move from room to room. The owners are two expats from Italy who built the place one stone and one flowering palm tree at a time. They have a genuine personal interest in maintaining and improving their posada. They like to meet travelers from around the world, and they are able to help you discover what you are looking for. Or just sit back and enjoy the Buena Onda and the experience will come to you. Coffee is already prepared for you every morning. There are three very friendly dogs, a cat, birds and a host of wild animals to keep it interesting. Each sunrise there is a concert of wild jungle birds who accompany the dawn. Highly recommended.

We loved our stay in this beautiful paradise ! Well located between san augustine and mazunte, both in easy walking distance. The property itself is a lush garden with hamocks and resting spots, so you can enjoy an easy breakfast and start to your day, or do relax after a day on the beach. We loved our stay and would happily come back.

This is a very special place in a beautiful location. The rooms have been beautifully designed with natural materials and lovely touches of artwork and local crafts with views of the Pacific ocean. The same applies to the communal areas and the whole place has a homely, relaxed atmosphere. And to top all of this, it has the most wonderful garden full of beautiful tropical plants, birds, iguanas, butterflies...a real haven! The owners were very friendly and welcoming and happy to give useful advice and recommendations. We'd definitely recommend this special place and would love to visit again.

Magical

My room was so thoughtful with a little desk for writing, an excellent mosquito net, a hammock seat to swing in and look at the view, gauze over the windows so you can have them wide open all the time without worrying about bugs - there was a charging point to plug in usbs etc and two towels in the bathroom - I loved it!

The only thing that was a little tricky was the very steep hill to get up to the Posada - I preferred wearing my trainers as my flip flops made my flat feet hurt a bit.

Lush Paradise on the Hill

Everything was perfect. Literally, todo super perfecto. There's even cold drinking water in the fridge, which is, as you know, a luxury in some parts of Mexico. The rooms are amazing with a cute little patio for yoga or morning coffee. There are lots of birds on the property, and it's very lush with plants and flowers... truly a little paradise on the hill. Location is perfect. Hosts are so kind and sweet, I already miss Roberta and Marco very much, and their sweet pups too - Atila was my favorite. One of the best places I have ever stayed. If I had my way I would live there for half the year!

Lovely property near the beach

The property is in a gorgeous garden and is extremely clean. Helpful owners who steered us to amazing restaurants and helped us figure out transportation options. The property is up a hill which was easily managed by us (moderately fit seniors) and is only a few minutes away from the beach. Loved the hammock chair in our room. Highly recommend.

This is a gorgeous accommodation and the owners are extremely friendly and helpful. They also have 3 wonderful dogs who love scratches and cuddles (perfect if you are a dog lover!). The decor of the place is lovely and welcoming, with natural materials and lots of plants, including a landscaped garden. There are lots of different places to sit for eating, working, relaxing and the WiFi is good. The kitchen is also well equipped and kept clean. The room was spacious, clean and had lots of shelves etc. (A nice touch for people who are travelling for a while and don't want to live out of their bags). There is no hot water in the shower which I thought would be a problem but Mazunte is SO hot that we were very glad for the cold water. The location is excellent - half way between San Agustinillo (less busy, better for surfing) and Mazunte (smaller waves, more restaurants etc.) beaches which allowed us to go to both during our short stay. We loved this place and the icing on the cake is that they are environmentally conscious. We would recommend to everyone!

Intimate, comfortable enjoyable stay

Wonderful little inn with only 4 rooms and a lush tropical garden. The room was very clean, with no insects and a large bed (hard to find in Mexico). The bonus was the beautiful, large terrasse with view on the garden/ ocean. The common areas were very enjoyable to hang out and our hosts were very friendly and helpful. As dog lovers, we enjoyed the company of the house dogs!

Posada Olivo is a wonderful place to stay to experience the Oaxacan coast. We highly recommended it!

My partner and I stayed in the "Double Room with Patio" for four nights in early January. Our experience at Posada Olivo was all-around excellent, and we plan to recommend this posada to friends and family in the future. Posada Olivo was a beautiful and tranquil place to stay that was well-situated between San Agustinillo and Mazunte. Each beach area was a short 5-10 minute walk away. We were able to easily move between the beach areas without hiring transportation. Our room was clean, spacious, and well-decorated with local art. There was also a common leisure area with an equipped kitchen for general use. The owner, Marco, was a delightful, easy-going person. He contacted us promptly after making the reservation to clarify details about the stay. He was responsive and timely in his communication. We appreciated that he shared recommendations about local restaurants, activities, and transportation. Everything was easy and straight-forward. Our experience was all that we hoped for in our stay.

Posada Olivo is a wonderful place to stay. The matured garden is gorgeous with lots of decorative touches. There is a well functional outdoor communal kitchen which could be very handy for someone who likes to prepare their own meals while staying in the area. I liked our room with a private terrace, and a large bed that was very comfortable. The location is also great right between Mazunte and Augustinilli beach. The host Marco was very welcoming and gave good us good advice about what to do and where to eat.

Mazunte doesn’t have a developed infrastructure for water among other things, which impacted the water pressure in the room, which was not optimal for taking a shower. We didn’t mind that there was no hot water as the outdoor temperature was high.
