The location during the DAY is great. The staff is kind and helpful. But i left already without full refund.
Sadly i left my room already on the first night because the reception closes early and you would be alone in the middle of nowhere. I did not feel safe because the balcony doors were not able to be locked. If it was possible to lock them, then I would not have left. Also there is nothing around and with this price, i expect a free breakfast …. Overall, great place but the service and care can be improved tremendously…

It’s in a great isolated location with amazing views! You would need a bike to get around so best to get one on arrival! The beach is amazing
The bungalow didn’t feel that clean.

The view is beautiful. The snorkeling was very good. The staff were lovely.
Very steep access to everything. When it rained water looted down all access paths and the restaurant had leaks everywhere. No credit card facility so everything needed to be paid in cash. Our bungalow had gaps in the walls and floors so mosquitoes were a problem. The shower not very good.

The view is unbelievable. Get a sea view room. It is truly better than I can explain. The steep jungle going into the ocean and remote location is incredible.
Only 35 min walk to Mae Haad pier.
Unique.
The beach is full of rubbish and in 4 days I never saw anyone cleaning it. It is a small beach and half an hour a day will keep it looking ok. It really spoils the experience. We aren't there for the rooms, we go for the beach.
The thai options on the menu are flavourless.
The tap water needs more cholrine.

The view from the room is nice.
No breakfast include.
The road from the room to the restaurant and go to the beach is inconvenient.

The property sits right on a gorgeous beach with nice deep waters for swimming. You won’t have to worry about sharp corals or rocks, and the marine life is pretty amazing, so it’s awesome for snorkeling. The bungalow is comfortable and tidy, and the AC works really well.
The place is a bit out of the way, so you'll need to shell out about 400 baht for a taxi to get to and from the resort. It's located on a steep cliff, which made for a tough climb, especially with the heat and humidity. Also, the blanket in my bungalow had a bit of a strange smell.

Nice balcony. That's it.
This is by far the worst stay I've had in Thailand for the price.. both trips combined. And I had rooms at 500 baht a night. You pay for the sea view NOTHING ELSE. 1400 baht for a room with no air conditioning is outstanding. Traps everywhere beside the bed where mosquitos can enter. The bathroom was totally disgusting. The toilet seat was so dirty.. like how hard is it to change that!!?? When we got at the room there was hairs all over the bathroom floor.. i made them come back to clean the bathroom. But that wasn't enough for us to leave this place. No hot water at all in shower.. only cold water. Bed and the pillow were also very bad quality. We booked another room at 8pm for 1000 bath which was 1000x better and got out of there ASAP. Don't get fool by the pictures. This stay is not even worth 500 baht a night. Very very bad.

This is a good place to stay if you want to snorkel in the morning before the crowds come. Bungalows are big and clean with good views of the bay. The restaurant is good and staff is friendly as usual in Thailand. The bay has a lot of coral and fish.
Be aware of a few things: It's locaed on a steep hill so there's a lot of climbing. Second, there are no restaurants open in the bay after 6 PM so you need to order dinner early or take a vehicle out to a restaurant in the evening. Third, the bungalows aren't air conditioned so it can get hot a night if the weather is hot.

Beautiful beach and gorgeous view. Food in restaurant is good.
We arrived at 19.00 restaurant was already closed and zero shops or other restaurants nearby. We paid 400thbt for a taxi to the resort only to instantly take one back (and pay again) into town for food because no one warned us before arriving. Staff never even said hello, just straight up escorted us to the room. Nobody cleaned the room in 3 days, and it’s quite a hike to get up to the room. Also no airco, just one fan, when we asked for an extra they said they didn’t have. The location is beautiful but definitely don’t come here if you cannot drive scooter.

Absolutely stunning views over the bay, the hammock on the balcony, and a comfy bed
The walkways to the rooms were in poor condition and need addressing. The room cleanliness was average, the bathroom was in poor state of repair - the shower was 2 shower heads on the same holder, 1 was hot and one cold and you had to try to balance the flows not to get burnt. It would definitely benefit from Air conditioning. The bed linen and towels were also ready to be upgraded.

The location of the huts itself and the restaurant was beautiful as it was literally by the beach with direct views of the sunrise over the sea which was grand.
the resort huts themselves were poorly maintained - we had a standing fan that was very slow and old, the mosquito net had multiple dead mosquitoes already on it as well as house lizard faeces and uncleaned. The bed was nicely set up and the sheets were clean.
The bathroom was poorly maintained, with a dodgy flush, no hot water and the sink drain was just an open hole directly into the ground beneath the hut- that was uncovered with no drain cover - which is probably how we discovered a foot long lizard in our room the same night.
We were unable to get assistance to get rid of the lizard as there was unfortunately no one at Chabalay after 6pm at the reception and had to do it ourselves.
We had decided to switch hotels after the lizard incident the next day and explained the situation to the hotel staff requesting a refund. Unfortunately, the Chabalay team refused to refund us for the remaining days we were not staying there.

I am in AWE. My forever favorite place in Koh Tao. Have been coming to the island for years, but staying at Chabalay was the home I was searching for. The rooms were super spaces, decorated as how I wanted to have my house one day. You don't need more. I have gotten super sick during my trip causing me to stay in the room for five days. The staff was beyond helpfull, and delivered all I needed to the room through rain and after opening hours, without charging me a roomservice fee.
As expected, the bathroom was quite basic. So don't expect a hotel bathroom, but has truly all it needs.

Super place and great friendly staff. Incredible views in a rustic bungalow on the water. Huge and super comfy bed. No AC but didn’t need it with the sliding doors wide open with ocean breezes. Decent snorkeling on the beach but the beach and water did have a bit too much debris
Couldn’t really walk to anything other than the beach but as long as you realize that going in you can stock up on what you need. Breakfast not included and not a lot of options but a small price to pay for waking up in paradise

The bungalows with seaview have a great atmosphere and the view!!! The balcony has a hammock and a roof for when it rains. There is a hot water kettle and a fridge. Nice smelling towels and every day a bottle of drinking water. There is no airco but good functioning ventilators. The restaurant is absolutely stunning. The way it is build😍. In the evening the dog walks you to the rooms as a guard. The owner and people working are the best and snorkeling can’t be better!

- Location is secluded on a semi-private beach.
-The rooms are perfectly nestled on the hillside, offering incredible views, privacy, and a getaway to enjoy peace/quiet/nature
- Restaurant / owners: I ate here a fair share during my stay. everything is priced very well, the food is delicious, and the family who owns it is incredibly nice and attentive.
- Accessibility to other areas: Koh Tao is a smaller island, making travel around it via Motorbike and walking. I did not trust myself via motorbike, so I would walk into town as exercise. Be forewarned, there are some steep hills so would only recommend for those seeking a bit of a challenge/exercise. it was nice that I was able to access town easily and have the privacy and seclusion that this stay offered.
as others have noted, you don’t get all of the common western luxuries, but given the views, the peacefulness, and privacy this place was a perfect getaway to relax and I did not miss the common luxuries.

These bungalows are in the most magical place of Koh Tao. You're far away from any human masses and can enjoy your peace with the best views I've seen from Koh Tao so far from your balcony with see view. The two hosts were extremely nice, also drove me back to the pier without any extra charge. As I wanted to spend some alone time, it was great thar I could eat here. Extremely cozy area with freshly prepared food. You're immersed in the sounds of nature and sea. I was also able to see some beautiful geckos. The beach itself is practically private. On all occasions I was basically alone there. No one came here other than people that lived in the bungalows. It was really nice that the room was equipped with a fridge, desk and hammock and table on the balcony
I was completely fine with it but don't come here if you expect luxury. You get everything you need but what you get is reflected in the amazingly cheap price. You don't get warm showers and everything is quite rural but again that didn't bother me. Just don't expect a 4 star luxury stay

Spacious room with balcony and beautiful view. Comfortable big bed, warm shower, fridge.
It wasn't a great of year for this beach. Not able to spend time on it or go swimming. Resort facilities not available. But we really liked the room regardless.

Altogether all this problems the employees tried to helped out. Served us in the morning breakfast and took us to the port for our boat. Since the restaurant was closed and there was no accessible place to eat they shared with us 5 piece of chicken from their dinner
The beach is full of garbage. The restaurant is under construction and all the tools from it all around the place. There was no light to walk safely to your room. They should definitely not allow this place to be open.

the resort can be described with one word amazing environment. Amazing view from the balcony straight to sea! silent nice plays for those who seek for nature instead of noisy entertainment. you will need a scooter and you can reach the little town within 6 minutes! The stuff was kind and helpful!

Stunning view, private beach, peaceful, simple and tasteful rooms. Great value for money.
Had to request for a bottle of water and soap, it wasn’t provided by default. Wifi was not working. Restaurant was closed (can’t blame them due to Covid) but it would have been nice to be informed in advance.
