Only the view
Food in the restaurant in the evening
Cockroaches in the room and seen them also at night at the breakfeast area!!
No real cleaning of the rooms
HUNDREDS of tourists walking through the hotel each and every day who stay on the beach in front of your room
NO private beach as advertised!! Only like 20 chairs for the whole hotel reserved and no one checking even that!!
Unfriendly staff at the reception
Dirty and non maintained hotel area (plastic bottles, car tires etc lying around
Blackout (electricity) 5 times in one night
Breakfast is lame - low quality and no rotation at all

The location is good with its proximity to Freedom Beach. However if you’re not on a motorbike taking very expensive taxis into town add up and make you isolated. The restaurant staff were lovely with our son which was appreciated.
This hotel felt tired and rough around the edges, and we were not impressed by the treatment from management. My father was quite ill during our stay and was very dizzy, making walking the treacherous walkways dangerous. When I asked the manager if they could perhaps be changed to another, more accessible room the hotel manage raised her voice and lectured me that we should have done our research on Ko Tao and if we couldn’t walk over rocks then we shouldn’t have come. For the rest of our stay she avoided eye contact and not once asked after my father and his health. Besides the disrespect of management this hotel doesn’t deserve three stars as we found mouldy shower curtains in our rooms, trash on walkways and the wifi never worked in either of our rooms (which the staff told us was an island-wide outage but this wasn't the case every time we went into town).
We will not be staying here again and would not recommend this hotel for young families or anyone that doesn’t feel comfortable walking on tiny walkways with hardly any railings or standing up to a hotel manager.

The view was to die for. The value for the price is really great. The staff were the sweetest and most helpful. The food was good. The location helps access two beaches and a viewpoint very easily. And they even provide shuttle from and to the pier. Would definitely come back here
Nothing its perfect

The Location of the hotel is exceptional, the Bungalows are beautiful and we had a fantastic sea view.
Needs more attention to detail, like changing a shower curtain full of stains, pick up the trash and plastic bottles brought by the sea right in front of the resort.

Excellent location, close to great beaches and snorkelling. 10-15min walk to town for supplies and restaurants.
Onsite restaurant and breakfast both also excellent. Free pick up from the pier was really helpful.
Steep walk up driveway to get to local shops and also Shark Bay.

Amazing staff, one of the best beaches on the island, turtles swimming just outside
Cleanliness, cockroaches in the bathroom

The location was good. 👍
The staff were not helpful. We needed a moped and they wouldn’t help. Other hotels managed this very easily. They don’t want to help you find a moped as they want to charge you their high taxi fees. The food was awful and bland. The staff simply said hi and would not help with additional requests. The locks on the doors are padlocks and the windows didn’t close. Air con was not good. In general, it was not great compared to View Point across the bay which was better in every way: quality, support, price, meals, arranging mopeds and tours. Defo stay there over this place.

The location is amazing, with easy access to two beaches with beach bars and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and balcony’s have the most amazing sea views and make the perfect place to watch the sunset.

Staff were absolutely amazing, they really made this trip. I am very thankful to the housekeeping team, bar/restaurant staff, taxi, bike rental staff and receptionist’s. All of them made this stay unforgettable, they would always help with anything needed.
The room was very clean, had a little issue with hot water at first but this was resolved within 10 minutes. We had the most amazing ocean view and best view of the sunset. Breakfast was better than expected. The hotel also assists with bike rental, this is the best way to see the island. I would recommend hiring bikes here to save walking into town.
This has been one of my favourite stays at a hotel!
I can’t find anything bad to say, if I was to be picky I would say the walk up the hill isn’t for everybody.

Beautiful location. Has potential to be perfect. Spacious room. Can rent anything you would need on site. the free transport is fantastic. We was staying near the port and just headed to the pick up point when the ferry was scheduled to arrive.
Basic shower. Some staff more friendly than others.

One of our favourite places in Koh Tao. The staff were incredible, super friendly and always helpful with everything from scooters to ferries. Great location, amazing room, incredible views and a beautiful beach right out front. Can’t wait to come back!
Nothing, all amazing

The property itself was excellent.
All of the staff we encountered were welcoming and friendly, however our experience with the reception manageress was extremely disappointing and set a very negative tone at the start of our holiday. When we asked about our room allocation, her attitude was unnecessarily hostile, a simple question was met with an aggressive response.
Despite our booking being confirmed by Booking.com for two single beds (essential for our teenage son and daughter), we were allocated one double bed. Instead of helping to resolve the issue, we were told to “get on with it or leave, you won’t find anything else” and “what do you want me to do about it!” The only “solution” offered was an extra duvet for the same bed, which was clearly not suitable.
Perhaps she was having a bad day, but her dismissive and aggressive approach was entirely unprofessional and not what you expect when beginning a holiday. It’s a real shame, as the rest of the staff were polite and welcoming, but unfortunately this encounter left a lasting negative impression.

They picked me up for free from the ferry my sea view villa had a beautiful view of the bay and a huge day bed so i could relax and look at the view the room was huge the restaurant that was part of the resort was very good and very reasonably priced and right in the beach a good buffet breakfast was included i could walk to other restaurants massage and shops and other beaches
there wasn’t a pool and the sea on from my of the resort was very shallow but beautiful but i could walk to shark bay which had fabulous snorkeling and i saw several turtles

The resort in itself was very atmospheric, and the room was equipped with a comfortable porch to admire the stunning views on. The beaches were quite nice. There were also super cute cats and dogs at the resort, and one cat started hanging out around our room!
While the room was quite nice and clean, leaving any food opened in the room was not possible without it getting crowded by ants. There was a ceiling tile out of place in the bathroom (which we thought was intentional, as none of the cleaners fixed it), and later two huge spiders came through it into our room.
The location was not the best, especially if you didn't want to rent a scooter (which wasn't even available 24/7), as you had to walk up quite a few steep hills to get out of and back into the resort. Our room was quite far from the entrance, so we had to walk a lot to even get to breakfast.
Breakfast itself was alright, though there weren't that many food options. Plus, the croissants tasted like dish soap on at least one day – literally, none of us could eat them.
There were two beaches that were free for resort guests, and while it was possible to snorkel in them, they were very, very shallow, even during high tide, so one had to be very careful not to scrape themselves on coral.

Spacious huts on a gorgeous part of the island away from the hustle and bustle & only 5 min scooter ride from a selection of restaurants and shops. We were lucky and had gorgeous views of the ocean and bays.
Nothing

Loved the views from the rooms, the beds were comfortable, the hiking you do on site with a viewing point there, being able to snorkel in front. The bag to use during the stay was great when we did the snorkelling day trip.
No info on laundry, breakfast times, how to get around, no shuttle to nearby towns and taxis expensive (plenty of mopeds but with kids, we didn’t want to) so hard to eat out at other restaurants. Were unwell after eating dinner at on-site restaurant but breakfasts were fine. Aircon wasn’t 100% in one of our 2 rooms.

I liked the cleanliness and organization of the resort, as well as the helpfulness and availability of the staff.
Everything was great.
3.0 / 10.0
The view from the resort is beautiful and the room was cleaned well, but overall the experience was disappointing.
The location is scenic, overlooking a lovely beach, but it’s only accessible via steep hills. If you can’t ride a scooter, expect a tough walk or to pay extremely overpriced taxi fees charged by the hotel.
Our room was far from reception and required climbing steep paths daily, not ideal unless you’re very fit. The shower had terrible drainage and the bathroom was constantly flooded. The AC didn’t cool the room properly, even after we asked staff to fix it. We ended up sweating through the nights and counting down the days to leaving
Staff were generally unhelpful and often rude. Since the hotel sits near a viewpoint and beach path, we were repeatedly shouted at for money when returning, despite being guests. Once I also asked them to help me to break a 1000 thb note I needed for a taxi, and they gave me the bluntest “no.”
Beautiful spot, but not worth the hassle

Great position and very comfortable. The house staff and restaurant staff were all super friendly and helpful. Reception staff were friendly and happy to call a taxi if you needed one but other than that they didn’t really what to help.
No information about the resort or the surrounding area. Freedom beach is a short walk around the corner and there is a beach bar there. But none of that was explained when we arrived. The house staff had not left me any tea bags and when we asked reception if they could get us two bags they said they couldn’t. As I said the reception staff were friendly always saying hello but they were not forthcoming with information or even a small task of finding two tea bags
was too difficult.

This is a very beautiful place with two semi-private beaches. The view is excellent, and the large rooms provide privacy. The oversized balcony offers a place to chill, relax, and hang clothes after a workout. The breakfast is very nice, with many options.
Those who like TV and coffee know you don't have the first, and there are no coffee machines at breakfast, only at the coffee shop bar. For those who dislike walking, realize you have many steps and stairs to your room. Though the beach is beautiful for swimming, the shallow water doesn't allow open-water swimming.

Great location and tidy and clean.
6.0 / 10.0
The rooms were basic but comfortable and clean.
The location of our room right on the beach and the view.
The cleaners were friendly and efficient.
The reception staff were unfriendly and rude at times. The first time they communicated with us nicely was when we were leaving .. which maybe says it all! Other staff were fine, but significantly below all others at the 4 other hotels during our Thai holiday.
The breakfast buffet had a decent choice but was low quality for the cost of the rooms.
The location of the hotel is not too far from the edge of the town, i.e. the restaurants, but it's a difficult walk up and down a steep hill, and with no pavements; taxis aren't an option (cost) for this short distance.
Rooms were a relatively high cost for the quality offered

Would have loved a resort pool

Location: We recently stayed at this tranquil resort perched above Freedom Beach, and it offered both charm and character. Breaky: The breakfast was exceptional, featuring a generous spread of Thai favorites such as Pad Thai, fried rice, steamed veggies, and chicken, along with an omelet bar, fresh fruits and vegetables, croissants, breads, and traditional Central European spreads.
Room/hut: The hut was well-sized, boasting a comfy bed, private balcony, and a modern bathroom with a refreshing shower and complimentary toiletries.
Beach: The best beach is definitely Freedom Beach 02. Great for snorkeling, with vibrant underwater life, and an amazing beach bar offering free sunbeds and leisure areas for relaxation
Bonus points: The view of the bay area was breathtaking and truly made you feel as if you had entered paradise
Location: To get around, a motorbike is recommended. The nearest Seven Eleven is about a 15-minute, very hot, very sweaty walk away.
Mobility: Due to its hillside layout, the resort may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. There are many stairs, uneven pathways, and steep inclines throughout the property, which can be challenging for some.”
Freedom Beach 01: it has very shallow water with cloudy visibility, making it less ideal for snorkeling or swimming near the shore. To truly appreciate its beauty, visitors need to swim further out, toward where the boats are anchored.
Many mosquitoes

We were very impressed with the hotel. Exceeded our expectations. The cabins were very cute and the location was amazing. Right on top of Freedom beach, which is a beautiful and calm beach. Falling asleep with the sound of the waves was very relaxing, as well as waking up with the amazing sea view. Staff was very nice and helpful. We used the hotel taxi service plenty of times during our stay and it was always very quick and efficient. If I ever come back to Koh Tao, would def stay here again.
Nothing.

Amazing view over the ocean including the sunset on the sea. Hotel's beach was one of the best in Koh Tao, very calm and with a nice restaurant. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was lovely (way better than what was mentioned in the reviews we read). Would definetely recommend it if you prefer a quieter zone of the island (with better access renting a scooter, which you can do directly at the hotel).
Sometimes the stairs from one place to another could be a little steep, but very manageable
8.0 / 10.0
The free pickup and drop off from the port is great.
The view is remarkable!
The rooms are a good size, and anything overlooking the beach is absolutely stunning.
The beach below is beautiful for snorkelling
To get such a wonderful view, stairs are expected. We didn't mind, but it's definitely not appropriate for limited mobility.
The beach below is beautiful but WAY too busy. If it were dedicated to only the resort customers, it'd be great, but with everyone wanting to come in, it gets extremely busy.
The food at both the restaurant and for breakfast is okay but definitely much better food outside.
The location is at the end of the island so you definitely need a vehicle to move around as the hotels taxi costs between 200-400 baht each way. I think if there was an option to pay a one-off fee upon arrival to use an hourly taxi service provided by the hotel which travels up and down the island, that'd be a great incentive. The location makes it dangerous to rent a bike. You'll notice alot of injured tourists due to bikes.

Our picturesque deluxe sea view room couldn't be beaten. The room was comfortable and we slept very well. The breakfast was tasty and very well cooked. We ate a variety of evening meals that were fresh, full of flavour and beautifully cooked. Strongly recommend booking early due to the hotel's popularity.
Freedom Beach does have comfortable deck chairs to sit in, but the main beach, only has hard wooden loungers, hence the same arrangement would be nice. Deck chairs on Freedom Beach are taken up by outsiders, so hotel guests need to get there before 11am. Those of limited mobility may find the stairs and walkways challenging, so it may be best to look elsewhere. Ten minute Taxi ride is 300 baht each way, into town, so something to consider if you want a bit of nightlife or on a budget. 7 eleven is around 10 minutes on foot, but there are steep inclines in places.

The view from the bungalows is superb and the south end of the island is beautiful and quiet but located nicely next to Chalak beach and the ferry area so there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Bungalows are so comfortable and clean.
The wine at the restaurant is incredibly expensive. They need to get a house wine that is reasonably priced and then you would eat at the resort more as the food they cook is pretty good when you don't feel like venturing out for the night.
The bungalows are quite expensive if you like to stay for a longer time.

AMAZING location, with 2 beaches on the resort! Great bungalow with a perfect sea view (all bungalows have a sea view!) Calm, not very crowded and not loud. would go back in a heart beat. Just rent a scooter for your daily activities and restaurant runs.

We liked the location. Very nice Bay, great beaches! Easy to find a bike facilitated by the hotel and near some restaurants Staff from the restaurant were very friendly.
We have got a room without view, and it would have been nice to say it before as we specifically booked this hotel to see the sea!

Charming bungalow with a wonderful view on the sea
Big and tasty breakfast
Possibility to rent scooters at the front desk, laundry service
Beautiful beach
Lots of uneven stairs and there was some construction works in the resort but it wasn’t so much bothering.

Taking a Longtailboat for Snorkeling around the Islands many beaches, is great fun. They pick you up right on the Hotels Beach. The restaurant is great, good food and great service, with an flexible approach to menu items.
The restaurant did not have fish on the menu, it would have been nice to try out the local catch of the day.
