The breakfast was a bit disappointing

The pub is a beautiful village pub with open fires and original beams. The accommodation is in two coach houses just opposite the main building. We were attending a wedding at Bowcliff Hall which was only a 10 minute drive.

The accommodation is set over two story’s with the lounge and bathroom on the ground floor. The bedroom on the 1st floor. The lounge carpet had a large stain which looked very unpleasant. The bathroom was clean however the showers grout could have done with a clean. We was woken around 3am by a boiler noise we believe that just carried on all night, the bedroom radiator wouldn’t turn off which made the bedroom so hot. When we returned after our first nights stay the room wasnt made up unsure if this is how the accommodation is run but we had to ask for more coffee/milk and wash our cup out. Our first morning of breakfast was pleasant also the lady serving. However on our second morning she wasn’t so attentive and we could over hear a disagreement in the kitchen regarding our breakfast order. We were the only people in there which made it very awkward. I made the member of staff aware we heard what was said and she did apologised. We briefly met the new landlord as we were leaving he was very pleasant and had only taken over two weeks previously. We didn’t complain about any of our issues at the time.

The location was good and the availability of parking was also useful.

The room met all basic requirements. Not a lot of thought had been put into its usability. The bedroom was upstairs, and the bathroom was downstairs, not ideal if you need to go to the toilet during the night. There were no surfaces upstairs to put things, except for the bedside cupboards, which were already occupied by lamps. The breakfast was basic and did not reflect the perceived quality of the establishment. The restaurant, a public house, offered a limited overpriced menu, the service was abysmal we needed to ask for cutlery and salt and pepper.
