I have previously praised the hotel with genuine enthusiasm. On this occasion I was a little dissapointed. I had a friend with me and told them the could look foward to enjoying our stay. As my previous visit, I chose to upgrade to a classic double. £294 for one night with car parking and breakfast. I never quible price and I am happy to pay for a great experience. We were alocated room 227. In my opinion this was basically a standard double. Certainly not the same as my previous room. As it was only for one night I decided to accept it. However, when booking out this morning I did raise the issue. The staff member agreed he thought it was more of a standard room. My previous reveues highlighted the high staffing levels that I thought helped in providing a great service. This appeared to be lacking in the bar on Saturday evening. This mornings breakfeast food was up to previous standard. However, the failure to clear tables left guests to do the job themselves. We weren't the only people effected. We overheard a number of drisgruntled mutterings from other people. That lack of service chips away at a hotels reputation. I sincerely hope this was a blip and not the new norm. I will certainly be staying at this hotel again. I felt it important to balance my previous review.
