Lovely welcoming guesthouse with a super friendly host

Lovely guesthouse, warm and welcoming with a wonderful and helpful host. Room had a good size, decorated lovely, comfy beds, clean, well equipped and private bathroom, great breakfast. Good location, walking distance to centre and train stations. Many thanks to Sue for making our stay so enjoyable, a real treat!

Fabulous friendly Hotel in Harrogate

Very welcoming hotel. Exceptionally clean and comfortable rooms and fabulous breakfast using local produce. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. And it is in great location. Anytime we come to Harrogate we will certainly try and book again.

Great hosts, great location, great food, comfy beds is all we need.

Great hosts, very friendly and chatty. Nice dining room, fair choice of brekkies. Modernised bedroom and ensuite with adequate brewing facilities. Super shower in the ensuite. Very comfy bed and good lighting. Availability of free on-street parking permits were a huge relief to be able to use; also without them the hotel would probably have a lot less custom. The use of a lounge on the ground floor was a nice touch, we'd have used it if we'd stayed longer. Good-sized Smart TV in the bedroom with a wide selection of apps. The WiFi was great as well, great coverage and speed.

We could have done without the form-filling for breakfasts, - we like to see what's available when we go for breakfast, as it depends on how we feel, but I appreciate that portion control is important in a small establishment. The brekkies were very nice none-the-less, especially the Toblerone-style Black Pudding! We could have done without the Smart Door Locks as well, - the growing trend of some modern and expensive Fire Regulations in nice old buildings is a bit OTT in my opinion.

Perfect location walking distance to Harrogate. Sue was the perfect host kind and welcoming. Nothing was too much bother . Super comfy bed. Lovely ensuite with great shower. Breakfast was very good too. Would definitely highly recommend and stay here again.

There was nothing I didn’t like, the only thing I would have said is that the water in the sink in our room could have been hotter but we could live with it.

Great staff, beautiful accommodation!!

We stayed at Shelbourne House due to attending an event local to the area. The lady that runs the accommodation was extremely helpful, and was such a lovely person that very clearly wants your stay to be the best it possibly can be. My husband arrived at Shelbourne House first (due to working in the area prior to our stay), however the lady still went out of her way to ensure that when I arrived I was aware of all the relevant information- even though it meant she would have to repeat herself. My husband then had work early the next morning and she offered to prepare breakfast earlier than usual, although we did not accept this offer it really made us feel welcome and accommodated. Upon checking out she made the effort to find time (even during the busy breakfast rush) to speak to me and to ensure all had been well with our stay. The accommodation itself is beautiful and it a great location! We were able to walk back from The Stray (where the event we attend was) and was able to walk into the centre itself. Regarding the room, we were not expecting much due to how reasonably priced the room was, however we were blown away with how beautiful and boutique-like it was. Throughout the whole of Shelbourne House you can see great detail and care has been given to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and design.

Confortable and friendly stay

Very friendly and helpful owners, always on hand when needed. Parking is on street but permits were provided for the duration of our stay. Good facilities management. Very quiet - we did not hear any of the other guests. Would definitely recommend and return.

The bathroom for our room had a glass window, which - while mostly frosted - provided little privacy.

Harrogate weekend away.

Excellent breakfast. There are also plenty of cafes / restaurants around about 5 minute walk from the property in the town centre. Enjoyed two really nice evening meals and lunch. The spice culture restaurant is a must excellent food.

Exceptional quality

Absolutely exceptional accommodation in the centre of Harrogate. The room was stunning and so comfortable, the quality of the bedding was amazing so many times places have decent rooms but then cost cut on the duvet. pillows & bedding this is not the case here everything is top quality and a real attention to the small details that make a stay so much better has been thought of, Shower room excellent and water pressure in the shower was fantastic, perfect if you have long hair. Large TV, decent brew station, quiet location. 5 min walk to bars, restaurant's & shops. Would not hesitate to stay here again if working in the area.
