Kings Head by Chef & Brewer Collection

Large split level room with ample room to keep dog downstairs in comfort. Beds were comfy and there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was freshly prepared and very good. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The location in Masham is excellent with ample cheap parking right outside.

The cleanliness of the room was a bit hit and miss. Bathroom and bedroom were clean but an area between the stairs and the window was thick with dust and spiders nests (a real horror show). Weeds were growing inside on the door matt. Linens were clean. Floors and stairs were really creaky so liable to wake the other person when getting up in the night. Having to go downstairs to the bathroom would not be ideal for some elderly or mobility impaired guests.

and I wouldn't have comfortably managed more but a large working man or woman might have felt short changed. The rrestaurant was well over half full even though it was midweek and in a dull October. A good sign whem so many eateries are closing for lack of customers, wholesale prices and taxation. Breakfast was excellent, choices from full English for husband and Kings Head Eggs Benedict for me, both cooked to order and piping hot

I wanted to give top marks to this hotel because staff and foodwise it is so good but the room was a disappointment. I know it's an old building but it felt grubby and the decor depressing!, grey walls, grey curtains, badly chipped dark grey painted radiator, the welcome tray lacked any decaff drinks and no packs of biscuits and those irritating satchets of milk that only have sufficient contents to barely colour your drink and thats if you manage to open them without spraying yourself and half the room with tiny droplets of milk,we know cheaper establishments that do better. If I'd been depressed when I arrived I'd have felt positively suicidal by the time I left.. The bed was passable but on the small size and did nothing to raise spirits.

Good location but old with sloping floors.

We were given a room at the top of the property with steep stairs. Room was average but bed was on a slope.
