Good dog friendly hotel. Was our wedding anniversary hotel informed on booking. Nothing was done. My husband tried to make it a special evening but wasn't the sort of place for that! The food was ok but we would class it as pub grub. Nice to have fresh veg though. Room was very warm, but very clean. Nice grounds to walk round. We would stay again .

The hotel was lovely and on such a sunny day we really enjoyed the terrace and gardens. The food we had in the afternoon was delicious! However, the breakfast was not so good. Food items were stale even though we didn't go down particularly late. Was very disappointed with this part of the stay but the rest was great.

Room was clean and comfortable. Shower was effective and bathroom was spotless. Food was delicious and not to much to make you feel stuffed! There was a gap in the black out curtains at the top that let the light in. The hotel exterior lights were on all night, which is environmentally insensitive, as well as kept me up! Also the doors werent that soundproof, so when the revellers came thundering along at 2.40am, what little sleep i had managed to get was short lived! The restaurant felt more like being in a pub than in a hotel. We had to order at the till and the atmosphere felt like being in a pub... next door table were effing and jeffing, which made it uncomfortable, seeing as we had gone to an effort to get dressed up. Food was good, though!

All the staff here are delightful & extremely hard working. I could see how rushed in the restaurant they were but the staff were pulling all the stops out to accommodate the diners. A lovely spacious room but I thought the wash basin was absurdly small. my kitchen washing up bowl is larger than the sink in the bathroom.

Had a 2 night stay here in December. A great place to stay, very clean and well looked after. Food was amazing. The staff were all very polite and nothing was too much for them.

The property was beautiful. Checking in was disgraceful having to check in with a computer and having no one to do it for us when we got there we thought was terrible service. The staff came across like they couldn’t be bothered and everything was too much trouble. I asked for a dilute for my daughter, he offered me a fruit shoot so I said she’s doesn’t like them can I just have a dilute? He said well I can… it was uncomfortable and I felt this wasn’t a big ask. And he should not have given me a frosty reception! Lovely place terrible staff. There was one man there that helped us in the lift apart from that no one could be bothered!

We were badgered to sign up for an express check-in, but when we got there, we were told the screen to do this wasn't working, so we joined a queue. On check out there was no one on reception so we tried the express check out, this time the screen was working. It said it would tell us where to drop the room key cards on completion bug didn't! So we had to go round the hotel to find a member of staff, who said the drop box was by the exit door (which is no where near the reception). You might think this is finicky but it was symptomatic of other experiences during our stay. Thx web site says you can't reserve a table you just turn up,do wd did SBC the majority of tables had a reserve sign on them! We picked one that wasn't reserved but 5 minutes later a staff member came and placed a reserved sign on our table and told us we had 90 minutes to vacate it, no finesse or apology! Lastly the food quantities were meagre. I had a mixed grill and ig was tiny, I got far more for my English breakfast the following day. Apart from that we had a lovely room, very comfortable and really good garden views. We used to eat here regularly years ago when we lived in the area, fo we thought we would treat ourselves by staying there. Would we go back again, no, not with what happened and we couldn't recommend them to anyone else either, we just felt disappointed.

This is the third time I have stayed at the Ripon Inn this year. The renovation and decoration are excellent. The standard of the public spaces and bedrooms are superb. Breakfast is also excellent. A couple of grumbles, some of the staff need to be smarter and friendly. Also the best offers (inclusion of dinner vouchers included within the price), are straight from their own website, hotels.com don’t match them.

Arrived on Friday. Straight to ar and order food. Met Caitlin, she made us feel relaxed and we had a good chat. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you, we both had a great weekend xx
