Hotel was excellent value, very clean with excellent staff. Room had recently been refurbished to a high standard. Although low season (early spring) Oban still reasonably busy, vibrant and with plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants to go around. Had a great time…..

We come to oban every October half term as a couple. It's a quiet getaway and a chance to do as little as possible for the weekend whilst the kids are with grandma, we've had them away twice this year, so our turn to relax for a few nights. We normally stay in the Alexander which has lovely views, a pool and is a quieter part of town, but we knew that the regent had been refurbished and we got a great rate so thought we'd give it a try. There is still work being done to the hotel, but it's very much "behind the scenes" all public facing areas are great and look really inviting. The rooms have everything you'll need for a few nights and are nice and clean. The breakfast is a hot and cold buffet, like the Alex, and is just as nice. All you can eat, and it's perfect for a good start to the day. The staff at this hotel are amazing. There is literally nothing that is too much trouble. So friendly and accommodating. We got a no quibble upgrade as I wasn't happy with some elements of our room, mainly people shouting outside on Saturday night. The lady (sorry I forgot the name) personally escorted us and showed us 3 alternative rooms. If you're just staying over night or staying for a couple and want a straight forward honest room and nice breakfast, honestly this place is great value. The bed was so comfy. Slight issues: as this is nearer to town, there is some passing street traffic on bay view rooms and single pane windows does mean you can hear shouting if there's any rowdiness outside. Tv signal isn't great on some channels unfortunately. Premier rooms are great size, other rooms are pretty small. Clean comfy bed, great breakfast and staff that other people could learn a lot from, if you get a good rate, it's well.worth it.
