Energy and community downstairs, quiet and relaxation in the room.

The energy of this place was incredible! Checked in via the bar (though you could enter via the back door to avoid this if preferred) and were immediately convinced to stay for a night cap and second dinner because of the incredible smell of wood fired pizzas, buzzing crowd and groups of strangers coming together to sing and play instruments - don’t see community like that much anymore and we just loved it!! Even with all that energy we headed up to bed at around 9:30pm Friday night and couldn’t hear a peep, great sound proofing. And room had everything we could need and was very comfy. For the super affordable price I was happily surprised by the staff giving us complimentary breakfast bags and the great selection of teas coffee and biscuits in the room.

Road parking outside is charged 9am-6pm with a 2 hour stay limit. We arrived at 3pm so just parked in the car park beside for ease and moved to the road at 6pm. Not in the property’s control and defo not a criticism just something for others to be aware of!

The Perfect Stay!

The location of this little hotel is perfect, just a five minute walk to the train station annd ferry terminal and right in the middle of Oban town. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants are close by. My sister and I stayed for one night in Room 10 (deluxe twin) which was comfortable, immaculately clean, cosy and had everything we needed. Checking in was perfect - Chris gave us all the information we needed and made us feel very welcome. There is an outside beer garden which will be lovely to sit out in in the spring/summer. The main bar is well stocked with every whisky you could want (as you would expect from somewhere called The Whisky Vaults!). We tried their cocktail , The Adventurer, which was delicious!! The bar staff were super friendly. We were expecting a quiet drink at night but instead were treated to a brilliant evening of entertainment courtesy of a Welsh male voice choir who happened to stop by for a drink. What a fabulous night! We can’t fault this hotel/bar at all and can’t rate our stay highly enough. Just a fabulous place to stay when visiting the Highlands. Highly recommended!! Friendly welcome, meticulously clean, lovely linen and huge luxurious towels! Tea and coffee making with lots of choice and complementary breakfast bag.

Overall a great experience, we enjoyed Chris’ knowledge of whisky!

Location was great - walkable to everywhere in town. The staff of Chris and Phil were great! Easy check-in / checkout. Our king room was spacious enough as was the bathroom. The single room however, had a very small toilet / shower area and the sink in the bedroom.

Just want to let you know there is a possibility that we experienced bed bugs in the king room. We had been in 1 other hotel for 2 nights prior to visiting Whisky Vaults. We cannot confirm if it was from your property or not but the rash (confirmed by pharmacy) was experienced the 2nd day we were there. Just thought you might want to know.

Room was small, barely able to get in. No room for suitcases except on furniture in room. Shower was terrible, barely able to fit. Everytime turned around to rinse off, hit the water controller which turned off. No guarantee when you turned on the water again that you would get the same setting. unacceptable!

A very cozy room in the heart of the city.

Central location with parking nearby. The room was updated and clean. The bed was comfortable.

The room and the bathroom were too small. Could barely walk around the bed or had room to open a suitcase. Could not use the bathroom sink without getting water on the floor. The shower was almost to small to use.

Big comfy bed and great location.

Big comfy bed and great location in the centre of Oban. The bar staff were friendly and helpful checking us in as we arrived in the evening when the reception was closed. We were lucky and got a metered parking space on the street, otherwise there are carparks nearby. We got breakfasts packs delivered outside our door, even though the info in the room said room-only, no breakfast!

The wifi wasn’t working while we were there.

The location was excellent. Good sized room, nicely decorated.

The parking was an issue. Oban was incredibly busy when we visited so we had to park on the street and keep popping back to top up the meter until a space became available in a car park nearby.

They had a packed breakfast! I was not expecting that, and it started my day so lovely, even if I didnt eat everything in the pack.

The layout of the hotel is a little odd, and the doors are thin for noise.

Lovely but not sure I would stay again.

It was centrally located. The bedrooms and bathrooms were on the small side but well appointed and clean . The whisky selection and the staff were excellent.

They do not offer luggage storage if you arrive early or have to check out late. Parking is paid - 20£ for 24 hours I found the walls to be quite thin and was woken at 3:30am by someone snoring in another room.

We had a great visit and really appreciated the attention from staff.

The room, the location and the staff were great. We enjoyed being to close to town and although our stay was short, we had a wonderful time. Chris in the bar was especially helpful and we appreciated his recommendations.

For a short while, there was an odd smell in the room. Maybe something in the carpet?

Central location in Oban, close to everything

This property is right in the center of Oban. It is easy to find and parking is close by. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Providing us breakfast bags when we needed to leave early.

The stairs here are no joke. We stayed on the top floor. If you have heavy suitcases, ask for a room on a lower floor.

A lovely stay for our night in Oban.

The location was perfect for the night before we boarded our boat, The Flying Dutchman, the next day on the Oban pier. Our room was spacious, although on the top floor, but that also gave us a great view of the harbor. The bar downstairs was charming and the live music in the Beer Garden was fabulous. All in all, I would definitely stay at The Whiskey Vault again when I'm in Oban.

Perhaps it would be nice to have somewhere on property to store luggage once one checks out. But given the space available presently, I understand that isn't possible.

Best entertainment and bar in the city

The staff help us bring our bags up the flight of stairs. The bar at the hotel was lively with music. The bed was large and comfortable.
