Room was clean and tidy but a lot of hair in the bathroom room behind the door and along the outer shower tray and floor…. Public facilities including toilets a bit run down . Think the place just needed a good spring clean and some repairs ( toilet seats ) ….. that said plenty of fresh towels, good comfy beds and pillows.

Great bar area for eating in too, with lovely views out to the islands. Very comfy bed, room just the right temperature. Everything was spotless. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent evening meal.

Nothing we didn’t like, but would prefer a buffet breakfast so no waiting to be served, especially if you have a ferry or train to catch.

Very disappointed

Hotel was clean with excellant breakfast.

Room was small with slant roof banged head a few times when getting in and out of bed, tv not working the whole weakend tricky winding stairs to second floor which my wife struggled with as there was no lift in our part of the hotel .no parking available had to park on steet away from hotel.

They stay was lovely, just what we needed, nice and relaxing, spa facilities we're amazing.

Breakfast was lovely, full Scottish breakfast, juice toast ,variety of jams ,marmalade, tea,coffee, staff were lovely.

Nothing at all ,only thing husband missed was sweetener, he didn't ask if there was any available.

Relaxing.

Perfect location on the waterfront with stunning views over. Easy to access the town. Really comfortable bed that made our stay even more relaxing. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout, which really added to the experience. Breakfast was also lovely and there was an extensive menu.

Some of the furniture in the rooms is a little worn but this didn’t affect our stay at all.

We have stayed here before and will definitely stay here again.

The views in the front area are just superb. Near the town but not in the town. The staff were extremely helpful even taking our bags to the rooms as my husband had just had a knee replacement.

The price of evening food was the most expensive we had to pay. Breakfast was very good but at £20 a bit pricey. it was very good that they only had a !0% service charge We do feel that the service charges in other hotels and resturaunts are getting out of hand.

Wonderful stay!

We loved our entire weekend at the hotel. Great food at breakfast and dinner. Wonderful service from all the staff. The bar area, especially the seats by the fire were so cosy and there were games available to play so we spent a lot of time hiding from the stormy weather there which was lovely. It was also my birthday and the staff were so kind & made it extra special. We loved our time in the thermal suite too, even in the stormy weather before it got too bad.

This isn't something that could be easily changed but I think the layout of the thermal suite, spa rooms and changing room probably takes away from the relaxing, 'zen' experience. Having to go in and out of the main hallway between rooms maybe spoils it a little, but it wasn't enough to ruin it.

Lovely old traditional hotel with a lot of character which is definitely worth a visit

Staff were lovely and our room was small but very clean. Everything worked ie heating, towel rail and shower was decent too even although we were on the top floor. Good selection of teas and coffees etc and choc biscuits in the room for us too. Loads of comfortable seating areas for guests to chill which were nicely lit at night. Our room was serviced on the second day even although we did not request this and biscuits etc were all replenished so impressed with this.

It is an old building so found some of the seating areas to be a wee bit chilly but we were in the middle of a horrendous storm so the wind was pretty excessive. Our first time at this hotel so found the entrance to be a bit confusing as you could enter from both sides of the conservatory. Maybe a sign to point to reception area which was really just a desk.

Apart from the unfortunate departure incident, my stay was otherwise a very pleasant one.

Shower was very good, lots of hot water. Very comfortable room and sea view from my window.

I was disappointed by a lack of parking facilities at the hotel, although I did find safe parking nearby. As the hotel advertises valet parking only, at £25 per night, I took my van into the parking lot only to transfer my luggage the morning of departure and realised the space was very tight for turning with my longer vehicle. Although I performed a multi-point turn, I unfortunately scraped my front bumper due the limited space. Perhaps an explanatory notice warning 'Limited Turning' as well as Valet Parking Only would stop this happening to somebody else.

The view was amazing. Loved the breakfast and the lounge.. will come back! Try the oysters and the eggs royale!

Cancelled by hotel last minute.

Did not get to say, so cannot comment.

The fact that our booking was cancelled 1 hour before check in. Electrical fault in hotel. Needed to book alternative at very short notice. Walked past hotel later that night and looked like every light on the hotel was on. Also took 10 days for refund to be processed. Very disappointed.

One of the display cushions in the bedroom had a grim white stain across it and had been placed on the pillows we had to sleep on. The bedroom we had was quite dated and the finish a bit shoddy for what's advertised. The building you sleep in isn't the one on the photos, it's and old rendered building behind it. The paint work is poor for the type of hotel it's trying to be, drips of paint down the back of the toilet door and visible touch up patches on the walls. One staff member at the bar just couldn't smile, she made us feel awkward both times we wanted to relax in the bar area as we felt like an inconvenience ordering drinks. Everyone else we encountered was absolutely lovely tho, all the dinner staff and reception.

We arrived at the property at 19:30, upon arrival the receptionist made it aware to us that our room hadn’t been marked

The property was beautifully presented on the beach front. The bar area looks right into the water.

The bedroom we had had mould around the bottom of the shower and all around the windows. The elevator didn’t work and we were not made aware of this until arrival. Now this didn’t make a difference to us as we were able, but we did bump into a lady who required assistance and couldn’t use the elevator. The hot tub was out of action and we only got made aware of this when another couple had enquired into using it.

Location

Our stay was very disappointing and definitely not what we expected from a so-called 4-star hotel. When we booked, there was no mention that you had to pay extra to use the hot tub and steam room — something that should be clearly stated in advance. To make matters worse, the hot tub wasn’t even working during our stay. We also booked a table at the hotel restaurant and were told there were two dining areas, yet we weren’t given any choice about where to sit. So we were sat in the bar. The menu was very poor with limited options, and overall, the dining experience felt below average. For the high prices they charge, the quality and service simply don’t match. The hotel is overpriced and overrated — it does not deserve a 4-star rating. We left feeling very let down and wouldn’t return or recommend.

Cosy property

Lovely views, cosy & comfortable hotel. Dinner was delicious, had the fish of the day both nights and did not disappoint. Friendly & helpful staff. Requested a room change and there was no issue for this to be done even kept out bags at reception for us. Breakfast tasty & hot. Massage was great & therapist was very attentive & polite.

Small details.. Mattress topper had separated so was very lumpy. We tried to fix this ourselves but noticed a stained sheet underneath which we took off. Dust on towel rails in bathroom & shower dripping onto floor through gap in shower screen. Room was extremely hot overnight and window only opens ever so slightly. Did not sleep well at all which was a shame. Did ask for a fan which we got but the heat was almost unbearable.
