Great location, decor, amenities and staff!

Top notch! Great location, decor, amenities and staff! Alltavona House is a 5-10 minute easy walk to Oban center. It is waterfront so has expansive views of Oban bay. The check in process is easy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I really appreciated the high comfort of rooms and toiletry products supplied (including hair conditioner!). This was a repeat stay for us and I would not hesitate to stay again. We did stay in a water view room which was an added bonus to our stay.

Unique property in Oban, Scotland.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Alltavona House. Great location within walking distance to the city center. Our family stayed in 2 different rooms. The beds were comfy, rooms were clean, and the owner Carol, made us feel at home. We just wish we could have stayed longer.

Lovely place in ideal location - a few minutes walk from town but with easy parking nearby. Decor very appealing and welcoming.

Great spot, comfy and quaint

Cosy room in a very quaint B&B. Interesting decor. Our room for 2 nights and bed was very comfortable, not sure all rooms the same. Had a lovely bath. We didn't do the breakfast but it looked good. Good location for Oban, a short walk from the busy town.

A Boutique Oban Treat

This was my special Birthday holiday We booked Alltavona we had not stayed in Oban before. We arrived at the beautiful property and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The hosts were amazing, friendly and also gave us great advise with regards to everything we could do in the area. We had the rear Cabin very spacious a little home from home, recomend it. Thank you so much. We loved it !!!

Would absolutely stay again if in Oban.

Best buffet breakfast I've ever had in the UK. Great selection of breads, meat, cheeses and fruit. Hot breakfast looked very nice too. Nice bedroom with big quirky bathroom. Great staff (Carol) - as helpful as you could get.

Not worth the price IMO

The view was spectacular, and it was conveniently close to town without being too close to feel the crowds. The continental breakfast was delicious, offering lots of variety. The room was very spacious, and had lounging chairs in front of the bay window to maximise enjoying the view. They unexpectedly serviced the room on the second day which was a nice surprise.

A few little things, like a coffee machine was advertised in the room facilities but it was instead a kettle. There was only a single small rail for all the two towls and two hand towls - an extra hook here or there would have been appreciated as the towls were all bunched/piled on the little rail. The breakfast was advertised online as being £10 per person but when we arrived were informed it was £15. There was double paperwork to fill out - we had to fill in pre-arrival forms both online and in person asking for the same details. Lastly, we were a bit uncomfortable by one staff member who appeared totally overwhelmed one morning when we asked for a breakfast last minute. As it was a continental buffet breakfast we thought we would just ask if it is possible and then wait for the other guests to finish so that they would get first choice, but stressed that it was totally ok if they couldn't accommodate us at such short notice. She was kind enough to agree, but she kept entering the breakfast room sighing loudly and speaking under her breath about how stressed she was and how she was about to 'abandon ship'. At one stage she even bent over a table with her face in her arms and looked like she was about to cry. We felt awful. We knew we were taking a chance in changing plans last minute and we tried to show our appreciation. However, since everything besides the coffee was already prepared, and we were still within the allocated breakfast times, it was very awkward. All in all, it was a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Nice decor, some rooms can be a bit tiny and noisy

It's nice and cosy with free parking.

The room I got this time was slightly too cramped, and I had to turn off the mini fridge as it was too noisy. The doors did nothing to filter out other guests walking through.

Oban lovely stay

the beautiful place with amazing vibe and design. very clean, we really love the bathroom, a spacious shower. lovely welcoming, easy access to the room. great location, not far away from the center with a parking place. except the bed it's a gem!

unfortunately we did have no good sleep, the metal bed was creak constantly with every move, the mattress was very soft what didn't help. could you please fix it? - room 2 the breakfast price has been increased on day arrival, we understand the reason, but the page should be updated.

Disappointing

location

Room was extremely small and only had a very small window with view to sea. We had stayed here a few times before in double room with very large bay window, or large flat windows. The room we had this time (on second floor) was about half the size, with small window, yet was the same price as the other double rooms.

We would definitely recommend Alltavona House!

We loved the breakfast and the kindness of the people who were there for us. We loved the decoration. We were delighted that we could have a twin room (my husband is disabled and this made life so much easier for both of us). We loved that there were seats and space outside to sit all day if we wanted to. We also enjoyed the absence of crying/boistrous children.

Car parking was a bit tight (but it was ok so long as the person trapping you in was able to be contacted and then move). A walk-in shower would have been helpful for my husband as he could not negotiate the sides of the bath but we only stayed 2 nights so we made do.

On the whole, Alltavona was okay for a short stay but wouldn’t have wanted to stay any longer than that as it had a tire

* location was perfect with lovely views over Oban, the harbour and the islands. * bed was quite comfortable and the shower had a good force to it. *manager/owner? was contactable by mobile which was handy as we needed to ask a question.

*Too much clutter in the room. 7 cushions in total on the bed which we had to store under the window. They were not necessary. Had to put dressing table ornaments in one of the drawers so that there was room to lay out our stuff. Ornaments are not necessary in a hotel/B&B. It makes the cleaner’s job more difficult and time consuming. *The only wardrobe had a very narrow depth to it so couldn’t really unpack clothes to store in there. It was already full of some other bedding anyway. *The bedside tables had lamps on them that were absolutely huge and just got in the way. Smaller ones which were more suitable for the tables would have left more room to store reading material, tissues etc, things that you need close to hand when in bed. *Hooks in the bathroom would have been helpful for hanging up night attire/dressing gowns. *The bathroom tap was an awkward design and dripped. *No-one cleaned the room yesterday, however it was not immediately clear that we had to hang a notice on the door handle asking for this service. B&B’s usually have relevant information on top of the dressing table but not in this case. There was a Do Not Disturb sign for putting outside but we didn’t think to turn it over for the sign that asked for cleaning. *I messaged to ask for clean towels and was asked to locate some from the cupboard next to our room but had to sift through them for ones that smelled and looked fresh. Some of them were stained. *The bed set was clean but quite old so didn’t present a fresh look.

Beautiful decor.

Lacking practicality. One towel rail in bathroom and nowhere to hang towels up. Only handheld liquid soap dispensers. At the price would have expected quality toiletries- shampoo, conditioner, shower gel. Room seating looked great but very low. Not enough breakfast croissants or bread. Had to have toast made.

Great staff who responded promptly to messages, even at night. Check-in procedures were easy and house is noteworthy. Our room (#9) was well appointed and comfortable with a great shower.
