Arbour Guest House

location was excellent. only a short wander into town. bed was ok.. a bit soft as we rolled into middle but we managed to get a sleep.

the smell was awful. it was as if someone was ill. bathroom was smelling of sick and poo. when you went into the house it hit you at night but was still there in morning. our room had a small sink in it . when you ran the water it was sour. my stepdaughter used her own towel and when we got home the horrid smell from the bathroom had stuck to it. front room very noisy but window was open as heating was on and no way of turning it off as the tops were missing from either side. eventually only slept there because of the smell unfortunately.

Excellent location; comfortable bed; clean towels and bedding; kettle, tea and coffee available; tiny bathroom but with a good shower- hot and excellent water pressure, easy check-in.

All of these issues are because it is set in a Victorian building with original features and therefore unlikely to be able to change: very narrow staircase to get up to rooms; bathroom was tiny and had some crevices growing black mould, but I think it’s basically impossible to avoid that- the rest of the room is clearly constantly cleaned.

The Arbour house Oban is a 2 star accommodation but it is extremely very comfortable and clean the bathroom very clean and the staff very helpful and of course Oban a magnificent little town totally pleased with my stay.

Not being able to stay much longer

I liked that it was central to the town.

When we arrived, we was told to bring cash on our messages. We did, and then was informed that the machine was working. The lady who runs the reception was a bit hard faced, I felt uncomfortable when face to face with her bokking in The cleaners must not change the bedding. I found a plaster in the bed from a previous guest, they must have just stayed the night and the cleaners probably couldnt be bothered changing it so made it back up without changing. The fridges need updating. The shower could do with being replaced, and cleaned properly now and again. We stayed, but I dont think I will again, my back is wrecked from the mattress. However, my partner left his phone in the room when we left, andnwhen we returned, the lady cleaning was lovely and let him have it back. Its ok for a night to just get your head down if you are only passing through the town. I saw comments about no toilet roll, when we stayed the window in the bathroom was loaded with about 20 rolls. We paid £264.40 for 3 nights, I don't think the price reflects what we paid, it was expensive. Again, I don't think we will stay at this specific place again, or the hotels that are connected with arbour house if they are all similar. Also, other guests!! Have some respect for the place you stay, regardless of your opinion. Clean the bathrooms when you have used them, and keep the noise down.
