Location was excellent with easy walk to the main street and local amenities.
No wifi in the room device unable to stay connected. Very poor

The room was clean, comfortable and modern. The coffee machine with the pods was a great touch and much appreciated. I got plenty of messages to access the accommodation keys, facilities nearby and if there was anything else I required. I did not have any direct contact with staff, but I felt very welcome at Raniven.
The bathroom was very tight and I struggled to use the basin as it was small and the tap big. To fill the water filter on the coffee machine was a bit of a challenge, but okay.

Great location. Nice decor. I stay in single rooms a lot for work in Oban and mostly they are awful. My room was fresh, roomy with very comfy bed.
I caused a little bit of inconvenience but the owner was very understanding and we resolved the issue amicably.
I liked everything.

Nice clean apartment in a very handy location. Just a short walk into town centre and to harbour. Appreciated the on site free parking.
Not a huge issue but the layout isn't ideal .Two big windows in the bedroom area but the main seating area was very dull.

It was a good location in Oban - an easy walk from the train station, and on the main street of town.
The check in was a bit wonky because there is no staff there and the doors are hard to lock and unlock. Its fine that there is no staff since its a guest house, but some mention of the tricks needed with the door locks would have been helpful. Room is very small, as is the bathroom, and thats fine. Bathroom had nowhere to put personal items (no countertop or shelf of anything) which was quite annoying. The room had a weird smell that I couldnt put my finger on. But the worst part was the bed. The mattress was so horrible and slated, that I almost fell out of bed my first night. To avoid this, I slept with my head at the foot of the bed the second night, which was better but still horrible. Raniven sent me an automated message to check on my stay, and when I expressed my concern abotu the horrible mattress, I never heard anything back, until I got the next automated message about them asking if I wanted to extend my stay. Other than the horrible mattress it was more or less ok, but I wouldnt recommend.

We stayed in Room 5 on the first floor. The room and large bathroom were both spotlessly clean. There was no reception on site, however management were accessible by message and kept in contact via bookings.com with access details and recommendations for restaurants etc. It is in easy walking distance to the town centre and some parking is available on site.
We didn’t feel the property was in the best street/area of Oban. The car park side of the building is covered with black plastic and seems to be undergoing repair or renovation. Not a good look. The wifi was difficult and unreliable connection.

Good location - 5-10 min walk from train station/harbour. Near to shops and restaurants and distillery. Easy to follow booking in instructions. Very clean room and shower room, new carpet, clean bedding. Tea/coffee making facilities. Toiletries provided. Car parking available.
Probably due to my age (60) wasn’t a fan of the dark colours although it did look newly decorated and is the current fashion. Having said that at night with the lamps on it did feel cosy and the room was warm. A small fridge would have been appreciated

Pleasant room, lovely decor, a very comfy bed and very little noise from traffic outside.
A towel rail in the toilet would have been handy. Nothing else negative to say.

Good parking, great quiet location. Laundry service around the corner.
Unusual sewer like odor from shower in rm 2. Ground floor.
8.0 / 10.0
room was a decent size, location was good
the ensuite was a little tight for space, a corner cistern + toilet would have created a little more room and a couple of hooks to hang clothes on.
I lost the key box number and had to wait more than an hour for somebody to get in touch with the number

It would have been great if a couple of drinking glasses were provided so we could enjoy a wee dram or even a glass of water and the bedside lamps could have brighter globes as it was impossible to read by them.

Really great location being walking distance to lots of restaurants, cafes, and attractions. The king sized bed was very comfortable as well. It was nice to have non-instant coffee with our room having a coffee machine + easy parking.
The bathroom was pretty small all around (the sink and shower in particular).

I've been in Oban many times and really enjoyed all the things Oban has to offer., but I come here to visit family which is the best bit about being here.
There is nothing I don't like about Oban

The location is close to the city center and the car park is close to the house. The apartment is clean and tidy
we didn't like our communication. We had a problem entering the building, s o we tried to call him, but we didn't receive a reply. The same goes for text messages. In the end I had the brilliant idea to look for him on whatsApp. He replied to me saying that the door entrance was ready to host us. It was a bead host service

Location; facilities; great kitchen; VERY comfortable bed; great hosts. When we had a wifi issue the owner was extremely helpful and went out of their way to fix the problem.
We were grateful to have a washing machine and clothes airer, but we would have appreciated a clothes dryer too. Our clothes did dry eventually though.

Quiet, spacious
Bathroom too small. No luxury in room. No biscuits
8.0 / 10.0
The room is very clean. The bathroom is very clean. The hallway is very nicely decorated. Parking is private and free. The staff sent many long messages to explain everything in details. The information is rich, if you have time to read them.
No desk or any shelf space in the room. No place to hang the cloths. All the staff, including cloths have to be put on the floor. So the room facilities are not satisfactory.
9.0 / 10.0
The location and parking were excellent. The access and other details were very well communicated. Quiet street, quiet neigbours, easy walk to restaurants and harbour. Neat and clean.
Small niggly bits of criticism.
The kettle is far too large to get water from the tap, if that is the idea. Filling a kettle from the bathroom is a bit weird.
Being a host myself in South Africa, I supply a 1.5 litre bottle of water for my guests, and they can buy again for themselves on a longer stay.
The single container for all the little bags means one has to dig to the bottom to find sugar, e.g., tipping out all the coffee, tea and milk. Four small, see-through containers will be easier and will look smarter. Only one teaspoon was supplied.
It was a bit chilly, but granted, I did not bother asking for help with the heating since I just slept there and walked about a lot.

I liked the location of the property.
Theres no staff which is alright to some extent but just seemed odd, room was awkward to find, holes in walls, paint peeled off, messaged staff to ask for possible earlier check in and avoided the question, messaged them to ask for WiFi, not one single sorry or thank you or anything friendly, I just seemed a nuisance. Could hear everyone else in rooms, beds were super uncomfortable.
I was in room 2 which meant can never keep the window open through the night as had people walking past constantly and looking in, black out blind not suitable for ground floor, also no fan, air con, nothing to cool you down, not an option to get more pillows, towels etc. room wasn’t cleaned until the day we were to leave. Never slept one bit with worry. Too hot, people staring in, loud drilling noise outside in garden opposite. Won’t be back. For what we got also, £101 per night is unacceptable. Maybe that for both nights but that was just crazy money.
