Corran House Guest House

Efficiently run guesthouse and bar, easygoing and without pretensions. Markie Dans music festival was on when we stayed. Good bands. Dinner good value and served quickly. Sound was well controlled - bands hardly audible from our room when we retired for the night. We liked the community kitchen idea and the freedom to make your own breakfast or buy stuff from the shelves and fridge.

Great location facing water and just down road from main shopping area. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The pub underneath was convenient for meals and food was very good.

When the pub under building closes it is noisy for quite some time with people hanging about being merry out front. Would have got the rooms much, much cheaper if I booked last minute instead of months ahead.

The location and vibe was lovely upon check-in, staff and guests were lovely and friendly. the one kitchen available looked clean and upon checking in our room overall was clean also. a massive plus to the room throughout our stay was that it was cosy and warm with heating on and tv and wifi worked perfectly.

We were not told the kitchen in our building was under refurb so everytime we even wanted a cup of tea we had to use the kitchen in the other building next to us. I found two short black hairs in my bed which obviously was very disappointing but due to the busyness I didn't see the point in asking to change rooms, (plus I think when booking I got the last twin room) there was fights going on on the saturday night down at markie dans amongst a pubescent crowd of boys (which we seen and heard) plus a bunch of young girls hanging around the entrance area.
