Only one thing, the carpet it is not good idea especially when the dogs are a bit older, the room was a bit smelly, but spotless. Better idea is a laminate floor, much easier to clean.

I can't say I do not like the Scottish rain, but I do. I can say the tenderness of thoughtful people is appreciated by most, if not some, do an experience snot to be missed! Sorry I contracted a cold, so there I was, being left alone, which I really did like when ill but the snot left a lot to not want to complain about! Mine

Great stay for me but not for my car

The room was very clean and cosy and the bed was super comfortable - i slept like a log. The location was fab and I had a great sea view from my window

There was noise from other guests and there was some kind of buzzing in an adjacent room that kept going off intermittently 24/7. I thought i had parked my car in a safe enough parking space but at some point during my stay someone had left a large scrape on my car from theirs. At night people were squeezing their vehicles into the car park so I suspect it was someone trying to squeeze in who misjudged the area they were manoeuvring in. The staff didnt seem to move any cars squashing in even though there was free parking on the road outside from 6pm. I emailed the hostel to let them know about the damage and ask if there was cctv or any witness to my car getting scraped but so far, nearly 5 days later, I've not had a reply

Great place to stay the night before catching ferry out of Oban. Love to support Youth Hostels

Stayed in the annex and the door lock which is operated with a key card was very difficult to open. This happened after the desk staff had left but another visitor shouldered it open - so not broken, just needs a bit of WD40 i expect

Really super accomodation

The staff were welcoming and super friendly, the location is great and includes parking which is scarce in Oban and the private room with ensuite was fabulous.

Oban hostel, good value for the location

The cleanliness of the space when we got the room, also the location was perfect: close to everything by foot. The room was actually big. Their breakfast is quite big as well. Easy to come in and out and felt safe. Loved the fact that they had private rooms with spacious en-suite bathroom with a separate lounge to cook and/or chill. Scotland is expensive and this place is good value for money for the area. We would come back!

It's on the older site, if you like cute/design hotel this isn't for you. The carpet could use a change but that didn't bother us otherwise.

Top world class hostel

Loads of space, and relaxing areas, helpful friendly staff. Amazing views. Relaxed no brother environment. Free WIFI. Very good value, I would of expected to pay more. Free to come and go as you please. Plenty of information on hand to help your stay in the Highlands and islands. Plenty of parking. Close to the town. Big kitchen. Tea and coffee included. Loads of kitchen stuff, loads of fridge space. One of the top hostels in the world, I know I've seen slot

Serviceable hostel in a nice location but beware the creaking beds and floorboards.

The hostel is located close to the water and a short walk from the city centre where you will find lots of bars and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast in the morning was really convenient.

The beds were very creaky and the door to our room would beep if it wasn't perfectly closed when leaving the room. The hostel is in an old building so there is also lots of ambient noise and creaking floorboards. Did not get a very good night's sleep with all the noise.

Pleasantly surprised

1st time in a youth hostel for a very long time. Pleasantly surprised on our visit though. The location directly overlooks the sea which was great. 3 of us had a private room which was perfectly adequate for our stay. Clean and a decent size. We had travelled up on motorbikes through torrential downpours so the large drying room was a godsend for all our kit. I would definitely stop here again. Cooked breakfast was great as well.

A good place to explore Oban. Would definitely recommend it.

The location was top in Oban, close to the sea. and close to eateries. Our room was nice and spacious with an ensuite bathroom. Thankfully no climbing of stairs. I liked the kitchen and the lounge (although the lounge in the main house had the better views.) I like the well-structured way in which the Scottish youth hostels are organised and I appreciate the efforts at recycling.

I understand that fire is always a hazard and that there have to be fire doors but compared to other youth hostels the ones in Oban were a bit exaggerated and very heavy to handle.... Press against 6 heavy doors respectively pull them just to walk about 10 m to our room was a bit of a repeated "roll your eyes experience".

Top Location, Tranquil Atmosphere, and Great Value – This Hostel Has It All

The hostel is located in front of the beach, just 10-minute walked to the pier. The room was superb with a window facing the beach, offering the best angle to watch the sunset. The surrounding of hostel was peaceful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and worth the money.
