The hotel was very nice the staff were friendly we had dinner in th restaurant food was very nice.

Good location spoiled by uncomfortable bed

On arrival a good welcome at reception after a long journey. The hotel is in an excellent location for local amenities and touring the town on foot.Friendly and helpful staff and our room was clean and tidy with coffee and tea making facility.

On the negative side I have never in my life slept in a bed tight against a wall and will never do so again. I found it very uncomfortable getting out to the toilet during the night disturbing my wife and hitting the wall when turning in my sleep. Our room faced the town main thoroughfare and as it was a Friday night there was a lot of noise from revellers in an adjacent pub thankfully it was just a one night stopover.

Loved the location very central for everything, gorgeous views from windows both sides as my dad had a room too. Staff couldn't do enough for you, food was amazing and reasonably priced just like everywhere else.

Not the hotels fault but people kept leaving the lift doors open despite being told on check in and a big sign in lift saying if the doors aren't closed lift won't work! Had to keep running up and down stairs to sort which was OK for me but my dad couldn't possibly do the stairs even going down due to health. Bed was too soft for me but that's not really a complaint as such just my preference.

Booking.com online taking me to book this hotel when I searched for Oban, NZ. Twice! The effort I’m now having to extend to get a refund for the error that Booking.com made! Unconscionable!

SGE HOTELS A NO GO FOR ME

Not much

SGE hotels they all close there bars at 9.30 saying the didn't have a licence for later which is a load of nonsense it's all there own rules so I won't be staying at any of there hotels again, if go on holiday I like to relax and have a drink in the hotel I'm staying not directing me to another establishment to have a drink

Great location, friendly staff, thin walls.

The location and the staff of the hotel were amazing, the staff were very friendly. The bar area was nice and we were able to sit and relax after our dinner and watch the comings and goings of Oban.

The accommodation was a little dated, and because it was an older building, the walls in our room were so thin that we were woken numerous times by other guests coming back to their rooms during the night. The walls were so thin that we heard the people in the next room conversation, and once they slept, we were kept awake by the man's snoring. We hardly slept.

Stayed at the Hotel many times

The towel rail in the bathroom wasnt working. We mentioned it to reception but still wasn't working when we checked out. I didn't find it a major issue but my sister is still recovering from Chemo & is constantly cold so to have a shower with no heater was no fun for her. The bedroom was also very cold, put the heater on when we arrived but only took the chill off the room.

A lovely break catching up with friends in my favourite town

Location is perfect. Would definitely recommend it for that. All the team are friendly and helpful.

The room we were in was a great size and lots of space where they could maybe put a coat rack for wet rain jackets 😊. Some prints on the wall would be good to brighten up the rooms.

Fabulous experience

The hotel was ideally situated for us. Reception staff were welcoming, friendly and informative. We were given a fabulous (and huge!) room on the top floor with views round the bay on two sides. Beautifully clean. We ate in the onsite restaurant. The service was excellent and the food delicious. Would highly recommend and will use again if we're in the area.

Location, friendly staff and cost made the stay worthwhile.

My wife and I booked a weekend break at the hotel. On the positive side we very much liked its central location with easy access on foot to the local sites and facilities. We found the staff friendly and very helpful which added greatly to our stay.

The only criticism I would make is the lack of heat within our room during what was an extremely cold period. There was a very small wall mounted electric heater which didn’t provide sufficient warmth for the size of the room. The electric towel rail in the bathroom wasn’t working which also made this a chilly area following a wash in very slow water delivery shower.Overall the the standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel is of a high standard albeit the decor could do with a modern restyling. Unfortunately there is a lack of parking space( only 8 bays) which means extra expense paying for a council run parking facility or a walk from a free nearby area.

Good stay in Oban

The hotel is central in Oban, very short walk from the station and ferry terminal. Because it's centra,l nothing in Oban is far from the hotel. The staff in the hotel were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean warm and had the facilities stated. The room was comfortable, clean and a king size bed, two singles together but was sold as a double room so delighted with that and it was comfy. Room also had a couch and small table in a sightly separate sitting area, so loved that as well. Nice view over the harbour and sea front from the room.

Only issue we had was no water pressure in the shower, so although it was warm, it was a poor shower. It was over a bath so you could use that instead.

The room was large with a great view. Great value. The location was close to everything and within walking distance. Parking was easy and close. Cool old elevator.

Old elevator was very small. We had difficulty taking our luggage to our room hallways were small and hard to navigate with luggage. heater didn't work very well.

I had sea view room and it was huge. Great location right on the harbour, hotel has restaurant below but not linked so you can't add dinner to your room bill. Parking right outside, I think the cost was reduced for hotel guests. Room big, beds comfortable and all shops etc on the doorstep.
