Elegant house.

Beautiful, elegant house with quality furnishings. Amazing views inside and out. Spacious for our family of 5 adults. Excellent communication from Sykes and host. Spotlessly clean. Lake District is just amazing.

The information about access to the property is lacking and may affect some peoples enjoyment. It is a very, very narrow lane from the main road to the property. The actual drive is then through a gate into a reasonable parking area. But, this area is not secure in that a footpath goes straight through this and I really feel this needs to be in the property info before booking. As we had arrived in the dark due to not being allowed entry until after 5 PM, which in Winter is really not hospitable and should be reviewed, we had not seen that the footpath was immediately next to the open barn and parking area. This could be an issue with pets and young children. It just needs to be stated clearly before booking. The pub in the village was shut for its winter break(the owner was unaware of this), we only found out the day before arriving and had planned some of our trip around this so we had no local shop or pub. There was no fuel for the open and log fires(think this should have been included) which necessitated a trip to the garage in Coniston. The house was chilly as it is so large and the heating is controlled remotely. We needed fleece jackets inside. We had stunning weather and overall a fantastic break.
