Fab!

We had a wonderful stay here and couldn’t be happier with our experience. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The cabin was well-maintained, nicely furnished, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location was very convenient, making it easy to get around and explore the area. Overall, this was excellent value for money, and we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay!

Fantastic stay

The views were beautiful, the huts were a fun quirky part of our holiday. The children loved the novelty of the bunkbeds. The owners were really friendly and knowledgeable with local attractions.

Would highly recommend

The location, scenery and the standard of the pods and the relaxation they offer was fantastic. Would highly recommend.

As mentioned in a previous review, we also found that the sofa needed cleaning and the shower temperature was variable but this did not detract from what was an excellent stay and these are hopefully easy to resolve.

The hut was new, cosy, and very comfortable — perfectly equipped with everything we needed. The setting is peaceful and quiet, with an absolutely stunning view of the lake. It felt like a real escape. Also, it’s just a short drive to Keswick, so really convenient for exploring the area.

Lovely First Stay at the Huts with Family!

It was a lovely place to stay, it was amazing how it managed to fit all 5 of us comfortably in such a small space. Teas/coffees were provided with milk and water - luckily we'd done our own shop beforehand but had we not this would have been a necessity on arrival. This bit is not a reflection on our rating of the hut - sadly the weather was a little wet so we weren't able to use the outdoor firepit but it was fine which would have been nice to roast marshmallows/make smores, but we can't predict UK weather! Overall was a lovely first experience of the huts at the lakes.

The location of the hut being out in the sticks means making an online reservation for a restaurant can be challenging and a lot of nearby restaurants get reserved very quickly. The downside was that the water for showering was not hot it was just lukewarm - we followed the advice on keeping switches on etc for hot water and there was a hot towel rail which was a cab touch but the hot water issue probably needs looking into/fixing. One other bit I didn't like was that the sofa that turns into a double sofa bed was stained - definitely needs a steam clean!

We were having a lovely time so didn’t mention this but our water was not hot and the sheets were synthetic so caused as all to be super sweaty (nice I know) even though it was cold out. So just those two points to amend and otherwise was wonderful and would definitely stay again!!

All in all a great time but slightly rocky arrival due to bedroom misunderstanding

Beautiful space and super tidy. Great location with gorgeous view. Provided great things like a football to kick around, barbecue stations and even wood for a fire to put in the fire pit!

We thought that there were 2 rooms - 2 bunks and double in one room then a sofa and 2 bunks in another - possibly entirely our fault for not understanding but maybe photos were perhaps a bit misleading

The huts themselves are lovely, clean, modern, well equipped, cosy. The bathroom was a great size. The check in and checkout was super easy and the location was just perfect. My children loved that there was a horse and sheep that tended to be in the field just in front of the huts; it made their stay. Great extras in the huts like chocolates and fresh milk on arrival. The bedding all smelt lovely and fresh. It’s clear that the owners really take pride in their establishment. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Although the pictures of the huts do show the three of them side by side, when you’re actually there is only when you realise just how close and in private they are. There’s no privacy at all when you’re outside in your seating / fire pit area, it’s kind of like being at a pub and people are sat at their own tables. It didn’t bother us greatly, as the huts themselves, and the scenery was so lovely, but it would be nice to have more privacy so we wouldn’t stay again for that reason. Also, the very steep incline up to the little car park near the huts is concerning when the underneath of your car is getting scraped going down.

Wonderful views in an idyllic location

We couldn't be happier with our stay. The location is beautiful and the pods had everything we needed for our stay. The hosts went out of their way to provide us with everything we needed to make our two nights perfect. Couldn't recommend it enough. Will come back for sure!

Can't be better

I just loved it. location and view were just perfect, My wife and boy were just too happy. I couldn't find the fire for BBQ then staffs were very kind helping me out even it was sunday evening! I don't know what it is like when it's wet though, for me I will visit again and again for sure. I can't imagine any better place then here as a familyman who like running and nature.

Incredible place, would 100% recommend

We stayed in Carlside Hut for a couple of days (2 adults and 2 kids aged 8 + 11). We absolutely loved it! Everything about this place has the wow factor! The hut is deceptively spacious with everything you need, even a dishwasher! Loved the little welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and butter etc too. The kids loved the bunk beds which again were bigger than they looked on the photos. The location is incredible, with views of hills and Bassenthwaite lake. The hosts were brilliant too. They were so helpful and attentive. We loved the welcome book and the hosts have clearly gone to a lot of effort to detail local places to visit and restaurants etc. It was super helpful. We would 100% recommend the Huts at Highside farm and we hope to return in the future.
