Good location, excellent value for money , comfortable beds and very quiet
A little chilly in the living area when windy

Recently refurbished with plenty of space to relax and lovely location. Parking spot. Great communication with the host made it very easy.
Could have used a coat hook near the door and mat for hiking boots but this is a minor thing for what is a great place to stay.

Beautiful warm apartment in a very quiet area of the Lakes, with good kitchen facilities. Large screen TV, comfortable king-size bed, private patio and dog friendly. Had to ring staff over WIFI issue and they fixed it in no time, very pleasant and accommodating. Its a great base to start many walks and only 20 mins walk to Keswick Town Centre.

We were in Glamamara Cottage. A very nice cottage but we booked a ground floor apartment. Very disappointed as not on ground floor. The cottage wasn’t suitable for us with mobility problems, the stairs were a nightmare and didn’t feel safe going up and down them. Badly fitted lock on front door.

Modern, clean warm and had everything we needed
Couldn’t fault it

Great accommodation, fantastic location, very good value for money. Amenities mostly fantastic very comfortable felt like a home from home
Radiator in bedroom not working properly so we were very cold in there. Bathroom also very very cold. Might be okay for in the summer however needs some work for during the winter
Cooker extractor was filthy needed a very good clean as you could see the grease build up but we aren’t too precious about things like that

Good communication in advance with directions and how to gain entry. Lights were on which was a warm welcome to the property
One small thing - Couldn’t find a chopping board, otherwise we’ll equipped

everything needs desperately updating

Cottage was delightful, modern although sparse.
what let it down was the lack of basic tea, coffee, washing up cloths, when there was a kitchen. For the price we would have expected this at least

The three positives about this place are; the location, space and curtains.
The location is lovely, very close to Keswick, lovely village, very close to the water.
Space was great, huge one bedroom apartment with kitchen area.
It had black out curtains in the bedroom which is always a huge tick for me! especially when travelling with a two year old.
Unfortunately there are a lot of things that could be improved. This place could be amazing, the location is perfect and the building COULD be great. However it isn't. It feels tired and forgotten about.
We knew from the pictures before we went that it would be a bit outdated etc. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't be clean and things not work. There were overflowing ash trays on arrival to the main building, rubbish littered on the lovely grounds from the Friday night right through until the Sunday morning when we left. Spiders on the high ceilings in the rooms, cobwebs round the plugs, a horrendous stench from the bathroom when using the bath, no hot water at all on the second day, a really loud boiler in the bedroom which kept me up most of the night.
Also we booked a one bedroom apartment with a double bed and sofa bed (2 adults 1 child). What we got was a twin apartment with a sofa bed but nothing to go on the sofa bed. Luckily we brought a travel cot and our own bedding for our toddler as the sofa bed didn't look the most inviting! We also only got 2 towels.
Although this place needs an awful lot of money pumping into it to modernise it there are some quite simple things that could be done to hugely improve the stay.
- blind or curtain of some sort in the bathroom
- more intense cleaning; spider removal, cleaning the sticky table mats, removing the dust
- information in the room regarding the main hotels meal times/useful contact numbers/ local area information, instructions on how to use the heating/boiler/hot water
- sorting whatever drainage issues are causing the bathroom smells
- a small pack for the kitchenette containing a cloth/tea towel/ soap/ dishwasher tablet. The kitchen was well but randomly stocked, not many glasses or bowls but loads of dinner plates for example. There was a nice looking coffee machine, but nothing to go in it so what is the point of having it?

Good wifi (when working)
Good sized accommodation
Free parking
Good location
Problems with wifi (no one could fix it)
Dead rodent under the cupboard meant that we had to ask to move to get away from the smell.
3 kitchen appliances with only 2 sockets meant we had to lift the microwave across the kitchen to use it and use the kettle sat on the hob!

The gardens were beautiful and it's really conveniently located.
The pictures are taken very cleverly. The rooms don't actually look as beautiful as the pictures. They're very run down, lots was broken and the cleaning was not very thorough.
The double bed was actually 2 singles pushed together which left a huge ridge in the bed and was very uncomfortable.

We didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that but the location is idyllic and quiet. Ample free car parking, excellent beer garden with beautiful views and staff were polite, courteous and helpful.
The apartment was a bit tired and in need of renovation and seemed poorly maintained with a leaky central heating boiler and noisy hot water tap in the bathroom also the settees were grubby, uncomfortable and need replacement. Some lightbulbs weren't working The kitchen wasn't very well equipped for self catering either, especially cutlery. No bar meals available at the time of our stay and our bedroom radiator was only lukewarm on the max setting so it was a bit chilly in there.

Not enough kitchen facilities only one pan no frying pan the oven was very slow to warm up most of the oven trays don’t fit in the oven broken handle on the shower showerhead insecure had to wait till after 5 o’clock for the keys the water boiler very very loud most of the electrical fittings Looks like a bodge job.. The public toilet in the hotel the door handle was hanging off I could go on and on and on

Water heating was a little hit and miss, otherwise all OK

Superb location & great to have free parking. Very helpful on reception when thought we'd be late for checking in due to a family emergency.
A little difficult to work out how to get hot water . Would have been nice to have had thermostat set at a sensible temperature for expected booked in guests: it has been set at 13 degrees- it took us a while to work out why there was no heating despite having turned all the radiator thermostats on! Once we found & noticed the apartment thermostat &reset it the heating was fine. Would have been good to have had an instruction / information manual as most self catering places we have been to - with this type of information in it. Some cleaning equipment & products would have been good ( all self catering places we have stayed in have provided these); thus enables the guests to properly clear up after themselves, so its in the interests of the property owners.

Big bedroom with a large comfortable bed. kitchen was well equipped with good cooker, fridge, dishwasher. plates pans ect all provided and very clean. separate lounge with TV and two sofas. Decor is a bit dated now but the price is reasonable so expectations lower to reflect this.
It does need an update of decor but clean and adequate. 15 minute walk to centre of Keswick but attached to the hotel which serves food but bar shuts at 10.00pm.

It would have been nice if there were a few tea bags and coffee and milk to get us started but we could have asked at the desk. There was no tea towel or washing sponge but that wasn't a great problem.

Brilliant location, comfort bed.
Old style Tap. It was a nightmare to take a shower. From one tap boiling water from the other one ice cold. Stained carpet. One radiator kept heating up to the maximum all the time. The bedside lamps didn't work.

the grounds were lovely and the location was fab.
we booked 3 superior apartments and there was nothing superior about them at all. as soon as I got the keys I was at reception to complain only to be told they are our superior appointments and we are fully booked so we can’t offer you anything else. They are dirty, carpets and curtains from another era, suite was filthy looking. paintwork was all chipped and peeling, holes and dents in the walls, bathroom heater didn’t work at all just to name a few. one of the apartments had a cracked window and the other the bath had no running water, and the sitting room was t any bigger than a box room, and don’t even mention the tv, our laptop screen was bigger than the tv! we would have been better if staying in a tent!

Location in Portinscale is perfect being just on the village side of the footbridge connecting to the mile or so path into Keswick. The peace and quiet of being outside of Keswick, but close enough for an easy and pleasant walk in. Other than that it was a cheap place to stay - a shade under £200 for an apartment for 2 people for the three nights of Easter weekend - if you can beat that price you're doing very well indeed.
Everything was there that was needed - including hairdryer, iron and board, TV, cooking facilities, etc.
We had a few issues and the manager did his level best with the resources at his disposal to try to rectify, so staff were great.
Despite all the issues listed in the next section, it did the job.
OK - like I said it was cheap, and you get what you pay for. The issue the manager tried to solve was that the apartment was a small double bed whereas the listing on Booking.com stated twin beds. The hotel and apartments were crammed that weekend, but the Manager did find a twin room to offer us in the main hotel for that evening and could switch us for the remaining two nights to a twin apartment. My wife went to look at the room and we decided that our preference was to keep what we had and I used the sofa and chair cushions to make up a bed on the floor for the three nights (hence I the answer to "how comfy are the beds" is N/A from me).
Now the rest of the apartment was pretty much what I expected for the price and my previous experience of shearings, alfa, coast and country etc hotels - so no, it wasn't clean (eg mold in the bedroom & on net curtains) , about half the bulbs didn't work, the towel rail fell off the wall if you touched it, the front fell off one of the drawers when touched, I got at least two thorns in my feet from the carpet, the shower was so small that the inclusion of a grab rail meant bashing yourself every time you tried to lather up, the shower attachment was broken so fell apart if you pushed the shower head up,the sofa and chair creaked and groaned incredibly loudly every time you moved position, all the furnishings were all tired, old and worn, the curtains were falling off the rails.
As I say none of the last paragraph really surprised me - I've stayed in a lot of these type of accommodation because they are dirt cheap, and did any of it spoilt my weekend away? No not really, but I can appreciate for some it would ruin they time - (hint: if it would, stop being a cheapskate when you book a hotel ).

Self catered. Location excellent for access to the lakes. Off road private parking.
Apartment could have done with a deep clean and check of furniture/fittings. 8 light bulbs out across all rooms, lots of loose drawer handles, loose tap handle in kitchen (I tightened a few with my trusty Swiss Army knife because they were annoying me)

Loved the location very tranquil handy for Keswick and other lake District beauty spots
Although the apartment was clean it was a bit run down in places could definitely do with being updated it was still good value for money
