A lovely stay in the center of Lucca

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely and historic guesthouse, and our host was exceptional.

We stayed during a particularly cold few days in December and the heaters that were provided took a long time to heat the rooms.

A very good short stay in a historic building in the centre of the old town.

Location , the host and the breakfast for one morning.

Limited storage space for clothing. The street noise from very early in the morning. The poor lighting on the stairwell.

Sharing sleeping space with Dante!

Perfect location. Historical features in Dante room. Warm welcome and excellent communication from attentive host. Thoughtful extras such as wine available to purchase. Wonderful pizza downstairs (though little space to eat it).

Bed was rather firm. A little street noise which we were expecting (street cleaning in morning rather than roudy revellers).

Charming, comfortable, and unique historic stay!

Incredible location, view from the window, atmosphere, and history! One of the most unique places I have ever stayed. Additionally, Alessandro was fantastic - extremely responsive, accommodating, and helpful all throughout my stay (and even after I needed to keep my luggage there and help with calling a taxi multiple hours after check-out).

Since the property is on the major street of Lucca, it can get quite energetic and lively outside below the windows during the daytime - but it's actually quite charming and gets very quiet at night.

The Apartment was absolutely beautiful and the location is just superb for exploring Lucca. Alessandro was very Friendly and helpful and very responsive to all our needs. I would definitely recommend this beautiful property.

Minor point would be to add a mattress topper to the bed to make it a bit more comfortable.

Charming place with character right in the heart of Lucca

Perfect location in the heart of Lucca right on the main street, close to everything. Old historical building with a lot of charm. In the same building you have Dante & Gentucca, bronze medalist in the world championship from Nepolitan Pizza (also a winner many years as Tuscanys best). Can recommend!

If you prefer a larger selection of things to eat for breakfast, you might consider an external place as a complement

Beautiful old property, right in the centre of Lucca old town, was in a fantastic location, it was very clean and had everything you needed, Alessandro the host was very friendly and gave us lots of information.

We stayed in Beatrice room and it was very noisy into the early hours and then again early morning, there were ear plugs in the room 😁, I’m a very light sleeper so had limited sleep while there, it didn’t spoil our stay there though.

The location of L'antica Bifore was perfect - Right in the middle of the walled city. Alessandro, our host, was very helpful and always available, including taking us to the beach on one day. Breakfast was a nice simple sharing a table with other guests. We'll be back!

Ground zero in Lucca

L’antica Bifore sits in the exact center of old Lucca, a perfect location for exploring the city within the walls. Our room was large and very comfortable, with thick windows to shut out any street noise from late night revellers. Dante slept in the room next to ours, so you can try to feel his presence. Breakfast was very good, with fresh pastries, good juice, and assorted meats and cheeses. No eggs. Alessandro helped us tremendously with recommendations for restaurants and time saving information about transportation and entertainments. A bonus is the pizza restaurant next door, which served some of the best pizza we had in Italy, by the slice as well as whole pies. Walking the ramparts of the ancient walls is a must activity in Lucca, and they can be reached by walking in any direction for ten minutes. Explore the side streets, get an aperitif at sunset at a cafe on any one of the many piazzas, and enjoy the dolce vita in Lucca.

Fabulous location with a unique view

The location across from San Cristoforo is spectacular - right in the heart of the city. You are steps from the Torre delle Ore, San Michele, and amazing gelato da Piero. The rooms are unique, historic and funky (cupids watched over the bed!). The hosts are charming and helpful.

One person of our duo found the bed hard (two twins). The Wi-Fi doesn’t reach very well into the room. Be prepared to drag bags but that’s a given for a property inside the walls.

If you need quiet this is not the place

This delightful guest house is bang in the middle of everything, fabulous hosts who you can tell are very proud of their place and the history. They were very responsive and caring.

We unfortunately got exposed to COVID during our trip , developed symptoms and had to isolate ourselves in the room, being stuck in the room for 3 days was challenging, it’s a very noisy location, lots of activities right below your window, people coming and going until 2am and the sanitation crews every morning at 5. The bed was hard but it didn’t help that we were not feeling well and laying on it most of the day.
