Fish Market B&B

It’s a great property with a great location. Love the bathroom. Breakfast was nice. There’s actually a gym and sauna. Host was very nice and helpful and tried to make my stay more bearable.

I’m trying to be fair and I know this is not the fault of the host … however, the lack of any cooling during heatwaves is a killer. Yes, they are rare occurrences. But they do occur and more often with climate change. The oppressive heat detracts from any enjoyment of the place. The whole house is hot, even the common areas. There is nowhere to hide. My room was at the top floor and I think received the afternoon sun. It was almost hellish to stay in the room but I was so jet lagged I just wanted to lie down. I hope they take more measures to ease the heat when they occur (awnings or shutters on windows, better insulation, or installing air-conditioning of some sort) or just not rent out the rooms during really bad heatwaves (refer your customers somewhere else if they booked with you).

Well located on quiet street, but close to St Catherine’s tube line. Lots of cafes, bars and restaurants within walking distance. Spacious room with comfortable bed and good shower. Alex welcomed me on arrival and showed me around. I was relieved there was a good fan in the room as there was an extreme heat wave in Brussels. Good selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and pastries at breakfast. (And boiled eggs available too). On a couple of days I had to leave early before the 9am breakfast so I helped myself to cereal. Nice to have filtered water available in the kitchen.

There was a small fridge in my room which would have been very useful to store cold drinks, but it wasn’t working. I mentioned this but nothing was done. Alex did say I could store drinks in the large fridge in the kitchen.
