The Dominican, Brussels, a Member of Design Hotels

Great central location, beautiful property, and lovely staff. We had everything we needed and there were some great extra touches like filtered water available on every floor, drinks and snacks at check in, and high quality toiletries.

We were mostly quite comfortable, but we did find the bedding a bit lacking. The mattress toppers frequently slipped off the small beds, making sleeping a bit precarious.

Location is great. Same as the public spaces

Rooms are dated and need to be renewed considering the payed rate

Smartly spaced dining seating that transitions to the Lobby and luxurious bar revels in its soaring Gothic inspired design that celebrates not only its Dominican abbey origins but also a former visitor, the 18th-early 19thc artist Jacques-Louis David, whose work even appears on the bathroom paper blotters under the glasses! BUT

Versus the bathroom's awkward large-lever sink taps that do not transition water temp well, not least when overnight the whole building lost its hot water, a cardinal sin for a hotel of any rating. No vouchers. 'Living like a monk' thus returns to the abbey, ironically even for the pricey dining where I was not the only guest who had to ask for some accompanying lettuce that - with my order - is classically served with croquettes (for which the chef has won Awards). Great style versus some substance: you decide!
