When I booked, I thought it was too cheap. On arriving and how we were picked up, exceeded my expectations. Lovely quiet location which allowed us the unwind and enjoy Ubud.
The mattress was OK but not great

Location, quiet, pool, scooter service to Ubud.
Nothing noteworthy.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, the location is in the middle of the beautiful rice fields. The restaurant of the Samara is very good.
The villas have some room for improvement, the rooms are 2 under 1 roof, and the dividing walls are very thin so you can hear your neighbours talk and go to the bathroom. Also the lights for the toilet and shower outside also make bright lights in the room turn on, which is annoying if you don't want to wake up your companion. And in my opinion the blankets were too warm for this climate so I had to ask the staff to remove the blanket from the duvet cover. Also a filled minibar would be nice if you get thirsty at night, there is a water dispenser in the lobby but it is not chilled.

Great location at the centre of Ubud and despite being at the centre of the town, close to the nature. Very friendly and helpful staff. Always came with a smile to pick and drop us to the main street on the scooters.
Not all rooms are facing the pool or the rice fields. Our room view was blocked by the reception and other structures. The room interior wasn't very impressive and needs some touch up.

Stunning area and the staff were lovely. Very comfortable beds and very quiet.
I would prefer an indoor bathroom due to mosquitoes

It is located right off central ubud where all the markets and main attractions are. The rice terraces are just 20 mins away by bike. Additionally, beautiful paths with rice terrace views surround the villa (e.g. Kajeng rice field walk). Our family enjoyed many early morning and late evening walks in the area. The staff are also very helpful and friendly, accommodating our every request to the best of their abilities. One of the services they do offer is drop offs by bike/scooter to the centre (a 3 min ride) as the villa is not accessible by car. We found this super helpful as the shuttle service was available 24/7. All our luggage was also carried in by scooter so we were able to enjoy our first ride to the villa baggage free.
Just take note that the elderly, people with any mobility issues, etc might find the location inaccessible. They would likely struggle with the bike rides to get in and out of the villa. We also felt that breakfast was just average, with the exception of the fruit bowls which were fresh and sweet.

Loved my stay at The Samara Villas!
The location is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by lush rice fields, it’s so quiet and peaceful. 10 min walk to Ubud town along the rice fields. You can request the staff to take you on a scooter or pick you up from town, if you prefer not to walk.
All the staff were wonderful, so helpful and welcoming. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable. I loved the outdoor shower! Breakfast was delicious. Pool was lovely.
Look forward to staying at Samara Villas again.

Though the property is a little on the older side, everything was clean. Beautiful view and absolutely beautiful staff. Loved that not too many people could stay, and the food/restaurant was of a very high standard.
Loved ‘Mighty’ too
When I made the booking, I don’t remember seeing that you need to be picked up on their scooters from car park.
Issue being my husband has hip issues and it was really difficult/painful for him.

The experience of staying in a rice field met our expectations. Whilst a basic property it had all it needed for our stay. The breakfast was enjoyable and the afternoon tea was a lovely surprise. Had great water pressure and hot water which was a nice surprise. The staff were fantastic. What a lovely bunch of people they are. I would recommend this property for a different kind of stay.

Wauw! Our stay was amazing! We are travelling with our daughter (18 months) and we all felt home when we arrived. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and are great chefs! Little Robyn immediately had a couple of new aunties she fell in love with. The rooms have a great atmosphere and are located close enough to Ubud, but also far enough for peace and silence. We initially booked for 1 night, but cancelled our next hotel to stay longer. Thanks team of The Samara hotel!

Really nothing - I did find the door key difficult when locking the door. But all was lovely

I booked this accommodation five months ago. The reason why I booked this place at the expense of inconvenience in the location of the accommodation when almost all accommodations could be booked in Ubud was because our group could share the space. When all the rooms here were empty, I carefully read the reviews and questions and chose a room marked with a villa - a private swimming pool with two rooms on one floor.I didn't choose a two-bedroom villa and a swimming pool because I knew the stairs were outside and not inside. In other words, we knew the difference between the two rooms, and we chose more rooms when we could choose both. They explained that it was to provide a larger room. That is not the right answer. We wanted each other to be in the same space, and the pool with the villa was the higher of the two rooms when I booked the accommodation. They reserved the room we reserved later than us, but they offered it to people who stayed longer. If you explain that it's a better room and the same price, the situation gets worse. You may have thought we could just move on without knowing how meticulously we checked the explanation of the accommodation in advance. However, if a guest has completed a reservation five months ago, they should be aware that there are clear conditions or forms they want in-room that they want. They told us that we had no other choice and that we could move to another accommodation if they didn't want to. That was a very irresponsible thing to say. It is only possible if we waste time looking for accommodation and pay a much higher price than five months ago.The manager said he would provide two services. Time is very important for us who stay in Ubud for only three days, but time constraints were inevitable to receive the service provided by the accommodation. Nevertheless, the reason I received this service to the end is that I don't want to repeat the same mistake to the other guests in the accommodation.

Samara Villas located about 7 minutes walk from Ubud Market and about 10 minutes walk from the Saraswati Lotus Temple. It is truly well located even if you don't have a motorbike, but Rusma and her team can sort this and many other things like a beautiful floating breakfast and even a privat massage in your villa or room.
I absolutely loved our stay - what a beautiful scenery! Our villa looked out onto the rice fields and it felt well tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud.... it is very quiet and peaceful. The villa itself was breathtaking also - beautiful, clean and comfortable rooms, amazing bathroom with a hot tub and doube sink (always a winner!). The private pool and sunbathing area was out of this world too. I really loved the garden and the beautiful plants and trees that created a true oasis for our stay.
Rusma and her team always made sure we had fresh, drinking water available and delicious breakfast that set us up for the day ahead. She has organised our sunrise hike to to the top of Mount Batur and even prepared us some packed breakfast when we had to leave the villa super early for the day's adventure.
I'm was super happy and impressed with Samara Villas and I would happily return here when visiting Ubud, Bali in the future. I highly recommend them as a place for you to stay and have a wonderful and peaceful time at the villas whilst enjoying the business of Ubud which is only a short walk away.

The spa bath was horrible, when you turn on the jets slime came out. My kids hurt themselves on the edges. A normal bath would be better.
Power went out a few times during our stay.
Villa was not well equipped, with minimal cutlery and crockery.

Exceptionally nice staff. Beautiful location in between rice fields. Rooms were large with high ceiling. Free scooter shuttle service until 8pm available.
Without scooter pickup rather steep walk (with a nice view) back from ubud. Whirpool water smelled a bit. Sun chair and 2nd floor pillows would improve the stay even more :)
