Good central location in Ubud. Lovely tropical gardens. Staff very kind and helpful.

It could get noisy with people walking past talking and music from local bars. Music did finish around 11pm though.

Nothing, this is the second time I have stayed at Sama’s villas and will always be my first choice.

Located short walk from the main road with many attractions. The cottage was spacious and clean, and the staff very friendly. Breakfast must be ordered a day in advance.

The cottage could use a little maintenance, but nothing that would prevent your enjoyable stay.

Location is good

- bed is not comfortable. When we move little, it sounds much. We couldn’t sleep. - bathroom fan so much noisy - so many steps to reach to the room - we requested to provide shower gel which was not working. They didn’t provide.

I had a wonderful stay at Sama's Cottages. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I loved hanging out by the pool. Waliking didtance to everthing :). Best Quiet Location. I look forward to staying there next time.

A series of lovely cottages along a beautiful garden path. They are separated from one another so noise is not an issue. The cottage is spacious and so is the bathroom. A mini bar is stocked with all items included in the room price (not free refills FYI). They have umbrellas to use if you get caught in the rain. The bed and mosquito net are a delight. The pool area is lovely, however if you are in cottages 5 and 6 there is a decent walk up to the pool area (the upside of these cottages is you are away from the road!) The staff tending to the rooms were always super friendly and polite. They bring and light mosquito coils at night if you're outside your room. If you don't have dietary requirements I believe you can have breakfast brought to your room, however we require gluten free so ate at their restaurant Gluten Free on Bisma with a discount.

There is no place to refill water bottles, however there is a mart just across the street from their cafe Gluten Free on Bisma.

We loved every moment at Sama.. it was a wonderful place to come back to after a day of whatever.. The room was so comfortable with gorgeous decor.. the staff were so accomodating and did everything to make our time relaxing and easy.

Sama's cottages is in an excellent location, near the Ubud Market and palace. There are so many places to eat nearby and shopping is also right on your doorstep. Plus there's a little mini-mart right across from the cottages. We liked the style of the room with high ceilings and wood carved furniture. The outdoor sitting area was really nice as well with a table and a bench and some chairs. We also liked the pool, we always had it to ourselves, and the temperature was nice and cool, but not too cold.

Our welcome was so disappointing and set the mood for our week's stay at Sama's cottages. We weren't greeted like we were in other hotels (i.e., with lots of smiles and a warm welcome). In both other hotels we were given a small welcome drink, which didn't happen here either. I wouldn't have minded if we had been greeted warmly otherwise, but this just wasn't the case. It was more a serious business transaction of checking in with some forms to sign, and no smile to be seen. The next disappointment came immediately after - we paid for breakfast when booking and incorrectly assumed that getting a gluten free breakfast wouldn't be a problem at all since the owners of Sama's cottages also own the 100% gluten free restaurant next door. I should've checked before staying there, but upon arrival we were told my husband (who is a Celiac and can't eat gluten) would have to pay for his gluten free breakfast (and would just get the normal 10% discount that is offered to all guests). I don't think it's appropriate to charge people extra for their allergies, especially if it's so easy to accommodate his allergy with the facilities next door. The next day the manager said he could give my husband ONE slice of gluten free bread and a gluten free pancake. We said we'd prefer to just get refunded for the breakfast. However, we were told we'd have to do that via booking.com. We then decided to just go with the gf pancake option, at least for the next day while we figured out what to do, and when the pancake was delivered, we were asked to pay for it..?! At no point when coming or going did anyone ever say hello or goodbye. At the two other hotels we stayed, staff made such a fuss of us and our daughter, but here we were just ignored. One time my daughter walked into our room immediately after it was cleaned and because the floor was wet she slipped and fell and cried.

Location, friendly staff, peaceful surrounds

We really liked the location of our villa, both within the grounds as well as within Ubud. The villa was very spacious, and the added bonus of a kitchenette suited us very well. The lounge suite was fairly comfortable, and the big screen TV with netflix came in very handy when we had 2 days of almost constant rain . It is very close to shops, eateries, sights, mini mart and great French bakery. The pool was ok, just a little hard to get out of when you have joint pain.

It is always a little suspicious when online photos do not show the full room, in this case the bathroom. Even though it is very beautiful and large, the sunken bathtub with overhead shower is not easy to get in and out of for some people. It took us a few days to get used to. Tiles are slippery when wet, so extra caution needed.

We had to vacate the property for mosquito spraying.

We really enjoyed our stay at Samas. The gardens and rooms were gorgeous. The location was perfect for us. It was minutes enough to central Ubud for shopping but away from the busy Monkey forest road. There were several amazing restaurants just steps away from our accommodation. We enjoyed the villa experience and especially having a lovely breakfast together every day under our own alfresco area. My photos do not do the venue justice. We would definitely stay again.

This didn't bother us but others should be aware before booking that the establishment across the lane plays music every evening. To their credit, Samas made sure we were well aware of it before we arrived. We didn't find it bothered us at all. The music wrapped up in a timely fashion and did not disturb our sleep. My adult daughter had the routine of reading her book outside on the upstairs balcony every evening so she could enjoy it better.

Absolutely everything! The grounds are stunning, the staff is incredible and so welcoming, the spa and the pool are so relaxing, and the restaurant they have is also so great! It’s my first time being solo in Bali and I felt so safe at this property as well, which was huge for me. There’s great restaurants right down the street and you’re walking distance from the main attractions downtown. Couldn’t recommend enough!

We stayed in the villa closest to the road and it was amazing. So much bigger than I expected so heaps of room for my husband and I and our 2 teenage boys. We had our own pool but also enjoyed swimming in the main pool. The property is tucked away from the road and really feels like a sanctuary. Wonderful breakfast, either delivered to our room or we could eat at the cafe out the front. Loved chatting to the owner, really friendly and helpful. Great location, close to the busy main road of Ubud but far enough away to be peaceful. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. The bar across the road has live music most nights until 11pm, we were warned about this when we booked but it didn't bother us at all. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Private villa with pool - oasis in busy Ubud. The villa has two floors and a lot of space. Kitchen with fridge, microwave etc, very useful to have. The cafe next door is decent. A lot of lovely restaurants on the lane (esp the Japanese sushi place, amazing). It's close to everything in Ubud. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The private pool is very nice! The bar across the street is quite festive, but they have a lot of variety of music and some good talent. It ends at 11pm so not too bad! We had our toddler with us and he slept through it all with no issues.

The bungalow was spacious and clean, with a lovely terrace. Good location, nice swimming pool area. Great service from staff, good breakfast. We had a great stay here.

The bed was a bit uncomfortable because the wood panels supporting the mattress were not arranged properly/too short. AC leaking but staff resolved quickly.

The villa is perfect and kept very clean. I loved the plunge pool although it did not get the sun until about midday. The staff were lovely and offered a free massage as I was not happy with the noise.

The location is handy for jalan bisma and the main Street. However the location is the villa means that there is not full sun on the terrace until later in the day which was very disappointing. Also, and more disappointingly, the bar directly opposite has live music until around 11pm 5 days/week with bar noise after that until around 1am. There is no escaping it and it ruined what should have been a luxurious end to my holiday. I had paid a lot of money for this villa but was not warned about the noise. I would not have booked had I known.

Loved everything…quiet, calm very tranquil…easy walking distance to Lotus Temple Royal Palace and Monkey Forest…
