Comfortable Room. Nice breakfast and pool area. Pleasant staff.
Animal Abuse. 2 x Hill Mynah birds kept in tiny cages at the reception (sometimes with no water). These highly intelligent, social birds are protected in Bali. They should be housed in large aviaries. I asked at reception, but said the owner put the birds in the tiny cages. If you comfortable seeing this abuse during your stay, then I guess Cendana is okay.

We had a pleasant stay overall. The hotel looks beautiful and very traditional, which gave it a lot of character. The pool area was lovely and a great place to relax. The bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed the breakfast each morning – a good selection and nice quality.
On the downside, the hotel is right next to a club that plays loud music until around 2am. This isn’t the hotel’s fault, but it’s definitely worth bringing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. The property could also do with a bit of updating and a fresh coat of paint in some areas. Lastly, when we turned on the bedside lamp, quite a few mosquitos appeared, which wasn’t ideal.

The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. The facilities were excellent. Special shout out to the two ladies in the spa who provided my daughter and I with some awesome treatments during our 4 night stay. Location is excellent - close enough to the shops and restaurants (1 minute walk away) but giving peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle if you want it.
I didn't like the fact that they had 2 Mynah birds in cages in the gardens. Nor the turtle kept in a tiny pond.

Location is great, we walked to the monkey forest.
Even though the birds are funny I think it’s sad they are kept in cages 🫣

Clean, comfortable and very close to city centre.
They need to introduce card payments and cocktails

Great location in the heart of Ubud. Hotel is set back a little from the road so it is quiet. The typical tropical Bali vibe is strong here. Pools are super clean and well maintained. Great breakfast with a good variety. Rooms are clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. No mosquitoes which was incredible.
Breakfast bacon needs to be cooked better. It was almost raw. I took a bite but was too concerned to eat it. Bathrooms are average. Clean but could do with a reno. It was difficult to find the hotel drive at night, could do with a light on the sign. Hotel signage isnt great on the roadside.

Hotel was very very nice, numerous swimming pools, spa, rooms were very nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful and location was great. 10-15 min walk to the monkey forest.
Could hear music from a local bar during the night, and also dogs barking opposite the field which slightly interrupted the sleep

Beautiful hotel tucked right off the busy centre , quiet and beautiful grounds and rooms. Literally walked out the hotel down a path and your in ubud centre!
The birds in the tiny cages all day. The birds deserve alot more space to live no animal should be kept in a small cage all the time like that.

Perfect quiet location
Great pool , great setting garden and water features.

Right in the heart of Ubud - driveway off Monkey Forest road.
Shops and restaurants on your door step which is great because the streets were very crowded and lots of traffic if you wanted to go anywhere, which we avoided by staying here.
Older hotel and didn’t get room that we hoped for.
The room was good but could have been better, a bit worn out a little money spent would go a long way. TV reception not good at all, WIFi ok.
In saying that we were right near the main pool which was lovely and overlooked rice fields..

Great pools and gardens
Room was a little run down, mould in stone basin, a lot of cracked tiles. Mosquito net was ripped up
6.0 / 10.0
the gardens are lovely, two swimming pools and very helpful staff
Please be careful when choosing room categories—there are both new and old buildings. The rooms in the old buildings tend to be very humid and often have issues with mold, making it hard to breathe. Additionally, the bathrooms in these older units are outdated.

The location was good and the rooms were nice and quiet
The main swimming pool was green and slimy, it was unsafe for swimming. Very disappointing

Very nice pool, good location, spacious room, good breakfast
Room was dark, water pressure was very low, breakfast could have been a little more

The location is great, and the gardens are very pretty and very well taken care of
I didn’t like the big pool, it was green and murky.. the staff tried to explain why.
But it was very very disappointing as I have stayed at Cendana before and the pool was fabulous. I missed being able to swim in It.
Also on check in I was told my preferred room (Superior, upstairs) had air con problems. They said I was being upgraded to Deluxe room. In fact it was a downgrade. Much further away from restaurant, lots of stairs and steps. The room was old, dark and very old. The shower hose came out of the wall.
I was not happy and wasn’t offered a discount when I told the ops manager.

This hotel felt really special and very Balinese. The rooms are very grand, especially the bathroom and the pools were stunning! It was like a retreat and Ubud can get pretty busy so it was nice to have this quiet corner. Although it’s very tucked away it’s super central to everything I’m Ubud and we found it super easy to navigate. They also provide trips run by hotel staff who are all amazing and so friendly. They have a small on site restaurant that we mostly used for snacks by the pool! Also so close to all the monkeys!

We had a wonderful stay at Cendana Resort & Spa! The location is unbeatable — just a short walk to the Monkey Forest, Saraswati Temple, and Ubud Palace. It’s tucked slightly away from the main road, offering a peaceful atmosphere while being just steps from the lively center of Ubud, filled with great food and shopping options.
The resort offers a truly Balinese-style experience — calm, cultural, and full of character. Please don’t expect ultra-modern luxury like you’d find in Dubai, Singapore, or Hong Kong. Instead, come here for the local charm and authenticity.
The staff were very warm, helpful, and always willing to assist with a smile. The stay was definitely value for money.
Just a note — the property itself has limited in-house activities or entertainment options, so plan your days with nearby sightseeing and experiences in mind. It’s a great base to explore Ubud and return to for rest and relaxation.

Lovely staff, great pool and facilities !
The Hotel is located next to a club which is very loud until 3am. Also, the Wifi is very poor.

Staff were very helpful with excellent English. Location is in central Ubud close to main temple, central markets. It is located on two very attractive rice fields. A really peaceful and tranquil setting. Breakfast was great.
Very loud music was played up to 1am (after midnight) from the nearby bar, CP LOUNGE. This woke us up and kept us awake until after 1am. Cendana managers are well aware of this serious problem and have tried to stop it with police intervention. But the problem continues. Mass tourism has ruined Ubud.

It is centrally located. Immaculate gardens and scenic poolside views over a rice field, spacious room that was cleaned daily.
The restaurant lacked variety on the menu and atmosphere.

Brilliant location, amazing swimming pool, lovely staff
It’s a bit outdated, the restaurant and the bar service is not great, limited drink and food options, and honestly the food was not great

Great garden and pool, nice location and confortable bed
Room really run down, toilet always blocked and think as well, couldn’t even brush our teeth.
Told the receptionist once but still the same.

I got the room nearly the end of the property, so i have to walk from the front to my room which is all the way along with the rice field, i love it, the room is big and clean, the bed also big, very comfortable and clean, bathroom very large quite old style but clean, 2 swimming pools and the inside one just next to the rice field give the feeling very relaxing, all of staff is very friendly.
Water supply : the water abit smelly and very hard, maybe from undergrounds water.

Wow! Go off a busy street and within 2 minutes you are at a hotel overlooking a rice field! It’s unbelievable! I had a bedroom at the far end of the hotel and it was like I was in the jungle. No traffic noise. The location is perfect. The staff are very very friendly. I stayed 3 nights….wish I’d booked for longer.

Gardens. Location.
Location was perfect to food and shopping. Only a short walk to monkey forest. Photo's are old, would be nice if the property showed true photos.
One pool was out of order, the other was green. Gardens are magnificent! Staff are so friendly. Breakfast was included and was beautiful.

the boss is so nice, he takes care of everything, he does not hesitate to ask is what we miss something … the woman who works at the reception is too nice, she helped us to put our things in the room. A big thank you to the whole team . I will come back, we love you, thank you for making our stay very pleasant
all was perfect

The staff was nice and the bed was super comfortable, the room was big and had a balcony. The breakfast is very bad for the quality of the hotel and is not free, and even if it was free I would go somewhere else.. I would recommend anyone to book without breakfast and just go to the restaurants in the area which have very high quality breakfasts.
I booked the room with the bathtub, but the room they provided had a very old bathtub that was not deep and made of rock (completely different from the picture) please inform your guests about this since for me is one of the main factors for choosing this room.
