Jacaranda Hotel in Paignton

The host was hospitable and accommodating. The room was clean and warm. The location was very convenient to the train station and points of interest in Paignton.

The mattress was uneven and uncomfortable. Noise from an adjacent unit was very disturbing during the day and night.

Disappointed

It was a safe place to stay and the bed was comfortable. There was a lovely view of the seafront from the room. The seagulls were dancing on the roof, probably Riverdance!

I booked for a bed and breakfast, unfortunately, no breakfast was provided as Jo had a knee replacement a few weeks ago. If I had been notified I would have booked elsewhere. A buffet style breakfast, eg pastries, fruit, yoghurt and coffee was not offered. It caused a great deal of extra expense to go out for breakfast. I also purchased some basic cleaning equipment to ensure my room was clean.

The location and unfortunately that is where the positivity ended.

Everything else. Please do not stay here! It is absolutely disgusting. I have photographs of the rooms we stayed in and they are in a very poor state. No parking, you have to park in the pay and display at the top of the road £10 a day. Wasn’t offered breakfast. The lady who runs it is in poor health and we don’t think can manage it anymore. The rooms are in dire need of some maintenance and a thorough deep clean! Other residents were cleaning their own rooms as they were worried they would become poorly. My daughter’s asthma was triggered because of the amount of dust. Fan was broken - it couldn’t move because of the amount of grime built up inside of it. Place is filthy all around the hotel. Bathroom is diabolical. Carpet is covered in stains and dirt. Netted curtains had seagull poo on them and were ripped. Skirting boards are filthy, massive dust build up on bed frame, radiators dirty, all extractor fans full of dust and grime, mirrors filthy, Drawers of cabinets were filthy. Shower couldn’t spray properly due to build up of limescale. Shower also constantly going between hot and cold. Shower cubicle was dirty and mouldy. A lot of noise around the building. Cramped family room and boiling hot. Windows were filthy couldn’t properly see out of them. A lot of mess on entrance to property. A lot of clutter around. Fridge for guests was horrendous things had leaked and was so dirty. Property needs to be closed and a lot of work to do before reopening. It worries me that other people are going to stay there. We lost a lot of money and spent as little time as possible inside the guesthouse.

Jacaranda

I liked the fact that it was exceptionally close to the sea front, harbour, and shops. The mattress was very comfortable, but the pillows had seen better days. The television in the room had an amazing picture and worked very well. Breakfast was enjoyable. Jo was very accommodating and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.

I am a larger lady with fibro myalgia and found the two flights of stairs difficult to manage. The shower opening between the sink was difficult to manoeuvre to get through into the shower, which I noticed had black mould in the corner. The shower itself was very good, with constant hot water. There were plenty of refillable items to collect from the dining room, coffee milk toilet roll for when you ran out in your room. The room was very basic, but for the cost, it was usable, clean, and comfortable. Regards to breakfast, the milk on your table came in a little bottle to use on cereal and coffee/ tea, which had a rusty look to the top, which once opened had a rusty colour on the opening of the glass. which looked like it needed a good clean.

Exceptional value for a lovely property

The location was perfect, just metres from the seafront, but the street itself was calm a quiet. Exceptional value for money, especially for a seaside location in summer holidays. Jo was very friendly and accommodating.

Perfect weekend away

Well in a month this was our 2nd visit and we are booked in next year already so that says a lot The room was the perfect size for us all and the host Jo is so lovely and accommodating she really cannot do enough for her guests it really is a home away from home and if you stay here your bound to come across repeat guests and we can see why

The seagulls are too noisy haha

not the best experience or the worst to be honest

location to the beach and town centre

not as clean as you would expect two sets of windows one with the glass is blown with condensation between the pains of glass and building work going on next door with the scaffolding right by my window with the other window not closing properly or locking shut. and sounds as if the seagulls where tap dancing on the roof at 5 oclock every morning.

5 star stay in Paignton

The lady that owns the bnb is the loveliest person that simply can not do enough for you to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as it can be, the food was generous and excellent and the location is perfect a few minutes walk to the town and the beach and also the train station.

Misled and ignored

A decent sized bedroom with a comfortable bed Teas and coffees provided Great location Reasonably quiet

Out the front looks tacky and unkempt with cigarette butts Hallway needed a good Hoover Lack of interaction with hosts: the only time was when a lady answered the front door to hand over my keys and tell me where my bedroom was (no introduction, no information, no niceties). The second time was an apology from a man smoking on the porch and blocking the exit. No other contact during my stay. At no time was I offered breakfast despite the website, booking.com and board at the front saying they do breakfasts (I’d emailed the property weeks before coming about breakfast and got no reply) looking at past reviews they used to offer a form to fill out the night before with your breakfast choice, this was not provided to me. Filthy shower with black mould on the head, under the soap holder, behind the shower metal and the corners of the bottom Stained duvet cover No toiletries provided No clean cup for the second day Overall, I would not return or recommend -it isn't the guest house that past reviews attest to providing warm welcomes or lovely cooked breakfasts.
