Lovely stay, wonderful welcome, delicious breakfast, perfect location.

Breakfast was delicious, room was spotless and comfy. It was just a few minutes walk from the beach, station and main shopping area. Really couldn’t fault the place once we got inside. The welcome we received was fabulous and, unlike other places we’ve stayed where it’s just a business, we felt that they really really wanted us to have a great stay. Loved it. Would return at the drop of a hat … if there was better parking.

The only thing we didn’t like was the parking. Luckily we managed to have the last space, but goodness me it was tight. Really tight. We didn’t need to move the car while we were there so once we were parked it was fine, but I don’t think we’d chance it again. It’s a shame because we loved the rest of it.

The room number 1, with a view of the front garden, was beautiful, clean and tidy. The bed was exceptional, really comfortable when you have issues with your back. Can’t thank you enough for that.

It is a small room but expected for a single, I have seen the double room and it’s so beautiful, will be booking that next time.

Perfect little gem worth the money

Where do I start, the host were amazing helpful and so friendly, made us feel welcome from the get go. The cleanliness of our room was perfect, and all the little touches that was there for our use was a lovely surprise. Breakfast was one of the best I have had in a long time, fresh and tasty, plus a good choice. Will definitely be recommending this little gem to friends and family.

Only thing that wasn’t for me was the bed and pillows were a lot harder than I’m used to (I like softnesses) but I still managed to get a decent sleep and it hasn’t put me off returning at all

Lovely guesthouse, perfectly located with only a few minutes walk to the sea front. Highly recommend.

Property was modern, well maintained and very comfortable. The owners were welcoming and friendly. Lots of little extras in the bedroom and bathroom. A great breakfast with plenty of choice and a lovely atmosphere between guests. Highly recommend.

Great guest house.

The location was excellent, 5 minutes walk to the seafront and train and bus stations. Parking was available for us to the rear of the property but note it is on a first come first serve basis, four spaces available. The room was very clean and had everything we needed, comfy bed, tea and coffee facilities, TV, iron and small ironing board, hairdryer, really everything we needed. Lots of choices for breakfast, hot or cold set us up for the day out. Marc and Julie did everything they could to make our stay comfy and enjoyable.

Short break in Paignton

Friendly, helpful and obligating hosts. Lovely comfortable room and en suite showerroom with tea/coffee facilities, toiletries, and a chocolate mint each day. Excellent breakfast. Full English not tried but alternatives, eggs with smoked salmon and American pancakes with fruit and maple syrup were delicious.

Perfect stay.

Merritt house is a lovely place to stay. The room had a lovely shower, comfortable bed with a fan above for air conditioning. The room provided a kettle with tea and coffee available. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The location is perfect as it is in the centre of town and close to everything, including the pier. It’s a 40 minute walk to the zoo which was perfect. We will definitely be staying again. Thank you. :).

Comfortable, good value, handy for Paignton & Brixham.

Very friendly and helpful owners, who happily accommodated our request for an early breakfast. Breakfast itself was good, well-cooked and sufficient without our being over-faced. The bed was comfortable with nice linen, and the bathroom clean and well-supplied.

Car parking is limited. Although it advertises 4 spaces, the narrow access makes these tricky even for a medium-sized car, especially if larger vehicles are already parked. There is some free street parking, and we were never stuck, but sometimes had to make multiple tours around the block looking/waiting. Our room was smallish, with limited storage & hanging space, but we were only there for 3 nights, not a problem.

Breakfast had a good, varied menu, all food was well presented and tasty. not quite enough parking for all guests but free road parking nearby. house position near to harbour and sea front. This was ideal for us as family live nearby who we were visiting.

Owners couldn't do enough with nice little touches including a communal fridge with fresh milk to take to your room.An amazing king bed. Also easy parking & location great for both sea front &town centre

We requested a vegan breakfast and I have to say Melissa cooked a delicious vegan breakfast every day for us. The central location was perfect for exploring the area with easy access to the bus and train stations and also was a short walk to the sea front .

A Good Place To Stay

Great location close to everything. Warm welcome from Andy and his lovely lady. Onsite parking. Comfy bed. Room very clean with everything you could want in it including an iron Toiletries supplied. Small but well appointed en suite Lots of information about the local area and things to do. Outstanding breakfast cooked to order Lots of choices. Got the feeling nothing was too much trouble and everything done with care and attention to detail Plates and cutlery in the dining room if you wanted to bring in a takeaway

situated in an excellent location. In a quiet side street (with limited private parking) but very close to all amenities - very short walk into town; close to railway and bus station, very close to sea front. we didn't need to use the car during our whole stay. The hosts - Andy and Melissa are very friendly and knew everybody by their first name. Nothing is too much trouble! The room was very clean and comfortable and equipped to a high standard. They have thought of everything you may need!! Breakfast was very good with wide variety and choice. Just need to fill in your request form for breakfast the night before. All in all an excellent stay and would definitely recommend.
